No, it's anyone that didn't make it to GSF. Some CA Tangled collectors are also probably pretty annoyed (but it's more likely they'll have friends who can spare them one since they live in CA) so it's a natural response. I'm also by NYC, so it just sucks that we have no chance from the start, but you get used to it...tis the way of pin trading if you're not by a Disney place that sells pins
 

It drives me nuts! It would be awesome if they would open a place like that in New York. Can't see it not drawing a huge crowd. I'm just guaranteed to pay double triple or quadruple retail for the things I want.

"Slightly" is an understatement in my case. And it's quite sad that many people were attacked for asking (nicely) to "pick one up" on Facebook. I don't know, it wouldn't hurt to help collectors that don't have access to GSF instead of immediately asking to trade for $200 pins or sell it for $100. But that's my view on the whole matter. Probably unpopular lol.

I feel ackward asking for pick ups at cost because I know we all invest money into this and even tho we have only been collecting a short time I've still got a ton of money into this. (Darn rapunzel pins!) but I saw some auctions or stuff on Facebook where people had over 5 of the pascal pins. It's a one per person per day release. And I've been scouring to buy one but can't bring myself to spend 70+ on a pin that was 15 bucks a day ago. I understand paying extra for the Saturday releases. People spend hours on line so when I spent close to 200 for my presale on wreck it Ralph train I had no worries about it. But...I dunno I'm just ranting at this point. Perhaps I would do the same thing if I lived near one. Not really sure. Sorry for my rant

I'm not sure when Pascal came out but I remember seeing the post at 1:30 p.m. that it was out. Assuming it came out within the hour (it sold out by 3:30 or 4 pm), that's a LOT of people going to be stuck in rush hour traffic in Hollywood. With absolutely no traffic whatsoever and driving a bit more than the speed limit, it takes me one hour to get from my house to Hollywood (this was on Black Friday when I went last year) <--if I was driving the speed limit, it would take about an hour and a half. With light traffic, it takes me at least two hours. With rush hour traffic, it would take me three to four hours since the freeways and all side streets are typically blocked during rush hour. And that's going one-way. I know I could take the Metrolink for $23 round trip, which is actually cheaper than gas, and then get on the Metro to the Hollywood station.

Obviously, there are some people who live closer than I do, that could potentially do the whole trip in one hour (from home/work to Hollywood to home/work). So, taking into account the $17 price tag of the sundae (don't forget that there is sales tax on that $15 sundae) + $23 Metrolink = $40 minimum for the dang pin.

People with multiples have kids or friends who are willing to go with them to get the sundae and pin (and don't collect pins themselves). Me, I already have a hard time convincing my sister to come with me for a DSF release. I couldn't convince anyone to make the trek with me to DSF for a PTD pin.

The Facebook posts that you see 10+ pins, that's usually a group of pin traders' pins, that is they came in separately, got their pins and then put them down for a group photo.
 

Truthfully didn't even factor that all in. So really for the people putting it up at 75 it's only a profit of around 30 bucks for an hour or more of work. The buy it now button is looking intriguing!!!! Thanks starry!

Haha! I am perhaps more cranky at the fact that I can't enjoy the sundae as opposed to the sometimes 200% mark up these ptds suffer straight out of the original buyer's hands. I live in Florida! We definitely have an appreciation for sundaes! And those damned Mickey sprinkles are so frakkin adorable! u___u
 

Oh yeah, people didn't even ask for at cost. That's what made me annoyed. They were being attacked because they didn't ask someone to pick up the pin for $100. I'm more annoyed by the fact that they're attacking people, instead of the fact that it's selling for $70, aprox. "This pin will probably sell for a lot more, just a heads up" would've been nicer to say instead of things "yeah good luck, never gonna happen bye".

And ranting is fun, no worries.
 
Not to be mean or anything but I know it's frustrating for pin traders outside CA to get PTDs and it's even hard for pin traders inside CA to get some of these PTDs but can we keep the back and forth chatter and ranting to another thread? I believe there's a thread link somewhere on the first page for speculations and oohs and ahhhhs and the like. It's really hard to check this thread for updates and then when I scroll it's just people making conversation.
Sorry! Maybe it's just me...when I see this thread bumped I'm expecting a new ptd or a surprise release information.

Is it just me or does it seem odd to have a thread about DSF release flyers and PTD's but then not expect discussion on them? If OP is so worried about it I'd suggest a few things. 1. Make a DSF release thread sepearte from a PTD thread. 2. Don't make it a stickie. I prefer you just have a new thread. Forcing it into one I never really understood anyways. Let the discussion about Blue pascal be in a blue pascal thread. If you want a single stickie like this, then let it be locked by an admin and only let that admin update the current as the new ones come out.

Back on topic but not the OP's preferred topic... I think Blue Pascal, selling as fast as he did with all that construction and on a weekday could only mean that CM's let people bring in random strangers to buy extras. Or dare I say it, sold them multiples. Some people know how to work it, wait for shift changes and breaks, buy more. It's just sad that DSF chooses to make the popular characters LE300 still. Get a freakin clue already. And also, stop doing them on days when the Oscar's are bulding/tearing down. Ay yi yi.
 

Eh, to be honest, I don't really care one way or another... I took over the PTD sticky thread as it was in danger of being abandoned (and working next door makes it easy for me to verify releases and get pictures of the pin if needed, during the week at least). There wasn't a general GSF flyer thread at all, and people kept asking about it, so I just decided to add that as well... Same store, no reason to have different threads. The focus is basically the PTDs since they change all the time. Other than the flyer being released, there really isn't any 'news' about the monthly releases anyway.

I just copied the original 'rules' from the old thread, but everyone talked about the releases just as much there... As long as the talk is _about_ GSF pins or PTDs, I see no problem with it. (As long as it doesn't reach a point that the whole thread needs to be locked or anything... ).


Yeah, the LE300 was kind of surprising knowing they've done LE500s on some of them... But I also noticed these are still labelled DSF, so they haven't even gotten into pins designed/made since GSF took over. Any long-term changes to characters/LE #s probably still hasn't trickled down into the store yet...
 
I'm pretty new to PTD's and was just wondering: does anyone know how the characters are selected? Is there some random drawing at the start of the month that determines which pins (probably pre-made given they're still churning out DSF printed pins and not the new GSF pins) will be released, and that's why the order of appearance is so whack? I mean, I don't understand what the stream of consciousness is that would make sense of Swedish Chef --> Scar --> Owl --> Blue Pascal --> Wendy --> Hathi Jr. O_O;
 
They are pretty much just random. That's part of the fun of it. They do popular characters like Jessica, Cheshire Cat, Stitch and Pascal but then they also do some really rare characters like Giselle, Lumpy and Skippy. It's always fun to see who's next!
 

It is random, and that is the addiction of it. It's a great idea and a great set an it is cool wondering who will come next. The only person who really knows who is coming up next are the pin designers, who make most of the pin designs for GSF and the manager who chooses which pin is next. Some people have inside sources who can tell them who is coming up within the next few months, but nobody knows the order of them.
 


That does make things interesting. I was entertaining the idea that there is some sort of lottery in which the subsequent characters are chosen. It sounds like Apple's level of secrecy and hype XD
