I was looking at the threads about people being zapped and i started to wonder how many of the Zappers know the Zappees. Soooooo...

If and when you Zap, Is it someone you know or a stranger on DPF? If you do both, what is the percentage of zaps to strangers v. people you know?

Also, If you don't know them, is that technically a RAK?

Sometimes I zap a stranger, like if we were trading through pinpics, and they were nice, I'd add a little something to the trade. I have only zapped a few times on here, as my collection is still small, but I LOVE doing it. So far I have zapped people that I notice being kind to others.
 
Well, I always enjoy Zapping my friends I have made here because I have lots of love for my friends, but I love zapping others too! a good example, I have a transaction with an individual/s right now and I was responding to thier message, when I happened to see something in thier siggy that they want and I have in my traders, so I was delighted to put that pin in their order too, because I love zapping, because the times I have been zapped, make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside and I get a big smile and I feel well... so happy and it makes me happy that I can do that to someone too, it's fun! unfourtunatley I don't have grail staus pins to zap and wish I did and could but I give what I can, and it seems even the smaller pins still bring great smiles!and I love it! and I make some new friends too!
 
I really don't know anyone from the forum IRL, so just about all of the zaps I've sent have been to strangers... But with most of the zaps, I have either spoken to the recipient online or traded with them at least once.

If I notice a person is particularly nice, and I happen to have a pin from their wants list, then I zap them. Simple as that.
 
Most of the time I zap people I have never meet IRL. And most of the time there is not really a post about (which I rather like. dont want to compete with Rasputan and Doc) I zap people in know IRL while I see them at events and such.
 
I only know one person IRL from the forum and she hasn't been on in a long time (SueZ). Otherwise, I find people who match a want with my trades. Especially when I see them being supportive or nice to others. Sometimes while doing a trade, but often just send them on their own.

I know how I feel receiving them, and I feel just as wonderful sending them! So ZAP away! I highly recommend it! :salute:
 
When I zap, which has only been a few times, it's either friends, people who are helping me obtain a pin, or people I'm trading with that seem nice and friendly!! I love zapping people and old do it a lot more if I had more decent pins hehe!! .when I trade with people I keep a note of addresses in my pin address book, so if I want to zap in the future I don't have to spoil the surprise and pm them for their address
 
Though I haven't done much in the way of zapping,when I have it is normally with people I have traded with previously. I only know one person IRL and though I have giving them pins, I hadn't really thought of it as zapping?!
 
I'm looking to start "zapping" (good pin karma, you know). I've just started clicking on people's "wants" to see what they like and tried to match with what I have. I always look at people's grails too, you never know what they might want. I don't have the ability to zap with expensive grail pins, eventually I'll get there though!

When I trade with someone I always have a look at their wants if there is something I can add, or if I know someone needs a little bit of sunshine I try to put a zap together to brighten up their day
 
I love zapping! It makes me feel happy that I can put a smile on someone's face. I am still quite new to the forum so all the zapping I've done has been with people I don't know. It's been really fun so far.
 
I do both, it is usually about 70% I have traded with before and 30% that I have noticed on the forum.

A RAK is an organized group of people zapping one person a month and I believe Disxar is taking over those.

As you probably know (since I have noticed your name more and more) zapping is a purely selfish act. The feeling I get when I find out the person receiving it really is thrilled with what you sent them is awesome, for me at least. So I get a good feeling and the zappee gets a good feeling, everybody wins!!!
 
My tendancy is to zap someone I am doing a trade with right now, just because I am already sending out soooo much with the Zap Mayhem 2013. My "Zap Mayhem" thing... Those are all zaps sent to people that got nominated. Many of the nominee's are people i have never met or traded with before.

I try to zap whoever I am in the process of trading with.
I compare their wants list to what I have and see if I can throw in a little extra.
I receive so much kindness from everyone around me, that it's nice to pay it forward here on DPF
 
I have onlyy zapped 2 people and I do not know anyone who trades pins outside of this forum other then my family.. So everyone I have zapped or been zapped by are strangers. For since I am very new to collecting I like to look at what people have on there want list and there have only been a few who have pins that I have on my trade list that they need so those where the ones who got zapped. I am sure as I get more pins over the year there will be more people that I send pins to.
 
I have only really had the privilege to zap one person, and I only "knew" the from post on the forum, maybe an occasional pm. I hope I eventually have the ability to do it often!
 
I haven't done much trading yet but my daughter has zapped a few times and they were strangers. She loves sending surprises if the trade goes well and the person is nice.

I have recently sold a bunch of pins and I included zaps with each of them. I have zapped two members in person (the only two I have met in person) as well as a zap to a person that posted on a thread and said that the pin being sold was a grail for them but they could not afford it at that time.

I have zapped a few strangers but they can not thank me because they have no idea who sent them, I like it that way the most and actually tend to avoid the zap section altogether. Anonymous giving is the very very best feeling and I recommend it highly. When there is no glory/praise for a RAK the true gift shines through all the better imo.

As I get a better collection going I will do my best to ZAP or RAK as many members as possible.
