This is the next series I decided to discuss. Since the first in this discussion group was a DLR/DCA exclusive, I figure it is best to cover a series that is WDW exclusive as well. It's only fair right???

This series is part of the lead up to the September Pin event taking place at WDW in 2013. One pin per month is being released. These pins are LE 750, and feature a different villain each month. They are all shaped like the mirror from snow White. The mirror is cracked, and has a silhouette of the villain in the cracked glass. The 13 is a pin on pin element.

images below are linked. A quick description and tidbits of info included.
  1. The first in this countdown series was released at the Mickey circus pin event in September 2012. Featuring Cruella DeVil, they rolled this series out as a surprise release. This perticular pin is more highly sought after. Being the first of the series and unexpected, many who want to collect the whole set have yet to obtain her.
  2. Next in the series is Hades, released in October. While not the most highly sought after from the series, It is a lovely pin featuring the villain from Hercules. Thus making it appealing to villain and Hercules collectors alike.
  3. Queen of Hearts was the choice for November. The 13 is a beautiful, vivid red color which makes this pin stand out. Don't let this ladies trade/want ratio's fool you. she trades very well.
  4. Chernabog was the featured villain for the December release. Everyone loves Chernabog. He is one of the most interesting villains out there right? I felt this was a very nice pin, the 13 didnt block out the villains features as much as a few of the others.
  5. Jafar rang in the 2013 year as January's villain. Also not as highly sought after, I think it is because Jafars face is so hidden by the 13. His twisted beard is very obvious though, which many aladdin collectors love. The red 13 is a brighter color than the queen of hearts, and stands out nicely against the dark background of the pin.
  6. February's villain was Ursula. A fantastic purple color was used on the 13 for this pin and so far, it is my favorite of the bunch. Her White hair stands out nicely as well on the mirror, making her a more visible villain for the series.
  7. March was Maleficent. With the 13 in a glittering evil green that matches the color of her flames when she is in dragon form. This is a great pin. Also one of the most sought after in the series. It is a great trader and wonderful addition to any collection.
  8. April brought us Captain Hook. While the 13 is in a great BOLD red, the silhouette of Hook was so large it seemed to loose detail. I have only seen it once, so I do not have tremendous detailed visual reference. If anyone has more info on the quality or appearance of this one i would love input.
  9. Gaston was the pick for May. I feel they did a fantastic job on him. the whites of his eyes and teeth make him stand out strongly on the dark background, and the red 13 matches the color of his clothes in the movie.
  10. Dr Facilier was the man of the month for June. The green is a wonderful glittery match for the movie. And his skull and cross bones hat is perfectly centered.
  11. Scar released july 11th. The pinpics image indicates his eyes and teeth are kind of evil sickly yellow. which i find to be awesome! I cant wait to see this one in person!
  12. Oogie boogie is scheduled to release on August 16th. I really like the LIME green for the 13. it just fits.
  13. The evil Queen from snow White... September will be the event. There are aaaaaalll sorts of pins for this event. I do not recall if the evil queen will be available without the frame. but I felt we could put this here with the series anyway.

So, what do you think of this series? I am sure all the villain lovers out there are enjoying it.

Thoughts, opinions, idea's, "wish they had done this..." etc... are appreciated.

According to the Merchandise catalog the only one you don't have listed is Oogie Boogie and he will have a green 13 as well. Looks like he is August!

I'm not a huge fan of villains(sorry to anyone who likes them!), but I think this series looks really cool . I like how the pin looks cracked and I also like how it just shows the villains' silhouette(I think it makes it look more ominous, if that's the right word for it).

I'm going to be there for the August release, and it's just my luck that it's the one pin from this set that I don't want/like at all :facepalm:. I have Gaston and absolutely love the design and look of his pin, and I'm also hoping to get my hands on Maleficent, Evil Queen and Hook.

I love the series; I think the pins are gorgeous! And I like how the figures are just sort of hinted at, silhouetted as they are.

I haven't made up my mind yet whether to try to collect them all because they're 13's (most of them are characters/movies I don't collect) or just my couple of faves.

I do wish Diablo had been in there with Maleficent, but I can see that there isn't really much room in the frame...
 
I collect villains and I love this series. WDW gets all the best villains pins and I can never get my hands on any of them so I just sit over here in California and weep while I look at all the pretty villains pins I'll never own.
 
I think it's weird that nobody really wants Jafar, but I just can't seem to get my hands on him haha!

I really like this series, though! WDW always has great villain pins!
 
SCAR!!!!

Scar is my favourite villain, so I am super excited about this. When I think of Scar I usually think of green because of the Be Prepared scene, but I like the red too and I really like the glowy details.

I might actually be getting this pin, so I am super excited about that.
 
I like this set but wish they wouldve done more colors-

I will be there Sept. 19- 28th (have to recheck departing date) I wonder if they will have any special Halloween theme or villain pins then? We are going to the Halloween Party one night.

They have pins specific to the party. Also some halloween rack pins.

Ahh yesss that other feline villain ner do well, Shere KHan,,, but I digress....

To the pin in question Number10 as it were in the wheel of evil that encompasses the shattered mirror<ohh that rolled out nicely dont think?>The detail on this pin seems to be a touch more line orinented as some of the others,,, Perhaps the finer detail of Scars fur or the fractures, currrent renditions of course do no justice to the actaul pins, If you have seen any of the series<and BELIEVE ME, I have,,> you know this is probably one of the most well done artistically and quality series of villains since the 08 disneyshopping Le 500 set<which I stil need a few of>
Each successive pin in this series has shown more depth in its artistry, more sinsiterness in its forboding imagery..
Whhy its enuff to make a villain shiver with.........

As the series winds down you can rest assured that the more popular characters, and lets face it his fuzzliness of July is one of the tops, as his numbers of trades to wants will bear out the closer we get to JUly 11th.. If you check now , Mali, Gaston, and of course early outa the gate Cruella are the hottest of the traders now, while none of the set trades badly at all , those three are the hot tickets,I am wagering that come Sept in Otown, those will get you quite a bit at the traders tables , remember, these are Fl exclusives<something thats as rare as a white christmas around here> so the market locally is hot for them,Now if you add in over 1000 folks mostly from all over the world who werent here for the release of thier favorite<whichever that may be> what will they give up to get one?
And one last thought, with only 750 to sell, and remember 2 each so that is only the first 375 to get it, What day do you think they will release the Last one of the series, umm maybe on FRi the first day of the event when the crowd is limited,,, Just a thought but if you were thinkin of finishing the set and only gettin in on Sat, you may want to get reaady to trade.....

ooojjjjhhh I love the smell of goody goods slathering for villain pins......

ummm.... I of course will be in line for this one, Say I think i have some outa towners stopping by that week, I wonder if I buy them some bagels and lox if i can convince them to come stand in line.....

muhhahahaha,,,, Villains everywhere its a veritable evil love in.............
