Scrapper and Counterfeit Pins (facebook pictures)

Do you notice they don't seem to fake uk pins there was a couple of uk ones in the early days but not any more they should get the same company that makes uk pins to make the others and maybe they wouldn't fake them
 
So many DSF pins that's crazy, how will i know what are counterfeit & what aren't ??? they looks like the same to me

I noticed that as well, I feel much more secure buying UK pins for this reason.
 
I'm actually serious. How do people know those are counterfeit? Is it only that they're being sold by a person who has sold other counterfeits? I'm not saying that's not a compelling reason to be suspicious, but are there any other indicators?
 
These aren't counterfeits, they are officially-made scrappers. The seller has a connection to the factory (I'm guessing either they work there and smuggle them out, they have another connection within the factory, or they go dumpster diving).

As for how we know - this seller is well known for EXCLUSIVELY selling scrappers. Like, they sell zero legit pins. They are based in China and always have multiples of these LE pins for prices much lower than the going price. Often with obvious scrapper signs (like LE numbers missing from Paris trade night pins). Occasionally they will have pins that haven't even been released yet, or pins that were officially pulled from being released. So if a pin pops up in their shop it is 100% guaranteed to be a scrapper.

I would agree with that statement EXCEPT for the 2007 Jungle Book marquee. A scrapper coming out 8 years later is very odd.

Also, when this particular seller has scrappers, he (or she, I have no idea of the seller's gender) typically has no more than 10 (usually 5-6) for the LE pins.

But some of these pins have also shown up being sold by known counterfeit sellers on ebay (frozen #3 marquee for one)

Thanks for the heads up. They must work at a factory and have access to samples and over runs. I've thought they might be the owner or manager. Very frustrating.

I agree, although I have noticed that he has a lot of OEs, which would tend to have a ton more scrappers than LE pins.
 
In the past, I've done a bunch of investigating on Asian marketplace websites. After seeing this thread, I pulled them up again. The listing with the most pictures mentions having "there are total about 1500 different styles molds,300 different styles update per week" (whatever that last bit means). So it's probably both. There is the official scrap, plus they're probably moved onto remaking things via the original molds (as opposed to what the 2 men convicted were supposedly doing, which was having new molds made via duplicating a pin sent to them. Oh wow, the packaging! This is disgusting! What the actual eff!

 
Yeah, so all those cheap boosters on Ebay, whatever wasn't stolen, probably isn't authentic either. Well, they could have been made and packaged, and sold via China never having ever reached an authentic Disney retail outlet. At this point, I don't know what can be done.
