Wdw dpf ptn group?

How do you feel about a DPF group at PTN for WDW?

Wdw dpf ptn group?
If this works out, we should extend the invitation to the folks on the Pincast Listeners Facebook page. Although for our first time out, we probably don't want to get that ambitious.
 
Lucan444 you have a great plan & I myself have 2 books & my wife has (her own trades) maybe 5 books so yes together we have 7 but we work out our trades in our own books hers is her own & mine is my own, so are you saying because we are a couple 7 may be to much or are you suggesting if someone has 10 books as in "per person" they might want to find a differant table?
 
I might not even want to put my book out since I only have about 40 traders and they're pretty lame.

Actually, for these events, I found that it was a lot easier as someone browsing to look at pins that were on boards. I could see them all quickly and move on. Maybe I'll just bring something like that.
 
No grumpy , what I am saying is IF attendance by DPF members warrants it, each member may be limited in display space, that does not mean you can not bring them all, just either keep them below table and bring them up for traders to review,or roatate them out. The idea being that we cannot secure space for everyones complete collection of traders becuause we may not know exactly how much each person is bringing. However if we are all willing to cooperate and make room for all of our members whom want to display some of thier pins,each of us will have a better time.
Imagine you arrive after 6 pm cuz you work in otown and traffic is not nice on Fri eves. You arrive and we have secured a large space, wouldnt you want someone to pull back a book or two so that you can put yours out, or would you see someone with 7 books spread out and no room for you and wonder why you tried?
All I am trying to point out is this kind of coop effort requires that everyone be able to give and take,
I personally have three books,A<B<C. I might take my A book for a strole and leave Band C on the table, but if you and your wife arrive, Why would I need to keep all three out, I can put any of them away and bring them out if needed for a trade.
The concept is a communtity that is working to help each other, imagine I have a trader walk up and ask for Eeyore, I dont have any but you do<theoretically> I can ask the group "hey anyone got an eeyore?" an send them to you!
Its a two way street, now this isnt in stone if you have a better concept I will be the first to say hey speak up, but a limit per person if attendance is supposed to be great seems to be the "fairest" way to make sure everyone has a chance to trade.
Does that make sense?

Just an update

we are still waiting to hear from Jessta and crew about the DPF name. If we are unable to use the DPF logo, we will try another symbol. Any ideas what to use?
Areasol can with circle and an a line thru it< to symbolize no shark repellent needed>
Lanyard design posterboard< show giant lanyard with pins on it>
Just mickey pinbacks on a board?

Cant wait to hear your suggestions. Please post them!! I would rather we could use the DPF logo for continuity and ease of our fellow members to spot . However if we cannot do that, what would you suggest we use?

USE your avatar on your siggy,and PUT DPF Member through it..OR the BC that DPF gave out,blow it UP and use it

I love Judy's idea, the avatar with the name under it would look cool!

I have been trading since the beginning 1999/2000 and we all get together and look out for each other whenever everyone is in town.

I think the idea is valid and could work. I know all of us are always there for the new traders and even the ones that have been around for
a while and just might need some help. ALWAYS ask if you are not sure before agreeing to a trade. I even still to this day ask if I am not sure
and my friends have come through over and over!!!! "IF" I am not sure when being asked I will find someone from our group that has also been
around for a long time and will at least try to get the person some kind of answer. If we really could not figure it out in the past we used to ask
Jim Mathews when he was still at the PTN or Steven Miller. It really comes down to still "ask" before agreeing to a trade if you are not sure.

I also thought the lanyards were nice and a great way to identify each other.

I saw on ODPT that the next PTN at WDW is on July 8th. I know we were awaiting official approval to get together a DPF group, but if this doesn't pan out would everyone want to informally meet? We could all at least wear the DPF lanyard to identify each other and those that have trading books to display could sit together.
 
We are usualy at WDW PTN 4 or 5 off us at one table. We are happy to give any advice we can. We already take up a table but we would all enjoy meeting fellow DPF members. If I"m not sure about a trade I ask someone to mediate.
 
This all sounds really nice would love to meet all of you but I live to far way But I will be there for the pin event, would love to meet some of you to get some good tips on trading, and what to look for (as in scrappers) how to tell them from the real ones.
My friends will not be going this year so meeting new friends would be nice
