Rant from a CM at DLR about APs buying too many duplicate pins
Her rant was unprofessional, but it sounds like a symptom of the ongoing struggle of Disneyland to deal with the tensions between the notoriously low-spending regulars/AP holders and the spend-crazy tourists.
That CM needs to stay within her circle of concern.....
I can partially understand the THEORY of her rant, but I would take a large issue with her general tone of assumption that anyone who buys more than one of a pin is a re-seller. It was absurd of her to list off the details of the annual pass contract. You could be buying one for you and one as a gift or one for you and one as a trader. She has no business assuming that a second pin automatically means *DING DING DING* reseller.
I'm thinking the bean counters are ecstatic and the CMs are the ones taking the heat for product selling out and the distribution being unfair.
Since bean counters rule the world, I don't foresee anything changing in the near future.
No they don't. I don't recall being able to purchase anything released that was LE from a Disney website, or anything from the DSF for that matter. Unless you camp out and are physically there, there are a lot of pins you cannot obtain unless you are physically there, therefore making it impossible for the majority of people that live no where close to the parks can obtain these, unless it IS on the secondary market.
recently: Peter Pan box set, Snow White box set, Monsters Inc. box set, Brave box set, Wreck It Ralph (jumbo + box set), Finding Nemo 3d box set, etc...
Pretty sure there have been plenty of LE pins released on the online disney store since last August
We must all understand that this anger and annoyance must come from somewhere, I can personally tell you as a former cast member I did not like some pin traders (before I started pin trading) I hated when I was forced to use the GC pin lanyard because I had to deal with real jerks. One big one that always pissed me off to no end was when I was working Main Street GC two people waled up to me at the same time, an older man and a little girl about 8-10 she loved this old rack pin and really wanted it but the older guy started to yell at her saying its his and she should not even look at the lanyard until he is done. I was so mad I wanted to say something but I didn't. I ended up giving the girl a whole new bag of The Little Mermaid Shells and telling her sorry.
a cast member told me what triggered this whole thing as well. When the Pixar boxes came out a known reseller bought over 100 boxes with the aid of a cm, buying out a good portion from the store. Than reselling the Pixar pins locking the price at such a ridiculous price, (this is why I am more than willing to wait, let's not forget the stamps how much are they now? That's right at $2-5$) this monopoly of pins is not ok, I don't mind reselling and asking for whatever you want that's your choice, but to hord boxes and not let anyone else buy the boxes than esantualy shark people into trading low LEs for a limited release pin. I understand the chasers there LE 200 and that is a reasonable trade but the non LE, comeon guys. Don't get me wrong it's not only the owner who is to blame its the traders that are willing to pay and trade for the pins that are just as much to blame. If we all refuse to pay such high amount or trade high than the supplier would have to go down in value. I personally like this new plan this just means I might have a chance to buy and get some princes Carrosel pins.
I have so many horror Stories about pin traders that I so understand this anger. It's not everyone but it only takes one to tarnish our comunaty in there eyes.
WHAT IS THE LIMITED EDITION / LIMITED RELEASE PURCHASE POLICY? Guests may purchase up to two (2) Limited Edition pins of a particular style (e.g. SKU), per Guest, per day. In other words, if Disney pin or set is released and it contains a Limited Edition stamp ("Limited Edition of"), a Guest may purchase up to two (2) of those items per day. The next day, a Guest can purchase another two of those same Limited Edition items. This policy covers any individual Disney pins or sets stamped with the specific words "Limited Edition."
This policy does NOT include any individual Disney pins or sets stamped with the words "Limited Release." Examples of these Limited Release items could include individual logo pins or mystery sets. Guests may purchase as many of those limited release items as desired.
Disney reserves the right to modify this policy. In the rare instance a modification is made, this information will be communicated via DisneyPins.com.

"we are sold out.. and thats thousonds of dollars" with a odd look on his face. not sure what good reason anyone could make up for needing this amount of pins.
