It's nice to see that after 12+ years of Disney pin trading, nothing has changed. Nothing. Complain, complain, complain, this coast has it better, that coast has it better, sharks, sharks, sharks, greedy people, not fair, ect..it's all listed in this thead.

People, get over it. Just have fun. Trade for what you can trade for, buy what you can buy and enjoy it. It's not going to change.

Complaining about it doesn't help. Try being constructive and positive for once.
 
To nwojeffd I didnt even go so I guess it would be a little hard to sell them. And yes at age 7 if she is old enough to say I want it then she can camp out for it. Doesn't look like she been hurt by it she had a 4.5 gpa in school and a successful acting career. So no I am not the type to sell there you go grouping everyone again.

so I was reading "the ugliness" and decided to stop. everyone makes valid points and in the end we are either all going to break rules or pay ridiculous prices because in the end we love this hobbie.
I got there at 6 today with my sister and we ended up buying 4 one for someone else who went alone and needed one for her son and the others were supposed to be for my collection but I ended up getting only 2 that I had to keep, and one for a trade. yes it ticked me off to see all those people already but I knew it was going to happen yes isney should've enforced the rules but they won't, and yes people were running back in line after they got their scenes but again that was going to happen we all knew this.
what really bothered me though was that I got my scenes at downtown disney by the time i got there not only were the card horribly bent but the pins were scratched or the pin point was bent and broken. I think the downtown disney was the longest and the slowest but I did enjoy that I didnt have to worry about my sister getting trampled or that I wasn't getting a pin.
I am very sad that podm is ending this year because they are beautiful pins even though there are ridiculous prices and people are getting angry over others decisions the pin is what we are after and it's nice going and meeting new people and getting a pin at the same time. But if it is ending at least lets make the most of it and put everything else aside.

A few folks camped out or lined up in the middle of the night, did they really think this would be THAT big of a deal? It was not supposed to be permitted to line up early. I do hope Disney fixes that next time. besides, there really was no need, as you will notice below. Here was my most excellent PODM release.

My experience with today wristband release was great. I got to DTD around 5:45am. got in line. Saw someone from the front grab 4 friends and try to take them up front, only to be followed by CM and sent back. thank you! Got my wristband for fly n buy, only me. My child was "to young" to get one. Line up for fly n buy was orderely. you had 3 minutes to look at 6 pins and choose. boom, done.

Went back to DTD. SOME people were lieing and getting new wristbands. You know who you are, feel shame!!!!
There were still wristbands available at 1pm when it opened to any buyer, dont you feel foolish for rule breaking? It was for nothing!

I waited. At 12:30pm, we started a second chance line. orderly, friendly, everyone happy and chatting, we had all gotten our pins, and wanted to pick up a few more. I got to look through the leftovers, and picked out 2 more of Pete at the wheelhouse. All that was left was Pete with Mickey, none of mickey at the wheel by then.

I then went into the park, and to LGM. They still had PODM's there too, at 1:30pm!!! Did not see anything left I had to have, so i left them for someone else, and hoped others who had some would do the same for later customers.

Here I am, home, unharmed, not frustrated, relaxed. The pins were not sold out by 10am like the last couple releases, there was not any major issues, line cutting was controled mostly, and while there are always going to be some sour grapes who wanna break every rule for the sake of breaking it. Things went smooth.

You see, I like the wristband method. Why? Because it WORKS. People like me, with kids, who cannot camp out, or run from location to location cannot fight with the lone runners who grab 10 or more at an uncontroled event. I was very happy, and this gives me hope for the next few PODM releases.

Seriously people, I'm the one that is usually starting the drama, but look at you all bickering at each other . Aren't we suppose to be continuing the tradition . We keep on like this and we are going to continue by stopping the joy of this hobby .
The gentleman that traded me the Beauty And The Beast Beloved Tales for the DSF Jessica Easter Egg . I asked him twice ... Are You Sure ? He said, you have what I want, I have what you want , it's a no brainer . Isn't that the way it should be , the way Disney envisioned it . I think a lot of you forgot its a hobby for all to enjoy .
I sold my Jasmine Desgner Princess pin for $60.00 to one member .
When I sold my POMP when Binks died , I knew my scenes were worth alot . The highest was my AIW close up of Alice, The Mad Hatter & White Rabbit having tea . It was well worth $125.00 . I sold it for $50.00 . I needed the money and a member needed a break .
I think it sucks those of you that have pins and value them in the $100.00's .
I don't know this Luv Simba but she called it right with her post . Stop bickering, grow up and get back to the fun of pin trading .
 
Why is everyone acting like this is a drama filled thread? .....I'm completely confused. Unless I missed something, this is far more tame than a lot of other threads that have been discussed lately. There have been a couple of communication issues, but nothing major in my opinion..... I haven't seen anyone complaining that they didn't get a pin. I don't see anyone screaming and throwing a fit and saying they are gone forever. Not sure why some are making it out to be more than just a discussion. :dunno:

I have to say this was the most stress-free PODM release in a while. Only a few people camped out over night, just about everyone got a wristband, the scenes were great, and there were pins available up until around 2 (last I checked). I hope they keep this system for the rest of the year!
 

I know what your saying. Can the non-newbies remember these releases for example - the same but a different time? The lines, the holding a place for a friend(s), the early morning line ups and the early morning phone calls to DisneyShopping.com for the LE 100 releases. The chats on Dizpins sound about the same things about the same topics. The only thing that has changed is the retail price and the LE of the pins that Disney is making bank on.

everyone got a wristband, cuz at 1pm when they stopped wristbands and let anyone buy... they still hand bands left to give. lol

No-one who attended this event can truthfully say, "I didn't get a pin!"
 
I got 12 of these POMH. I was very happy with the release and was able to buy them at 11 with a wristband and got more after 1pm. I had 2 family members with me that supported me by buying them for me (of course, I paid them back) but it was awesome! I got alot of Mickey at the wheel and got some of Pete with Mickey
 


Im surprised you admit this since the major complaint on this thread seems to be those that buy 10-15 of he pins.
 
While I haven't personally attended any of the recent events, my wife does and both of us are in favor of wristbanded events. I believe this release was a good test of the overall system, but is, by far, not a great sampling of the true madness that surrounds a princess movie release.

Sometimes I wonder if the no line ups rule is more of a legal stipulation, rather than something that Disney is going to really enforce? In fact, I feel it is more dangerous to have a no line up rule, than to let people line up whenever they want. We all know there will be a mad rush, from the multiple unofficial lines and that is much less desirable, in my opinion, than people waiting in one or two official lines. There simply is no real good way to keep people from lining up and the best Disney should hope for is that people will behave themselves in line. Which, for the most part, does happen.

For the most part, I'm not sure that Disney is all that concerned about what is fair. I think think they are liking that they can pretty much instantly sell out a product. I think that Disney is concerned about the safety of their guests and that this wristbanding process was in response to what they were seeing occuring at these pin releases. Mobs of people running and pushing to purchase pins was eventually going to result in some sort of injury and lawsuit. They had to do something to contain that madness and wristbanding seems to have worked out well.

After hearing from my wife, here are things I feel they could improve.

* I'm a fan of let them line up whenever they want. Disney should simply post some security and have them keep an eye out for trouble. In most cases, pin traders will not cause any issues and this would eliminate any mad rushes from unofficial lines. If the main point is to keep things as safe as possible, just let them line up whenever. It's not like they use the Downtown Disney parking lot for anything at night/early morning. If they want to make extra cash, charge people to park there and wait in line.
* The three lines for the various locations was a good idea. Having one person distribute wristbands for all three lines? Not so much. Assign a wristbander for each of the lines, please. Then have another CM or pair of CMs escort those lines to their destination. The lone wristbander should learn to delegate and realize that he can't do it all. Use the people assigned to the event for various mundane tasks, please.
* For the people running back for more wristbands, maybe they should also stamp everyone's hands. At least they would have to work to get the ink off. If they want to cheat the system that badly, make them work for it.

Obviously, wristbanding appears to work. But I'd like to come back and review it again, following a princess pin release. That should be more of a full madness event upon which to judge the effectiveness of wristbanding.
 
For those that went to LGM Store Command: how did they run this release? Did they use the former Rocket Rods' queue? I was at Fly'n Buy. The CMs did a great job there, but its a smaller location than Pin Traders and LGM so the line moved very slowly.
 
Yesterday was my first pin release in several years. I arrived with my son (11) at around 6:30 am. We were disappointed to hear traders had slept over despite the rules that were given. It was discussed quite a bit in the line. It was not surprising though - this is nothing new for Disney. This is exactly why Disneyland has no "magic" for me anymore. They are a business first and foremost.

I stopped trading a few years ago and put my pins away and I have to say, it seems the hobby has both improved (the pins are beautiful!) and gone downhill (the greed! It's astounding!).

Overall I think the wristbands worked very well. Sure some people came back for seconds but overall they controlled people from overbuying at multiple locations and that was the point. It was fun chatting in line with other traders and my son made a trade that made him very happy (he loves Stitch).

I got my pie-eyed Mickey (Steamboat Willie) and some to trade toward my small but mostly hard to find list of wants.

I've never gotten into the east-west arguments - I've traded, and traded fairly with people from all over the world. I'm primarily a trader, I buy from ebay sometimes and when I decided to stop trading I sold off some of my pins (for reasonable amounts and sometimes less than I paid). This hobby is trading to me. I'm in it for that and if enough people choose to remain traders and not "sharks" (or whatever you want to call it) then it will remain a hobby as it is meant to be. Maybe I'm naive... but I say it's what you make of it. Choose to be a trader who trades fairly and the hobby will stay fun. I may never get some of my wants the way the prices for them are jacked up. I have pins that are of equal value LE wise and that are just as old and have similar trade ratios. I'm just hoping one day I will find someone who's really a trader to trade with. If it's about the pins you want and not the $$ then it will happen. If not, it's just a shiny piece of metal, I'll get over it.
 

That seller does not work for Disney I am 100% positive of that but in the end it is that person's and they can sell it or keep it if they want to but in the end it it their pin and they can sell it for whatever price they wish.

Are there employees that sell their pins? I am sure they do. Are there cast member family members that sell pins? I bet there are but in the end that person bought their pins and it's a collectable item. It sucks but it's just how a hobby works. We, the buyer, make a choice. Do we want to buy that item for that price or pass on it. I would have passed on it but someone might buy it for that. I don't value the pin for that price buy maybe someone might.

This is just my opinion:

I think we can just all agree to disagree... Honestly, I don't think the negative comments are anything that makes things better or changes anything. We can talk about it but I think the "shark names" and the "comments" are sometimes unnecessary on this forum. It's a collectable hobby.

If a person uses their money to buy a pin they can do whatever they please with it. Wether it be breaking, burning, melting, licking, trading or selling that pin. I think it can be frustrating but in the end that is the owner of that item and they can do whatever they wish with it. Sure we can talk about oh man, it sucks these pins are reselling so high. Sure... But in the end it's their belonging. We, the buyer, can choose to buy at that price or pass on it.

I think we all need to stick to what this forum is about.

Let's just try to be mindful and respectful of other people and keep this positive. I understand some frustrations but think about it this way.

If you type something up and are about to his Post Quick Reply think about what someone may think of feel if they read what you wrote. And if your trying to state something maybe word it how you would want someone to approach you about something. Attacking and lashing out at others will not make you or another person feel good inside. That is all I ask. I want the forum to be happy and positive. Let's maybe try this? Just a thought? Any other thoughts or opinions of how to keep this a more positive thread please do share. I think many of us want it to be a little more fun and light hearted

Maybe my point was not clear: The posting on Ebay appeared at 7:48 am PST. And the picture was not a generic picture, but of the actual pin as stated in the listing.

That is about 1 hr before public sales started. That is what I found odd.

I can see why that is odd but if your first in line for the wristband and got magic morning passes. You can get pins before the general public. But I can see how that can raise some questions.
