Scrappers of the DSF Jasmine Surprise Jumbo
I can't comment on the front of the pins, but I've purchased many DSF pins and it's very common for the ice cream cone pattern on the back to have edging. The fact that the ice cream cones don't go off the edges (like the Mickey waffle patterns seen on most pins) does NOT mean it's fake.

Right, the framing is fairly common on the DSF pins these days. However, there are several differences on the fronts (lack of gleam, poor details in Al's face, Jasmine's weird eyes...) that when coupled with the edge frame, that's a major red flag.

So here's another wrinkle for everyone. My scrapper came on a DSF card (which looks, for all intents and purposes, to be real), in its packaging, and has the correct barcode sticker on it... What's up with that!? Was this some kind of premeditated thing, or are the scrappers sending it out with the card? If so, you gotta admire their attention to detail... (you don't, actually...)

Someone posted on facebook that he was at the original release and not all of the Jasmine jumbos had the silk screening on the earrings and necklace. I can't speak to the other issues, but it's rather notable that the card, bar code, etc, all line up. I'm not trying to defend the trader (I have no idea who it is) but perhaps yours isn't a fake as much as it was bad QC? Trying to look on the bright side....

Does he have proof that he was part of the original release? He could be trying to trade his scrapper away without any hassle.

I'm assuming they are getting these directly from the Chinese Factory. Which means if they have access to the assembly line, they have access to the cards and the plastic bags with price tags. The cones, rivets and posts all match in placement as the real ones. So I think these were made at the same time. Just the unauthorized ones didn't go through one of the steps to add the final details.

It was just a Facebook discussion. I didn't ask for "proof" because he wasn't attempting to sell or trade any pins.

At the end of the day, that's all we can do, right? Hahah. Since I've never heard back from him, I've just made my peace with it. The pin is still lovely and certainly fooled me until a side by side comparison.

I think the differences are more in line with scrappers, particularly since one's that look just like mine are being sold for less than $20 on evil bay directly from Hong Kong from a known scrapper seller.

I'm willing to believe that the trader was duped, certainly. I don't like thinking there was some nefarious plot. Hahah!

As far as these not being counterfeits from China, if you go to eBay and search "Jasmine Rajah pin" and set it to "Time: Newly listed", the 4th or 5th pin down on the list is from China and listed for $17.99 and there are no highlights on Jasmine's jewelry. This does seem to support the claims that those without jewelry highlights are fakes and are being made and sold from China...
