Ripped Off By Trader.
I think we've all gotten burned. A few years ago Disney sold a lanyard medal that was just a magnifying glass. My wife bought it for handy pin inspections. Since then we have added 2x glasses and a good small flashlight to our trader bag because sometimes it's hard to see. We still get burned occasionally but when we have doubts we don't risk anything of real value.

I recently made a trade on pinpics for 4 commonly scrapped HM's. I politely asked that they check them on pinpics to make sure they weren't scrappers, as there were descriptions of the scrappers for all 4. When I received them in the mail they were all obviously scrappers. Luckily I hadn't sent mine out yet, but it cost me $3 to mail them back to the person. To top it off, when I told them about it in a very nice way not accusing them of anything, they were offended and said I must not know what Disney pins look like.
