There is a LOT more going on here that u may not be aware of. And besides a lot of new people are very popular members here...2infinity, mickeymouseJ, Clara, goofymoe, cat burger to name just a few...it's not about being new, it's how you conduct business from what i can see. And most of the bickering is going on BETWEEN new people. Vets dont seem to get involved much...hmmmm probably bc they are here to...pin trade. Crazy thought. Ha! They're turning on their own kind 🙂
 
Oh man, I am sorry life has tossed you so many rough blows. At least you had those wonderful horses to keep you company. I know they were wonderful shoulders for me to cry on when I had issues growing up. Do you still have any? Did you mention a horse named Raphael once? I don't remember.

I'm sure there is, but it is true that the pin trading community can be cliquish and people can get downright nasty. And as we all know there are 3 sides to every story.
 
I fourth that from Lamorak there is no need for nastyness here. We are all here for one thing to pin trade and have fun
as for Izze please stay NOt all of us are mean and nasty. Just tired of all the nonsense would make reading the blogs better!

Hi Izze,

I apologize in advance if this offends you in any way, as that is not my intention. I just wanted to write things from my (outside) perspective. I do not personally know anyone here and have no agenda, but simply wanted to say how I felt, as I'm sure others may be thinking the same things and therefore responding to you negatively.

From the very first page of Becca's Brave auction, I *personally* got the vibe that something was "fishy". It seemed like you and Becca knew each other, and you were bidding very rare and valuable pins to "up the bids" placed by others. And towards the end of the auction you weren't even in the top two (even though your bids were, by most traders perspectives, the best) which made it even more suspect. Not to mention you were a new member, and most of your posts were on Becca's auction thread.

If you are in fact dating Becca's co-worker, that in my mind says you guys know each other fairly well...I know you said you guys weren't really friends, but it means you know her better than most people on here know each other, and when you are bidding valuable pins on her auction, it (to me) raises a red flag. I also find it interesting that both you and Becca were both able to obtain these rare, hard-to-get Brave pins, yet you aren't even friends...is that just a coincidence or did you get them from the same source?

You also wrote that you gave your last Brave pin to a foster child, and if you did that is a very nice, generous, and commendable thing to do...but you also wrote on Becca's auction, "I could use another one of these, I heard the value is about to skyrocket even more!". That seems very contradictory to me...but once again...just my perspective.

And if you did in fact offer the Brave pins to a member (or members) here for $650, and/or tell people that you and Becca are "business partners", it may be hard to get people to change their mind about you, as that is a really high, I-am-trying-to-make-a-large-profit kind of number. Why would you go from giving a foster child a rare and valuable pin, to trying to sell one for a crazy amount of money? It just doesn't add up to me.

Once again, I am not trying to attack you in any way, and if I am wrong about you I will be the first one to apologize...but I just keep getting the "fishy" vibe from all of this (as much as one can get a vibe from internet posts...LOL), and wanted to convey that.

And a really great way to get everyone to shut up would be to post actual pictures of all of your awesome Swarvoski pins...I know it is hurtful to have to resort to "proving yourself", but because there are so many inconsistencies and rumors floating about...it may be the easiest way. Not to mention I'm sure many people would love to see actual pictures of these beautiful pins. 🙂

This is a sad thread and a good example of how we should not conduct ourselves. Lamorak summarized everything very well.

Let me extend you a belated WELCOME 🙂

Also, let me clear a mis-perception about this forum:

Many of us asscoiate Disney with happy, cheerful times and pin trading is a way to hold on to those happy times & memories a bit longer and develop new friendships. At least, this was my expectation. The truth, sadly, is not so. We have people from all walks of life, from many different backgrounds (and thanks God for that) with various strength in our purses.

There are happy people here, friendlies and not so friendlies, business people and sharks. Many of us voice their opinion against scammers & sharks and yet many other quietly "tsk tsk" and gossip in PMs.

There are cliques, yes. But those cliques have nothing to do with your traders, it has more to do with how you treat people and how you trade, or that is how I perceive it. We all value our pins differently, but there are still some common sense guidelines. If someone is consistently making me lop sided & pushy offers, there is no way I would place that person in my "friends" basket 😉 That is one of the reasons I slowed down on my trading in the last 6 months.

It has also plenty to do with your location. If you are near the parks and attend the events, you will naturally be able to have more face-to-face contact. If you give it a chance, in good time you might even have your own clique 😉

I clicked on your links, naturally I was curious after reading your post. It seems to me that you jumped the gun a bit. Maybe, it would make a better beginning for you if you were to sort out your collection, list your pins on Pinpics and then start trading and bidding. I also think that it could not hurt to poke around here and on Ebay so you would get an idea about the fair value for your pins, it seems to me that you were giving away too many way too easily - which probably why others suspected you.

As a new member here, you surely deserve some slack, but also keep in mind that respect & trust should be earned.

Amen to that! I have been around since 1999. Luckily or unluckily we are far away from the parks to be involved in all this drama. With that being said, there are wonderful people on the boards who are very active, as well as oldies who like to lurk in the shadows (me).

I agree with Selen, trust and respect, especially when dealing in so many cases with strangers over the internet, must be earned.

I too would love to see you trade those crystal pins for the Brave logo as you said you wanted to, or at the very least see some pictures of what I am sure must be a beautiful collection that you own.

I find it all disgusting. Are we children? are we lower class human beings that willfully hurt others on a forum that is meant for friendship and fun in the true spirit of Walt Disney?
I am ashamed for everyone who would act in this manner.
I dont care wo did what, who is lying, who is scamming, or who is right. There is no right in this issue and noone will even know. It is how you act and handle yourself that shows everyone who you are.
For Izze to even have to post ANY explaination or to have to defent herself against others is sickening. I could care less if the story is true or not. The problem is that she felt the need to post it in the first place. That is sad and makes me think it may have been to early to return to trading.
6 years i stepped away due to nasty replies, greedy people and negativity. I left all those people i really liked due to a few bad experiences. I just came onto these boards a few weeks ago and i have some damn nice pins. Noone called me a scammer or questioned my collection.
Why cant this forum just be good? good people, good friends, and good pins 🙂
So many people have posted about bad stuff lately and crying in the chat rooms. this is not the way i want to be looked upon. It is rediculous that people are posting trying to force a trade. The trade is between 2 people, not a public affair so stop posting it on the open forum like a freak show. Noone has to prove their integrity to anyone but the other trader. These posts above are like a witch hunt. Ok angry so im stopping:

The other night there was such a great moment when everyone joined chat and worked out a plan to do wonderful things for other members. everyone chipped in and it was just what i needed to see to let me know that the pin forum was still alive.

I hope everyone understands my points and Izze, I will trade with you any time, ill even ship first!

I am absolutely certain that there are so many more layers of stuff going on, of which I am completely unaware, that it's not funny 🙂

Now what is sort of ironic is that, of the five new people you named, four of them have either been called out or felt the need to post about their perceived mistreatment here. Which is actually part of the pattern of which I previously mentioned. Do I think that they were only disgruntled with other new people or do I believe there was possibly an even mix of discontent with both new and old? My belief is that there was likely a mix, between all these instances, and that no one group can claim complete innocence.

Perhaps my previous post put a bad light upon cliques, as the word itself seems to have negative connotations. Cliques or any sort of groupings are naturally occurring and will always be part of the human social dynamic. What tends to disturb me personally is that some people will read a calling out post and immediately make a one side judgement call, which is fine as one would be expected to defend friends. The part with which I don't particularly agree is where those defenders feel the need to label the outed with names like, jerk, douche, shark, and so on, without knowing the whole story. Is it really necessary to publicly slam people like this with only one side of the story? I'm all for sticking up for friends and offering support, but I personally will not resort to name calling.

On the point of it being all on how you conduct business, I would tend to agree. I have observed both new and veteran conduct themselves in less than an appropriate manner. Is it really necessary to post private message conversations to a public forum, to express outrage and shock over a private business transaction that didn't turn out to have a favorable outcome? My opinion is that some people, both old and new, may feel some sense of entitlement in some way and when things don't go their way, they resort to playing the victim as some sort of petty revenge tactic. That may not be the case, but that is how most of this seems to come across.

For those that are able to conduct themselves in a consistent and professional manner, they are the ones that seem to have the least amount of trouble. For those that seem to allow greed or personal entitlement cloud their judgement, I'm certain that these sorts of threads will, sadly, continue to be the norm.

These thoughts are all my personal opinion and observation and may not match with yours or anyone else's. I believe that if I conduct myself with professionalism and tact, that I will never have to defend myself or feel as if everyone is railing against me, as all my business transactions are conducted with polite, mutual, respect for my fellow traders. I can only hope that others will try and do the same, to the best of their abilities.

Izzy you need to find out what your pins are realy worth before you stat listing them as traders. There is not a Tangled or Brave pin worth any of the Swarovski pins.

She knows🙂. she was taking offers for them in the $100s. (disclaimer someone told me who PMd an inquiry). unsure if any sold for her. That's why a bid of 4 was like...uhhhh? Odd...

The bottom line here for anyone that had personal contact with either becca or izze received a lot of different versions of facts, stories etc that just didn't mesh at all. People don't like to feel like they are being taken advantage of and get frustrated when it seems that our "pin world" that is based 98% on trust is being compromised further. Probably why people lash out. I chose to post my thoughts on PM auctions to you in a PM. And that was that...I knew you didn't want to trade only to sell at prices higher than i can afford and so be it. everyone can choose who the deal with and who they don't. Nothing more really needs to be said about it. Que sera sera...

i might know you but im very sorry to hear about this and i would like to say nobody should ever judge anyone specially if you dont really know the person and ive seen like 3 other senerios like this and i have had one too but izze im very sorry dont let it get to you i sent you a friend request and hopefully we can find something to trade for with eachother keep your spirits up and always know your parent are your guardian angels they will always be with you no matter what okay

Sorry to bump this up again but i had to say this...when the auction thread started I was in awe of what Izze had on her bid so naturally i checked her pinpics to see what other awesome pins she had, one of the pins she owned was the brave logo, I dismissed it... Then after every bid she made she kept adding these awesome pins to her trades, then after a while she erased everything, then changed it again... Thats when I became suspicious... Then this picture came up! Woah... I could be wrong and that story is really sad, but I reserve a right to be cautious...
