Thank You for the Amazing donations!!!
+2000. I don't have any grail pins or any good enough to send as option 2 or 3. I'm not making much money but I am still willing to donate directly to the site.

Add me to the option 4 group as well. I am all for raising funds to support sites like this as I do that for another site I belong too, and the game is an interesting idea, but I have not had a lot of luck in the couple I have participated in, so IMO, I would prefer just to donate monies. I would have also paid for "gold member" had that been offered.

Plus, I never even saw the thread about how much are you on site, or the poll

yup add me to the cash pay list, no problem sendin dead pressies to site, its a worthwhile cause agreed, also agree that hearing both Brian and Jons opinion is a great idea,

While the idea is a good one to aid the site, I think the implimentation is less than ideal. I know some folks will not be able to afford to play the games or bid on the pins, but like all of us, with a little warning a budget could be allotted to pay for a membership.

PP ran for years on members donations, and while not perfect, it did work and help,

Besides if you poke me in the butt,Im gonna slap your face for not buying me dinner first,,, just sayin!!

As many of stated: There are people who don't have anything good for the games or auctions. What I think are "grails" in my collection I get turned down. I have tried doing the auctions but there is always someone who comes after me that has something better to bid. So I have given up trying to play those auctions and games. So don't assume people don't want to help. Also there are newbies on here so they really aren't going to have much pin wise unless they really hit the pin jackpot.

And since we refer ourselves as "DPF family", I can't help wondering where the family elders stand on this. If Cicada and Bricklayer already posted their input somewhere and if I missed it, I apologize.

Curious about this too! On other sites I am on, the people who run it will let us know when it's time to contribute for annual maintenance etc. People chip in what they can, and it seems to work well.

I'm not a fan of the membership either, I don't think I would be able to pay money every month or so, it takes me a while to even scrounge up money for pins

Would probably also be interested in donating directly to Bricklayer or Cicada. Have you thought about setting up a company with a separate Tax ID that you can then use to register with PayPal to get donations with?

I agree that we have not heard from Cicada or Bricklayer on this matter. Whether they are in agreement to this idea to raise money in this way. I remember being a member of diz pins forum. When the forum closed, I remember the administrator said she was going to let the younger generation of collectors take over and wished us luck. Henceforth, The Disney Pin forum! If you are going to run a website, you need to have the means to upgrade and maintain the website. It's obvious that from the internal error's that we have all been receiving that there are problems maintaining this forum.
Thus, comes this idea to help raise money. I agree in helping out.
Most members that have posted, have posted interest in donating money. The answer is setting up an account. May I ask, what difference does it make if we are buying pins that are donated or we are donating money? The money must be paid either way. Whose account would the money for pins go into? You understand what I am getting at?
I would also be interested in Cicada's idea to pay to be a Gold Member.

Actually, if we sent money and no pins, we would save the postage money that could be given to the forum instead of USPS.
I don't know, I love this place and my pin is on its way, I have had a few setbacks but I finally got it packaged and ready to go in tomorrow's mail.
I will help out in whatever way I can. This place is therapy, lol!

this is a valid point...there was a time not too lng ago i had crap for traders or extra pins but i would have loved to donate!! let the mula roll

I'm not a fan of the membership either, I don't think I would be able to pay money every month or so, it takes me a while to even scrounge up money for pins

I do not think anyone was talking a monthly fee from what I read in previous posts. More like a once a year donation.

Today i opened my pin bag and realized I am out of "grail" type traders The ones I have in the house have all been spoken for, and need to be mailed out, I just hope everyone likes the pin I offered, I think I should have just waited for the donate money option, or becoming a gold member, I would pay for a membership to not loose all the friends I have made here, and a very enjoyable place for me to be, I have 2 pins on the way, I could donate but by the time they get here it will be too late.

Let me make this clear in this post, since some did NOT see the "gold membership" discussion... the "gold membership" would be a yearly fee where if you pay you get certain perks than regular members.... like... more inbox space, a members only forum, etc.*

You can still access most of the forum if you opt out of being a gold member, so you do not have to pay to get on site. I know a lot of us can hardly afford to buy pins, or monthly bills, or are to young. It's okay! We all understand.

*Could change if the gold membership does happen.

Anyone who is willing to make a direct donation should be able to participate in the fundraiser by playing the game - just purchase as many spots as you can with the money you would have been willing/able to donate.

I would be happy to donate some of my traders, but given that no one wants to trade for them, I don't think they would be much in the way of a consolation prize. I will be happy to contribute through option 4 and really hope you get all the funds you need.

Same boat- my pin I sent in was surely not a 'grail' pin and I'm a bit embarrassed if that was all option 1 was suppose to be. I contributed one of my decent traders just to do what I could as I know I'm likely going to be out of town during the actual game portion of the game and won't be able to spare the funds. Love DPF and forums like this so hopefully one way or another my contribution helps =>

I think what we all need to remember here, is that Moe put together a way for us all to contribute to improving DPF. He has an exceptional idea, and so what if the way it is being worked out is not perfect. This is a huge undertaking and he and his helpers are doing great!

I do not think option 1 was supposed to be a "grail" pin, but a very nice higher end pin. ((Didnt have one of those, couldnt contribute)) With the addition of option 2 for the consolation prizes, i can now contribute in a way that make me feel like i am helping. Folks will be buying spots out the waazoo for the main prize game. And while my measley 2 pins for contributions are not awesome, they are decent little traders. The 4th option, which i think is great and should be available year round will be great for those who use this forum for socializing and collecting rather than for trading.

Keep on truckin' Moe!

Moe is doing a great job putting this together. And while I agree, we have not heard from the Admin's, something tells me they are at least a little bit involved, and are all for the idea. I just hope they decide to put the Gold membership into effect too, because a once a year fee to be a gold member would be totally fine by me if it meant fewer database errors.

+1000!!

I think people are forgetting that the intent is to have several ways to help out ... for instance, I'm cash poor but I have pins and I'm happy to donate some to the cause! Moe has taken on a HUGE task (along with his helpers), to come up with creative, innovative and fun ways to raise cash for the DPF maintenance!! And now that DPF is MUCH BIGGER than anyone could even dream of :eek2:, it's NOT reasonable to expect the owners of the DPF site to foot the bill for ALL of OUR enjoyment and activities!!

A great deal of thought has gone into the creation and expansion of this site ... there has not, so far, been any limitations to how many people can join or post, etc. :banghead: Now that DPF has grown and grown, better and bigger technical support is needed ... this costs money!! So those who want to contribute cash, you now have a method; those that want to donate pins whether they are "grail status" or more easily obtainable, you have a method. Those that enjoy and want to participate in games, auctions, etc. ... stay tuned!

One last thought ... no matter what type of pins you have, NO ONE IS SAYING that your pins are not as good as someone else's pins!! Grail status is ALL in the eyes of the beholder! There are many pins that have popular "grail" status that are not low LE pins ... for example the Hitchhiking Ghosts pin #7882 ... this is an LE 3000 pin BUT the wants vs. trade status is: 382 vs. 55!!! That qualifies as a grail pin in my book! :eek2:

I'm very thankful for DPF and the founders and for the fantastic friends I've met on this sight :bowdown: ... I was a long time member of Dizpins and PinPics!! And when Dizpins closed I was sad and wondered ... now what?? When DPF contacted me to join, I actually waited awhile before joining ... not sure where to turn at that point. I joined in November 2010!! And even then I was basically a lurker and only posted on rare occasions. Now that I'm retired, I find even more enjoyment posting and being more active on DPF!! :hsd: And I'm very happy to contribute and help however I can to keep DPF alive and well!! Keep the faith and an open mind! Big hugs to you all!! *bjr

As a newbie with a very small collection, I don't really have anything to donate that seems worth the entry fee. But, I'm definitely willing to put in for the game! To me, every pin is a grail! And thanks again, Moe, for taking this on! You are appreciated!

I also still really like the idea of a paying membership.

I'm not a fan of that because not everyone can afford that.

DPF won't ever be a strictly "paid" site -- the idea of the fabled "DPF Gold" would merely be a sort of "premium" option for those who would want it, and would come with some extra features like a bigger PM box, custom titles/username colors/etc... We havent hashed out any details as we're not quite sure if this is the best course of action yet, but it's definitely something high on the list of possibilities.
