Question about Disney PODMs... Your Opinion

Hey Everyone

Since it is getting closer to the next Disney PODM release I thought I would ask everyone's opinion on a matter of the PODMs.

As we have seen in the last few PODMs (Aladdin, Monster's Inc., Finding Nemo) that there are virtually no bad scenes (such as the "butt" scenes or no characters to be seen, just backgrounds) to choose from unlike the first older PODMs (Bambi, Cinderella, AIW, Peter Pan, etc.) does that make the newer PODMs worth any less than those of the older PODMs that come with really good scenes (ex. Peter Pan PODM with Tinker Bell or Peter Pan)? Or does it make the older PODMs that come with really good scenes worth more than the newer ones?

Honestly, with PODM's, the scene makes the pins value. Lets take Fantasia from last year. I kid you not, there were scenes with just stars in them. BOOOOORRRRRING. So yes, because fewer fantasia PODM's have charactures in them they will sell/trade better because of it.

I do have to say though, some of the movies they are doing this year are going to make even "bad scenes" trade/sell well. Just better collectability in general.

Bambi, from last year, with a good character scene will trade/sell about as well as Tangled with decent but not perfect scenes. Did I make sense? This is personal opinion BTW, I collect Thumper and Tangled, so I use those as best examples for me. I won't pay $100.00 for a Bambi PODM even if Thumper is on the film cell, nor will I trade 2 for 1 Bambi to Tangled because I consider them equal if the Bambi scene is good and the Tangled scene is decent.

i must say they are "hotcakes" no matter what, but for me i am bummed because unless you have a back light in a display- no matter what the scene is -you cant see them in a book or shadow box or frame......so basically all of them have less value to me than a normal pin.

I think that for the most part last years pomh's "good ones" are way more valuable than this years pomh's because there is such a vast difference between the two years. But I think that it also depends on the movie - and thus the collectibility of the characters.

But yes because they are all "good" this year - it has brought the value of them to a plateau. If you look on ebay - no matter the cell in Aladdin POMH's they are all selling for roughly the same amount. Which is nothing like last year where cell containing Alice would sell for double or more than what a cell with the doormouse sold for. Also I think that a lot of people are going to FLOOD the market w the Tangled POMH's and that will make them easily attainable on the third market. But I guess only time will tell.

yup, Thats part of why I am buying extras for trade, not sale with Tangled. Folks are pre-selling them on evilbay already. It is going to make resale lower on the profit margins.

I think a year from now they will still be the same because people are going to have "leftovers" that didnt sell on the market. I dont think a POMH will ever do better than Snow White lol . . .. and I still kick myself for not getting more than 2 or myself - they sat on the shelves for three weeks!!! and each time I saw them I thought about buying one more lol . . . . and everyone I picked them up for that month got a snow white! lol . . .

Crystal - I know exactly how you feel!!! I was at WDW for the "Love is Magical" Pin Event that month Snow White came out and only got 2. I kept one but the other I traded away here on DPF for an Alice in Wonderland PODM with Alice and the March Hare and feel really bad about that trade now and feel like I was screwed over and I have been kicking myself ever since especially since the one I traded away had Snow White & Dopey in it At least the one I have in my collection also has Snow White and Dopey in it.

Cant hate yourself about past pins. There are pins that we all pass up not thinking it would be anything popular, passing them up every time we seen them. *Cough* DSF tangled pins..

Also what cali gurl said. Flooded. But later on, who knows. Tangled may be even more popular OR die out. If we knew, we all would buy a ton and keep them or just buy our one and not worry about it. Anyway its not about trying to get the best and what other may want. Its about getting the best for you and what you want

I just started trading in March, and I recently decided to collect all the PODM. Why is Snow white so freaken expensive?!

i put a glow in the dark sheet behind mine and i bring a UV light, shows off all the pins and when i turn the light off the scene shows. just looks awesome.

I think the Snow White PODM is so expensive because not many people knew about it being released at the time it was put out and that this was a brand new series and so after each PODM came out, more and more people knew about the releases and the series became popular. Hope that makes some sense.

Snow white is so exspensive because there were not many pins that actually had Snow White in them. Plus it was the first one in the series. It usually happens that the first one in the series is the most expensive one. Look at the DLR classic D's. The first series of piece of history pins.
