Thanks to an auction in a thread on this forum I had a FABULOUS idea! My cousin is a first grade teacher at an inner city school in Baltimore. It just so happens that I will be traveling to meet my family for the holidays so I would LOVE to deliver a bunch of pins to him. I sent him an email this morning and he has already responded! Him and his team of teachers from the entire first grade think its a great incentive for the kids for behavior and work habits!

So, I'm reaching out to all of you! If you donate your scrapers then I will reimburse your shipping costs when I receive them! Please PM me and I will provide my shipping address and give me your email so I can return your costs. I already went through my collection and I am pretty sure I have about 20 scrapers so that's what I am starting with.

I think this is such a great idea! Thank you for the thread below for starting their auction for the inspiration to make a difference in the kids lives. The stories I have heard from him are heart breaking. I will be so glad to contribute to anything positive in the kids lives!!!

cool thread, keep bumping it )can only bump once a day and i suggest after 6pm PST...you'll get the most peeks. I dont have any scrappers sorry

Thanks Dawny....I didn't know you could "bump" and can only do it once a day! I wish I didn't have any scrappers either! But I might as well put them to good use. These past few weeks have been a great learning experience for me!!

I totally agree Zack_attack...I actually thought about that, but the odds of any of these kids ending up anywhere they would ever be able to trade them is slim while they are kids at least. My cousin tells me their parents never return phone calls or go to parent teacher conferences...I doubt they would take their kids to WDW or DLR since they are so far away and that would involve effort on their parts. Its SERIOUSLY sad the stories he tells Trying to bring a piece of the magic to them. To US...they are "scrappers" and "trash"...to these kids...EARNING a Mickey Mouse, or Goofy Pin that is theirs to call their own would be priceless.

If knowledgeable pin collectors deserve to receive genuine Disney pins, then so do unknowledgeable kids. JMO.

I think you are overlooking the general idea here. I am not saying that these kids don't deserve genuine pins...but since these scrappers are in existence it would nice to give them to someone who would appreciate having them since "true collectors" don't see them that way. And that's JMO.

I think this is a great idea. Most kids don't care if they get a scrapper or not. When my little sis was trading at the parks, she didn't care if a pin was a fake. As long as she thought it was nice, she wanted it. Ignorance is bliss with kids. And about perpetuating the problem... they are in existence already, and the whole scrapper problem isn't going to be any better or worse by giving them to inner city kids. This is being taken way too seriously. Now if they were planning to take the scrappers with them on a field trip to Disney, then that would be a problem. But the OP just wants to give them the pins as a reward- just like a sticker, a stamp, or a candy.

Just my two cents! I wish I had some scrappers to donate OP, but we threw those out long ago. Best of luck though!
