I went to get some of the muppet playing-card pins last night, and they had the upcoming stocking release on display too. One of the few times where the picture-art they post looks better than the real thing. The colors are dull, and except for the stitch, the facial features look awful. I know people usually make it in droves when Jessica Rabbit is involved, so I was hoping to save someone the drive. Oh, and they are really small too.

Aw, they are kinda lacking. Are those the only stockings they've made? I'm not a fan of Jessica and that Chip and Dale pin looks really wonky with those faces. I'd be a lot more interested if there had been a Donald/Daisy pin. I love the holiday pins but these are a few I'll pass on.

Granted, I have not seen them in person, but they look fine to me. I can think of a ton of pins that are much worse looking and even more off model.

What I don't get, is that they made the characters themselves pin-on-pin.

It's fine for the Chip and Dale pin, because they are supposed to be hanging over the edge of the stocking. But the Stitch and Jessica ones don't make sense to my eyes. They are supposed to be inside the stocking, but they are floating outside. KWIM?

There have been worse, but if I would not have seen these, I would have wasted my time and money to get them. I can get over pins that don't look great, or pins that are smaller, but not the 2 combined. I don't think the picture shows just how tiny they are

The Chip & Dale pin doesn't look too bad (anybody want to help me get one?), but as PixarPerils said, it's the only on where the pin on pin element makes sense.

Maybe they can detach from their stocking? I think i am still going to pick them up though. I <3 Stitch!

Jessica Stocking

Here is an example of what annoys me about pin designs in the last few years.

You can see the artwork of Jessica was lifted right from the movie. Her dress was changed to match the occasion of course - but this is such a far cry from when we used to see brand new artwork for pins. Though it's a cute pin, it does not stand up to the artwork from a few years ago.
P.S. Jessica's hips are pretty big here because in this scene from the movie there was a real woman used in a split-screen technique to grab Marvin Acme's cheeks. Her proportions are a little off so that the animation covered up any of the real woman or the split screen lines.

I thought the same thing about Dale! The eyes are critical - I've passed on some Tink lately that just don't look right. Not sure if they've hired new artists or what, but the characters are looking a shad wonky to me.
