So I was watching a pin I want on ebay and I had a horrible headache last night so I went right to bed early and forgot to bid. This morning I saw the "Don't forget to bid" email that I would have seen if I had checked my email last night and sure enough, I missed it and it went for like HALF of what I would have been willing to pay. At least someone got it at a good price.

Aww, that's no fun. It's happened to me so many times, I know how it feels. Not nice. Do you mind sharing which pin it was? Maybe one of us has it for trade or for sale...Good luck!

I was going to buy a Disneyland rose with Tink this weekend. I had bid $26. The auction ended on Sunday afternoon and I needed a nap all of a sudden on Sunday afternoon. I slept through the end of the auction and it went for $26.50...I almost cried. I would have gotten this pin:

I got myself this pin as a consolation prize:

Ack! It's a horrible feeling when you miss out on a pin either due to time or just by a few cents. I hope your head is feeling better. Headaches are evil.

Nightmare! I did it recently with a rare Pinocchio pin, Ive only ever seen it twice, and meant to have it this time, but totally forgot about the auction because I was knocking down my kitchen wall! When I realised I was actually too exausted to care!

This just happened to me. I lost the auction of the Snow White with the animals jumbo in my signature by 50 cents. I was really POed. Good luck getting your pin!

Just remember, just because you lose it by 50 cents doesn't mean that just 50 cents more would have gotten it. I have won plenty of auctions by that margin, but my proxy bid was still much higher.

Very true. OP, remember that just because the winner got it for half the price you would have paid, the bidder may have still placed a significantly higher maximum bid.

Very true, Tealke....but it's still the "what if?" factor.

I usually try to avoid that. It's why I always put my bid in at the very end with the max I am willing to pay. That way the "what if?" factor doesn't get me to bid another dollar just in case, then just another dollar, then just another...

Im curious what pin were you after? That happens to me a lot, I hate it when that happens.

Lately I think I have observed a trend of auctions where two people put up crazy high snipes just to make sure they won a pin but then two put the snipe high on the same pin so the pin ends up going for a crazy high sum. I mean, don't put a snipe if you arent' willing to pay it, but I think this is happening more and more now. It amazes me with a pin is going for $25 with a day left, there is one BIN for $35 and then it sells at auction for $40+. Why not just buy the BIN one? Do they not know how to search very well?

It really bugs me when people try to set a value of a pin super low because of a recent BIN price. But the BIN was snatched up almost right away and was obviously underpriced. It also bugs me when people think the highest auction is the new value. if there are 10 sold and 9 were $25 and 1 was $40 I don't think it's a $40 pin. it's probably now a $30 pin. Someone just overpaid and was impatient.

Alas, I would have liked that think Jumbo also but just watched it end.

My thoughts exactly. I always kill myself when i lose a bid by $1. but then im thinking..if i bid an extra $2, whos to say i wouldnt have been out bid still. So it works out non the less

I use the snipe app and I put in exactly how much I am willing to pay and not a penny more, it seems to be working for me, I don't forget to bid and if im outbid I don't think about well what if I added a couple more bucks then I don't get out of control and drop a ton of dough because I can do that when I sit there and get out bid and outbid again and again, it racks up lol, it helps me to control myself, hehe.

hey catburger! I see your posts and keep forgetting to tell you I love your pic! a cat in a burger suit! I love it! is that your cat! it makes me smile everytime I see it.

Thanks, YoSoyAhPuch. I am feeling much better today. Headaches ARE evil!

The pin I wanted was pin Pin 90199: WDW - Disney's Art of Animation Resort Logo Pin - Crush and Dory, which I don't think is rare or anything but I have been trying to get it at a good price for a while. There are a couple on ebay for low prices but they come from a seller that has some negative feedback for allegedly selling counterfeit pins and they mention that the pin "can be traded" in the description.

I will have to check out the Snipe thing. That sounds cool.
