I am amazed that what is supposed to be a fun hobby can lead to some people being so outright rude and disrespectful. I don't often make pinpics trade requests. However, having a few new traders, I thought I would give it a try and see if I could make any trades. I've received some positives, and some no thank yous. Obviously I don't expect every trade request to make a reply, let alone ones in the affirmative, but I do expect that a level of courtesy and good manners is maintained. As such I was really offended by someone getting back to me in massive red, bold letters saying you must be joking with about eight exclamation marks after it. I must say that all of the other messages have been very polite whether they are one way or the other, but this rather obnoxious one really got under my skin and annoyed me. It's not as if I was offering a hidden mickey for an LE100 Ariel or something ridiculous like that either. I was offering a pin which has pretty much the same value on ebay and that's when just looking at buy it nows compared to the auction prices of the one I offered, so the buy it nows may have been higher than the general auction selling price anyway. The T/Ws were within a reasonable similarity as were the original retail price. In any case, they were not so far away from each other as to warrant that reaction even if I wouldn't respond like they did whatever the request anyway.

What probably bothers me most about it is that if I was a new trader and had a really aggressive, snobbish response like that I wouldn't bother attempting to trade again in all likelihood. People like that really make trading unpleasant even if I only have good things to say about all the other responses I had. And when it is supposed to be a fun hobby, I just really think people should at least attempt to be pleasant and polite.

Anyway, apologies about ranting, I hate being negative. Just had to get it off my chest lol
 
Confession: I'm afraid of PinPics trades and have only tried a handful of times. Not that I have a zillion traders or anything really worthwhile, but my experiences with PinPics trading has always been sort of frustrating. I've never gotten anything quite so ... bold, we'll say, but it seems like rudeness is becoming an unfortunate trend.

I've stopped trading via Pinpics not because I've received rude responses, but because I never receive a response at all! I've sent out multiple trade requests and...nothing. The only thing I can figure is that whoever the requests are being sent to are no longer active in pin trading, or the email address no longer exists...I send out reasonable trade requests (OEs for OEs, LEs for LEs, and sometimes multiple pins on my end for one pin on their end) so I know I'm being fair...if the requests are being received, a simple "No thank you" would be the courteous thing to do...ah well.
 
I did not have the bold red letters, but I had a similarly frustrating experience last week when someone thought I was wasting their time because I sent them a request for 4 different pins for the one I offered, and they chose one and e-mailed back; but I had already worked out something for the pin they offered. They kept going on and on that I was wasting their time because my trade requests were not accurate, and I was spamming, even though I tried to explain that I accepted another offer, and it was not a slight on them, and that I still had the pin I offered them if they wanted to work something out. What kind of got me was they were concerned about wasting their time, but I had sent them 7+ requests over the last 30 days (Google Mail is a great tool, LOL) and only that one was responded to.

I mention this not to hijack your thread, but to add to the discussion about the level of rudeness that seems to be happening more and more. Yes, I actually am getting more responses, but just saying "No" or lecturing someone, or especially yelling at a person, does not seem to the way to go. There is nothing wrong in saying "No Thank You" or as I do, "Thank you for the offer, but I will have to pass at this time"

I have rude responses, but nothing like that! Totally unnecessary. I have turned off Trade Assistant because of jerky responses, uneven trade requests and getting no responses at all. It's just not worth it. I'd rather try to trade on the forum and Facebook. I'm sorry that happened to you.
 
Feel free to vent because I am sure you are not the only one who has gotten the same response.

I have had some good trades via pinpics but wondered if a trade went wrong, are there any mods to help out or report abusive behaviour to.
 
First, let me say that I've done most of my trading in this hobby through Pin Pics. Certainly, there are hiccups like encountering a trader who is blatantly rude or traders who are new and buy lots off ebay and have mostly scrappers. However, my experiences have been mainly positive.

In the couple of encounters I have had where a trader has rudely replied, I have taken the time to respond by letting them know that perhaps there is a better way of communicating their disinterest, and even, if they really wanted to enhance the hobby and it's members, to educate as to why that person feels a pin is not equitable to the other. I have then also taken the time to write down the person's name, and never trade with them or reply to another email/request from them again. Why waste your time and get upset over someone who clearly just isn't worth it!!

As for newer traders sending out scrappers, I have learned that most of them are truly apologetic about it, and are seeking to learn rather than avoiding dealing with the problem. Most people understand from the outset that reputation in a hobby so dependent on honesty and good faith is very important. With these particular newer members of the hobby, I do take the time to instruct, educate, direct, and provide learning sources so that some day they can pay forward the same lessons to future members, all the while becoming more aware themselves!

The couple of times I have dealt with unresponsive members, or members not willing to take care of an issue, I have contacted pin pics, and they have gotten the matter resolved for me. -- I also make sure not to deal with those members again.

I also try to set the proper example by answering ALL requests, with either a simple "Thank you for the offer, but I'll pass for now. Good luck!" or an actual beginning foundation for working on a trade...

I think the best way to play with pin pics is to check references either here or on Dizpins. If the person has an extensive list with recognizable members, I usually don't even worry, and send out pins without a problem. However, if a person has little to no feedback and their traders are full of common scrappers, I'm more careful, I request pictures, etc. At the utmost extreme, when I feel the need to be very cautious, I'll ask the person to please send their pins first (I've done this once so far).

Open lines of communication, and flexibility and kindness goes a long way. I don't think there is much reason to fear pin pics as much as some people do.

I haven't had any rude responses to pinpics requests from what I can remember. I myself answer requests with a polite response if I do not wish to do the trade. Usually the only exception is when I get the exact same response from yesterday from the same person, then I usually don't reply... but I wouldn't be rude to someone even if the request was crazy. lol.

I have had maybe 10 or so trade via pinpics and always mention I will be leaving positive feedback for the trade and as for feedback too but no one ever does that. I even met one of the persons I traded with and he admitted to me that he was not sure if he should have sent out the request because I had so little feedback yet he didn't leave any after we completed our trade. I even realized that the feedback on pinpics is not rated as positive or negative, just if you traded, purchased, or repeat traded.

There are always a few people out there who never got taught manners. Don't let them spoil your trade fun.
 

Some people aren't great about leaving feedback, but I always politely state, in multiple emails (including when I advise that I have shipped, and when I advise of receipt) that "Upon receipt, I will leave feedback for you, and I would appreciate it you would do the same." Sure you can't force them, but maybe a reminder would work??
 
I didnt know WHERE to leave feedback for the longest time. I would ask if they were on DPF and leave feedback here, but a few times people would ask for feedback and were not on DPF, so I would reply asking where I should leave it, and got no response!

only twice have people mentioned that I dont have much dizpins feedback, so I tell them my name here or offer to ship first. most people are friendly to me... when they bother to reply, that is.
 
I got a request from someone, accepted the trade. We exchanged information, they sent me a fake tracking number, which I looked up the day I was about to send out my pin. I emailed them about the invalid tracking number, they waited a week to respond. They said they didn't want to do the trade after all; it sounded like they were just out to get free pins. I had never had this happen, and because of it, I will no longer be trading via pinpics.


You don't only have to worry about rude people on pinpics, you also have to worry about thieves!
 
I'm sorry to hear that. I am a very new trader and have only gotten one response (a polite no thank you) for the couple of trade requests I've sent on PinPics. Other than that, I haven't heard a thing even acknowledging the request. The response you got would definitely turn me off from trading on PinPics. I think it's important to always treat someone the way you want to be treated and to remember that someone may not have what you want now but they may have your grail in the future! I've had great experiences so far on this site though.
 
o boy. Yes everyone should leave feedback on dizpins if the trade is via pinpics AND YOU SHOULD NEVER TRADE WITHOUT CHECKING FEEDBACK.

anywho --HI EVERYBODY....i think i have traded with just about everyone on here.....

listen F those people. Maybe its cause im 45 or bitter or a stinker or tired but WHO CARES? yeh its insulting with the stupid red type....their loss. Ill trade! I agree with pixie, id send a quick " you are rude" and call it a day. Not meant to be. As scar said IM SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS-------------i never post the amazing crap stories i have dealt with.

EX... new or quiet members who complain that nobody trades with them, only to PM these folks with awesome multi trades to their benefit than have it drag on for 2 weeks + until i bail. Or active traders on here who whine that they cant get a "grail" and i offer it and they milk me for pins and then cancel a trade. Please. Take it with a grain of salt or pin trading will make you sad. I just laugh and ignore. i remember all bad experiences and never ever trade with those people again.. good bye.
 
You win some you lose some. Some are very rude when you politely decline. They aught to be happy they got a response at all. It got to the point where I just stopped saying "No Thanks" and I don't even respond anymore. Megfan, you send me a lot of requests, I don't always respond. Some of them are pretty even, some not so much, but I just assume the lopsided ones were maybe meant for people who wanted multiples of your traders but since I only wanted 1 the multiple offer didn't really apply. That's ok. I don't expect every person to go in and review every trade request going out. Especially for newer pins with tons of traders and tons of wanters. Often just a 1 pin for 1 pin request can lead to about 20 emails going out. Just brush the rude ones off.
 
This is why I always put "no need to reply if not interested" in the message line. I'd rather get 1 "yes" response than 20 "no thanks". As it is, I rarely get any PinPics trade requests anymore. When I get a good trader, I'll send out some requests, but it's not like it used to be. Manners-wise, there is no reason to send a rude email about a pin request. Roll your eyes and blow it off
 

Wow. Unbelievable. Yeah I don't use pinpics trading assistant anymore, just not a good system to trust and I've only had one successful trade..
 
I must admit I am one of those people that doesn't respond if I'm not interested. If that offends anyone I am sorry, but I (personally) don't like a bunch of "No thank you" emails clogging up my inbox...and I assume that if someone doesn't reply they obviously aren't interested...ya know?

Also I go through phases...sometimes I am really in a trading mood, and even though I don't like the initial request that was sent I will try to see if we have any other potential matches. And other times I am busy or not really into trading and will quickly read the emails, and if nothing initially catches my eye I will delete it.

Now to go out of your way to respond rudely to a trade request instead of just deleting it? I don't get it. :facepalm:
 
I recently had the exact same thing happen to me. I wonder if it was the same person. LOL! I replied to them and told them there was no need for rudeness that a simple no thank you was sufficient or if they were so offended that they did not even have to respond. The bad thing is that their user name is anonymous so I can't even delete and requests going to them.
 
I have been Trading for about 10 years and I still use both DPF and PinPics TA. Some people are just nasty A-holes and hide behind the wall of the Internet. I would think that if you met these people face-to-face they would display the same bad traits that they do with their Internet personna.

I ALWAYS respond to TA with an answer, even if its "No thanks". I appreciate the same and I have no problem with my in-box getting full of No Thanks responses - at least its an answer.

Remember, this is only a HOBBY!!

And thanks for all the comments/reading the rant lol. I can relax a bit and forget about it now
