Figured a new thread should be started for the PODM Steamboat Willie release at WDW, especially since FL is 3 hours ahead of CA and the release has already occurred.

How is it?

and....how was it? Total crap here in CA!!! DLR SUCKS!!!!!!!!

That's... positive.

Hubby's on his way back from DTD. Said the release wasn't that bad, but there was a line before Pin Traders even opened. Met a few really nice people though. I'll have him post further info when he gets home with his 2 - one of mickey at the helm, whistling and then one of pete and mickey, with pete puffed up and mickey cowering. :)

Just left Epcot...I was literally the only person there. They now have them under the counter and only let me look at four, but it was a smooth process. :)

Glad to hear Epcot learned from last time. I'm planning out my attack for Mulan (which I expect to be worse than this one), and really don't want Epcot to be a zoo, since it's a convenient "in and out."

Would anyone being willing to head back to somewhere at WDW that still has a bunch and get me one with Mickey at the Helm? I can paypal you money today. Just PM me.

Hello, I'm the hubby :-P Name's Jason, I've met some of you before at events I'm sure. Anyway Cass told me to add my two cents. I got there early (around 8:50) to DTD, and there were already 20-30 people in line. But it was a smooth process. They had the pins in 2 bins, one marked with Mickey at the helm, one marked with Pete in them. I wanted one of each, so they randomly grabbed two from each bin and you picked the one from each you liked. Nice scenes, might have Cass upload them later, but I didn't really see any bad scenes from the people walking out. They were real good with the release and the crowd control. I was talking to a guy in line who works security at Disney, and he said they had a call at Epcot to stop a fight the day of the Lion King release, so it seems learning has occurred.

If anyone would have an extra one that they would be willing to sell, I would pay a little extra, i'd greatly appreciate it. Please PM me as well. I just need one for my collection, a decent scene if possible, but I'm not too picky. =) Thanks in advance!

sounds good. Its just sad that it took so long for disney to try and help with this trouble. i hope the learn and do not set the hobby up for the same things to keep going on. only 4 out of 24 left. guess its better to learn now than not at all. but seems they could have got done this or seen it would help after the last 20 times there was trouble. +1ooo that things may get better for the hobby.

bumpsie :) Sounds like WDW went smooth. I think it also has to do with the location of the parks from each other (distance). It's not like it is in CA where they are all within walking distance (well, HS and Epcot are 1.5 to 2 miles apart so I suppose that could be considered "walking" distance).

The easiest "walking" distance would be being in line at the Contemporary and then running over to the MK.

Just left DTD...again I was the only person there. Still had at least 50 pins.

We know someone who works there and she has at least 100 hidden away.
She said they'll most likely be for sale tomorrow as well.

I was able to buy 6 (2 at each) from different locations.
Frontierland at MK, Contempo and DTD Pin Traders.

I am home now...yes WDW went very smooth...I went everywhere except Contemporary and Animal Kingdom (started at 11:00 and left my last location at 12:45) and the only place that was sold out was Hollywood Studios. I was actually surprised they were sold out...maybe they received less than usual.

I was also the only person looking at these pins everywhere I went except MK, where two people were going through all of them, and when they were done I would look at them as they were putting them back on the shelves.

The only place that had scenes with Pete (when I was there) was Downtown Disney. Everywhere else just had various-but-very-similar "Mickey at the Wheel" scenes. I actually liked these the most anyways...when I think of Steamboat Willie, Mickey whistling at the wheel is what comes to mind for me...so I was not disappointed. I never saw any with Minnie or anything else unique.

All-in-all a very non-stressful release. I really hope Mulan will be like this, although I would assume it will be a little more hectic.

I really feel sorry for the DLR peeps...I really do. I don't think I would attempt releases like these if I had to wait overnight or anything...so I really do commend everyone that tries to get these at DLR for putting up with all the craziness. :)

I swung by DTD WDW on my way home today at around 2:30 just to check if they still had any and they had a ton left. Probably like 100, no one else was looking at them while I was. Got one of mickey close-up whistling at the wheel and one that was zoomed out of mickey at the wheel smiling.
