Maybe you should tone it down a little and quit being so butt hurt. I see no reason why they cannot ask that question. IF you have a issue with it just don't read it.

 I was trying to be more diplomatic, but this sums it up pretty well.

I don't think I will ever get my hands on a pin that would be a no brainer to auction, so I would check to see if their was any interest in it so that I don't auction a pin that would only get one bid (which has happened), maybe we need to chlil a little bit? its not like you go on the discussions thread and all these should I auction? threads slap you in face. in fact, the biggest build up I have seen is the should we ban / move these threads? at this rate we will have a billion sub forums just so no one posts something in a place that bothers someone else. Maybe if they become a problem they might require moving, but i've only ever seen the occasional post, its deffinately not on the scale of the games threads on the sales forum which required moving. If it bothers you so badly, don't read them not everything is everyones cup of tea

I don't quite get what the big deal is. I don't care, at all. Even if people are just doing it for self promotion, so what? You don't have to read it. As far as stopping these threads to avoid server crashes, I think that takes us down a dangerous road. What I love about this forum, is the freedom of speech. By stifling that, we are going to ruin the culture of the forum. *Just my two cents*

I rarely ever do this, today I did, because it was about a pin I am not familiar with. I am really tired of every where I go people want to regulate things (not you Mark, just in general). I agree with docfish2u that we need to go back to personal responsibility.
my goodness, we are having government regulating the size of the soda we buy? When we could cheaper and easier buy a 2 litter instead? I heard some people discussing yesterday that they should ban sodas because it costs too much to deal with illnesses from overweight people. I don't understand this mentality, and its usually those same people who don't agree to make it a requirement to get drug tested in order to receive government aid.

What has happened to paying the consequences of our individual actions?

It saddens me that our society is always trying to accommodate people to make it "fair"

I don't think this should be an issue, are we then going to create a sub-forum for everything?

Like others have suggested, I don't think this happens often enough that it should warrant a separate forum or should bother anyone.

Basically, we would be regulating how we word things? I could have just as easily said, looking to trade this pin or possibly auction it, is there anyone interested in it?

I don't like the idea of first asking to trade and then putting it up for auction.

just my $.02

The person who posted that happens to be a BRAND new trader whom I just recently invited to join our group. She is new to trading online, and is looking for suggestion. What is wrong with someone wanting to know if maybe they will HAVE to trade their designer princess for a hidden Mickey if theres no interest?

Sometimes we are very unwelcoming to others, and we need to be careful, comments like these could make others not want to be part of this group, especially newcomers.

I completely agree with this. If you can't tell already I am brand new to this forum. I don't know anyone, I have no signature and I have less than 30 posts. I was considering posting a "should i auction" thread because i have an oz marquee and the jumbo wreck it ralph and i think it would be fun to do an auction. But after seeing the comment about the Designer Cinderella, I felt extremely discouraged. I'm already intimidated enough and I would hope that people could be a little more kind.

So why do you automatically assume his comment is about you? He specifically said that this question is NOT based on a specific person or post...

I never said the thread was about me. I was just saying that the comment didn't seem very friendly. Yours doesn't either, thanks for being so welcoming.

Hi, first off, welcome to DPF!!! Please don't be intimidated! Every once and a while there seems to be drama of one form or another. I have found usually things go rather smoothly. Sometimes like in life, people get upset about something and want to discuss it. Usually it is pretty civil, but every once and a while people have disagreements that can get a little heated.

I hope you give us a chance and stick around and see what good is done here. It is not just people questioning the way things are done here. For me 99% of the time it is a lot of fun here and there are some great people here, even ones that we sometimes disagree with. This is the most generous place I have ever seen and been part of.

Hang in here and the more you get involved, the more you will get back, usually good.

This, 1,000%

While I never read them, I find them annoying and cluttering up the Discussion Forum.

Oh goodness. This thread has gotten a little heated. >.< perhaps we should take it down just a bit? >.< I don't think the original post meant to spur this up.

But I think it is important to keep an eye on how we say/type things. Sometimes we don't out our best foot forward. And it's always hard to recover from a bad first impression. While I know drama is eventually inevitable, I think if we remember that this is, indeed, a hobby forum. Lets just keep things in perspective. ^^;

HUGS TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it's bad that people ask, but I think there should be a sticky for people to post on ONE thread. That way it doesn't clutter the boards too much.

Preach it! That is such a good idea!!! Honestly, I don't mind the threads, I do really believe that some of the pins in question should be questioned because the auctioneer might not know if they'll be popular enough. HOWEVER, when I see threads about pins that OBVIOUSLY will get a ton of bids and yet they still ask "Is there any interest in R/C Rapunzel" I'm just like...

I mean...really? Did you just ask if anyone on the forums want the R/C Rapunzel -__- (I'm using R/C Rapunzel as an example but the point is you can easily tell which pins are extremely popular and need no question as to whether or not they'll be popular).

Stop picking at eachother. someone did make a pointed comment about a specific thread and people reacted. Un-FORTUNately, exactly like they wanted.

Ice cream.

I think this one calls for some extra yum. It has a brownie!!!

Someone said something that caught my attention, that i Completly agree with. The freedom of this forum is great. If we dis-allow threads asking a simple question about trade value for an auction... what would we say "clutters" the forum next????

Agrees x1000
