Maybe I'm missing something, but can someone explain to me why people keep sending the same pin trade request over and over again even after you have politely declined the trade? I can understand sending it over and over again if you never get a response.

For example, lately I keep getting this same pin trade request:

[name redacted] offers nWoJeffDW this pin: Pin 86331 (Vinylmation Mystery Pin Collection - Park #7 - Muppet Vision 3D Balloon Only)
In return for one of these pins:
Pin 9961 (DLR - Allison Lefcort Color Portrait Boxed Pin (Tinker Bell/Purple))
Pin 53353 (Disneyshopping.com - Spring Break Series (Peter Pan))
Pin 59999 (DLR - Featured Artist Collection 2008 - Walt Disney's Peter Pan - 55th Anniversary (Jumbo))

Now obviously this is not a fair trade, and I've already politely declined, but I am still getting the request. And this has happened at other times to the point where I had to block the person to stop receiving the same trade request over and over again.

So am I just missing something? Is there a reason I don't know to sending the same TA over and over again? Just wondering.:dunno:

Some people may not know they are sending it to the same person over and over when they make the request the next day, etc. I had that happen last week when I was waiting on a trade here to finalize and me to receive the pin, but someone sent me requests 4 days in a row with that same pin. The first & second day I explained I had already made a deal for it and was just waiting for it to arrive, but on Days 3 & 4 I just deleted the request, since I figured I already explained why.

I know I send requests to the same people, but I never hear back to begin with. If they were to return the request with a no thank you; I would know they are not interested, and I would try to catch the trade in the pending file so I am not nagging them. I do that for a few people I have dealt with before, both in trade and in rejection, because I know if I don't nag, if I get something they DO want, I might be able to work with them.

Sorry, I am laughing with you and not at you, you just have joined in the laugh yet. lolol

Yes, this is irratating. Maybe if the person mentioned that they would be open for a counter, something more equal, but it does not apear that way.

Sometimes when sending out A lot of requests, they do not take the time to review what is being sent. I have to admit I do not always check either. :-( Of course I only have sent a few crazy requests out, but I ALWAYS put that it is NOT a trade request, just an opportunity to open dialog about their pin. :-)

Hope they stop houding you.

Vicki

This is why I am afraid to send requests. I'm not very good at keeping track of requests I've already sent, and for fear of being a pain the you-know-what, I just elect not to send a the request. So of course, then I worry that I've missed out on a trade... Vicious downward spiral.

+1

It is not desired, but happens from time to time. I usually remove that one annoying pin from my wants list, go buy iton Ebay if it is an easy one, do something to avoid getting the same request again.

Sometimes they might not know what they are doing, but it becomes more trying if the request is coming from a seasoned trader or *gasp* from another DPF member. I still would like to give people the benefit of doubt though.

You might want to explain to the person how to review their pending trades and delete your name before the requests get sent. I didn't realize for a long time where that feature was, so I thought there was no way to edit who your requests go to. He probably thinks that the request could be going to several people, so he keeps sending it expecting someone else to eventually respond.

I imagine it's a person who are trying to trade away a certain pin. Click on "what can I receive for trading this pin" and clicking away. Then not reviewing the pending requests. I try to avoid duplicate requests too close together by only sending out requests for a certain pin (either a pin I want or a pin I have) and then not sending out additional requests for a couple of months. So for example, a week ago I sent out requests for the last of the PWP keys I need. So I won't use Pinpics to try and trade for those again until the end of the year. I can tell which pins I've sent requests for, because the links will change color.

Some people may not know they are sending it to the same person over and over when they make the request the next day, etc.

*Raises hand* Guilty! I'm sure I was very bad about this when I first got on pinpics. I try to be more conscious(SP?) about it but i'm sure it still happens with me.

Eh...I actually don't know how to tell who I'm sending a trade request out to on Pinpics. I'm sure I've made this mistake. Sorry for annoying anyone, I'm still just a humble noob. =_=

Happens all the time to me - I have one really nice pin that has the top, but not the bottom, post on back. It's perfectly perfect on the front, but when I got a TA for it, I wanted to be sure the person sending the TA knew before we got past the very first email. They said 'no thanks.' Cool - no worries. Ha - but I still get TAs from them and just do a little reminder that it's still the same pin...with the same missing post. ;) No biggie!

People don't always check, I sooooo get that - sometimes I do it! I clickity-click and then something comes up and I don't go through and filter and bam...the next morning I get an earful. :(

In regard to always answering, shoot, I get so busy sometimes I just fly through the emails; on mornings when they're really thick I don't always respond [/hanging my head in shame]. I know, I know, just tie me up with my lanyard. :(

We're all just human and everyone deserves a break sometimes. Try not to fret about your situation - once you've said no once, or even twice, just take the two seconds to read/delete.

Oh, one other thing - if someone is truly driving you nuts (this is extreme though) you can set up your email to send anything from them directly to another folder (you could check once a week) or (this is the extreme part) to the trash. I had to do this once a long, long time ago - we'd had a few emails and trades that weren't very fun...he was kinda mean in email, very pushy and taking advantage. Then I traded him a sedesma set [/don't look at me like that, he wanted it! ;)] for two pins...he got them and complained I painted them...?! Huh?! That's how sedesma look. I don't even paint my toes neatly half the time and you think I'm going to monkey with trying to paint a pin?! Okay, groovy, no worries, we 'untraded,' I thought all was happy/happy. (Obviously this is getting too long...I'm wrapping it up) Once he got vicious and mean with emails I blocked his emails. I'm super easy and I don't fly off the handle or get mad; I made one of my best friend on here by chiming in, in the beginning of our trade, that she was offering WAY too much...last thing I'm going to do is take advantage of someone...but I'm smart enough to know when to remove myself from an unhealthy situation and sometimes you just have to. ....jeepers, I got off on a tangent, eh?!

I have one like that. I'm suspicious its a youngster. After responding a couple of times, I stopped responding, delete and move on. I assume that they're a newbie (we've all been there at sometime) :wiggle:. Either they'll learn and start making more sensible offers or they'll fall to the wayside.

I actually had a member here do this to me. Annoyed me so I asked the person if they could stop sending the requests to me and they told me off and if I didn't like it then I should turn the TA off. I even offered to help her figure out how to uncheck my name in the pending results.

I guess that's what you get for trying to be nice.

LOL, That might be me  I send out requests for the pin every couple of days since there are a few actively trading it, and I usually catch it to delete from yours but every now and then I miss it

Can you believe some of the trades that trade assisstant allows you to check off .
Example : I'm looking for say, a designer princess pin 150 LE and have desirable pins to trade . I go to send out requests and see HM Series 3 Chip n Dale Turkey Leg .
Who manages these trades ?

Here's a silly question because I might be one of those people sending the same request multiple times - how do you set a filter not to send to someone?

I'm right there with you LB. I am somewhat of a pinpics caveperson compared to some of you all. I just check boxes but don't actually see who the requests were sent to until they actually go out and I get the notification from pinpics. On a side note, I do not just check all boxes of matches...I try to look and see what would be a fair trade based on LE, wants/trades ratio, and both original and current going price of pin on eBay. It is really quite complicated so I don't wind up sending out many requests.

This is what I do - and for the life of me I can't remember who I sent requests to before or what I offered  But I always try to make it fair and put a note in (that not everybody reads) that I'd be willing to trade multiples if the pin I'm offering is borderline.

I usually over-trade for my pins - Aside from the designer princesses I'm pretty open with what I trade - if it's off my wants I almost always trade for it.

I do not think there is a filter on PinPics short of turning off your TA to where you can make trades, but not receive trades. I just keep a list of screen names I do not trade with (only a couple) and a couple of names for things like the pin they have I want is damaged, etc, and before I go to sleep at night (as I work on my trade requests throughout the day), I check my list and if I have a request pending for one of those names or that specific pin(s), I delete it from the trade assistant under "My PinPics" and then "Click here to view your current pending trade requests"

Yes, I do that too . I always try to make sure , my tradeable pin is equal to the pin I want . I only check off ones that are equal . I also add a side note, will trade multiples for this trade . I was just saying , some are just ridiculous . Could you imagine having an LE 150 pin and someone sends you a trade request with a HM as the trade .

That's why I took all my Hidden Mickeys off my wants and traders lists so I would stop getting requests for an LE125-LE250. I realize some people are new at this and may not realize what they are doing, but I figured "Why not put the fire out before it starts"

Thanks! I did not even know you could view pending trade requests :)
