I just wanted to reach out and ask the forum if things have changed recently or is it just me.
I will explain. I have always been an advocate of this site and a large contributor when it started.

I have referred no less than 250 people to this site always boasting about how helpful everyone is and if you ever need help, you will find it there.

The reason I ask this is I have recently posted about 4 different post asking for help from identifying a pin to is this a scrapper and have very few views and almost no replies.

I look at other threads and wanted to see if maybe there is a BOYCOTT DAN thread or something. Also to see how many views they get. Maybe the same people are the ones viewing and the threads with hundreds of views are the same people going back over and over.

I guess I was just disappointed that I told 2 friends, look how fast the people on this forum work together to get the answers you need and no answers came in.

I was honestly kinda bummed because I built these people up on how great the site is and then got no help and few views. I remember in the day no matter what the thread everyone would at least look and you would get a few hundred views and lots of replies.

Anyways, I have been posting more, I am happy to have time to be an active member of the site again and I have some really good post I will be listing to help other traders. I sincerely like helping people and have always felt the same from my fellow members but just recently felt like……wow, what happened.

Anyways, I would also love to trade and have a lot of nice traders from WDI, DSF and many more so please take a look. As most of you know, I am easy to trade with.

Thanks and hope to see many of you soon.

Hi

I had a look at your wants and traders but I do not have anything you want. I am interested in your pin
Pin 94535: WDI - Christmas 2012 - Lightning McQueen
I am in the UK so if you want to look at my traders feel free !
Best wishes

I'm hesitant to say this because I'm not an established member here, nor an active pin trader... but honestly it seems like the threads where people complain or rant about being ignored get more attention than the ones where people simply ask a question. Which is disappointing, imo... I think the people who are polite and patient deserve more attention. (Please don't take this as a personal attack, I'm not trying to call out your post in any way, it's just a trend I've noticed)

That being said, the reason your posts get ignored may have something to do with when you post them... most people don't go beyond the first page of threads. Also, I know I personally tend to just browse the "what's new" page over anything else.

First off I want to say "hi!" because I haven't seen you around for a while!

Secondly, I pay no attention to the 'please help me identify a pin' threads because I KNOW I will not know the answer. I know next to nothing about other pins that are not part of my collection (Alice mostly) or super popular; and I honestly don't have the time or patience to read every single new thread on this forum.

I notice it just is hit or miss sometimes with threads. Happens to all of us.

Welcome back though, it's good to see you!

Secondly, I pay no attention to the 'please help me identify a pin' threads because I KNOW I will not know the answer.

Totally second this! I feel loss when it comes to pin comparisons, and while I research pins in my collection to see if they pass basic scrapper/quality tests, I don't feel confident enough telling people whether or not the one they have is authentic just through a picture - and even in that case most people don't even posts pics on the thread for comparison :dunno:

I'm sure no one is purposely ignoring anyone or not trying to be helpful. Could just be a simple case of not knowing how to help for many

Or perhaps some of us remember how you spent weeks randomly attacking people here (including me) and then admitted that you only did it because someone offered you a bet of free pins if you would attack people to see how many you could drive off the boards.

I left this board for a year because of you. And if you're back, then I'm out. Again. Because of you and anyone who supports your behavior of attacking people for FUN. On a BET.

1. The core group of people has evolved since you were last active. The newer group seems newer to trading/collecting in general and so are not familiar with a lot of older stuff. Plus, they seem so keyed into their own part of the pin world, that other stuff doesn't get through. Ask about a Princess pin, and you'd get more answers.

2. I did see and read all your posts but I did not know the answers. I don't collect Jessicas, I did briefly search for the Mickey pin with no luck, but not enough that I would feel comfortable declaring it, "not on Pinpics, so you should add it." Although, I think it might be one of the old pre-pin trading pins which probably isn't on Pinpics. And the silhouette pin, the first question is was it ever released in Tokyo after it debuted at DL? I've never been, so I can't answer.

3. I'm still dealing with holiday stuff, stuff that backed up from dealing with other stuff, and I'm so far behind on a bunch of real life things that reading the forum is hit or miss lately.

I always view the 'please help me identify a pin' or 'is this a scrapper' threads, but if I don't know the answer I don't want to spam the thread with a "dunno sorry". Who wants fifty of those? I wouldn't.

Also I nearly always just click the 'new posts' button, so I only see things that have had new posts in the last few... hours? I'm not sure what time period the search is based on, but things fall off there quickly. You are allowed to bump a thread once per day, and it's probably a good idea to do so, and not at the same time every day, so you're cycling through to different viewers.

And also yeah... the holidays! December was crazy busy, (for that matter so were October and November), New Years was crazy busy, last weekend I was at DLR for four days... I just don't always have time to look. I think the holidays do that to a lot of people.

I don't have anything on your Wants list but you have 4 pins, I'd like. Maybe you can look at my trades again and see if there's something you may want.

Behaviours change, I apologised, paid my dues and have been polite.
It was a difficult time in my life, I made mistakes and am now back in a supportive way.
Sorry you cant let go and bringing up the past to new people is not cool.[

It was all ytaken out of context and i consulted people on the boards, took their advice and have since returned. Happy trading.............

Thank you for your input.
I do appreciate it.[

Thank you all for your responses. While I may not have posted much, I was lurking and did not notice such a change. For the most part, I have been a good person on this board, had a difficult time and asked advice of fellow pin traders and DPF members, took that advice and came back respectably and have tried to once again be a contributing member.

If you hold a grudge or don’t like me, I am sorry but I have many friends here, I miss them and I like this forum, helped it when it was new, always appreciated it and am back to enjoy it and the people (well most of them)

Also, do not misstate what I had said previously, the bet was to get 1000 views and that is past so please let’s just let it go, do not respond to the past, if it involves this thread I thank you in advance and lets just move forward. I did not intend to drive anyone away. I learned the word for what I did was called trolling and I am not a troll (at least anymore)

Great to see some familiar names. Hope to see a lot of you soon.

Best Regards,

Its kind of hard for me to think of you doing negative things because ANY interaction I've ever had with you was nothing but positive (but I've only been on the forum since June 2012 so I don't know anything about the past). I remember when I started pin trading back in 2010 you were always someone I could go to get vinyls because you did Vinylmation for Vinylmtion and you were always fair and kind about EVERYTHING. I don't think I ever couldn't make a deal with you every time I asked to trade with you because you always found something to trade. I really credit you for giving me my love for this hobby because your spirit and passion for the hobby rubbed off on me and I grew a huge appreciation for the hobby. I don't regret getting into hobby one damn bit because I've meet some incredible people through pin trading in which some have almost become like family to me and I credit you for all of it. If I hadn't met you my eyes would have been never opened to see what an amazing community of people this is.

Saying "oh well, sorry, I'm nicer now" does not make up for the fear, anxiety and attacks you put me through making me afraid to return to these boards.

You viciously harassed, attacked and targeted me. You terrorized and traumatized me, reducing myself and others to tears for no reason other than because you made a BET you could get a few free pins and you thought it was amusing to hurt people.

And if others want to support that behavior, fine. I'm out.

WOW!
You totally made my day because this is what Pin Trading is all about.[

Yeah, I have made mistakes but overall I try to be a nice guy and genuinely like people and helping them out. I am the kind of trader where even if i dont need the pin but have something you need, I want to make it happen for you.

Thank you for the kind words and i hope to see you soon.Q

Best Regards,

Dan

Once again, I can not go back in time and change anything.
I am truely sorry you feel this way and can not forgive me. I do not judge and understand it may not be easy for you. I would like to ask that you just do not communicate with me and turn my name off.[

I have many friends here and also have a lot to contribute and like to help people. Some like me, some wont so you have the ability to turn me off.
Please do this and MODS, I am being polite and asking for this to stop, if it does not, i am not in control of this. I am not provocking or anything, asking to move on and stop talking about it.

I wish jabberwocky the best and think its in the best interest of the forum to drop this subject and stick to the thread.

Thank you

Pm sent.................

I for one am glad to see you back. You have always gone out of your way to help me and many others and have made great contributions to this forum. Much of my knowlegde of pin trading and collecting is directly because of your willingness to share your knowledge and to that I say thank you.

I too used to ask for help in getting a pin from someone going to an event becuase I live so far away and would get 2-3 willing DPF members that would help me obtain a pin. Lately I get no responses at all or those that do respond do not follow through and I am left hanging. I have stopped posting such posts because in the long run it is better for me to wait for the pin to come up for sale on the forum or just pay the marked up price on ebay.

As for past descressions, I think we all have made mistakes that have hurt others in our lives whether intentional or not. We learn from our mitstakes try to make ammends to those we hurt and move on. I think we all learned something whether you chose to forgive or not. For me, there have been members of DPF that have offended me greatly and in stead of dropping out I have just blocked them so I do not have to read any of the comments they have made.

I stay away from any posts that list complaints. Too much bashing and it does nothing but get people upset. If someone wants my advice they can PM me directly.

There I have said my two cents and ridicule me if you must.

Hi, I always look at the compare and help threads, but generally I dont collect the types of pins being enquired about and so cant comment/help. Unfortunately, I dont always have the time to read all the threads, as it can be quite time consuming.

I think this site has been generally much quieter than in the past, maybe its just because of the Christmas period and will pick up, but we also hear alot of people leaving pin trading which may contribute.

I traded with you once on Pinpics and enjoied our trade then I happened to see you here and added you as a friend because I remember our trade, I think your great, Sorry I didn't see your posts, I would not be much help as I am still learning how to spot a scrapper so I dont try to jump into those posts unless I know for sure I can tell, But I love trading with you and would enjoy trading with you again.
