WDW Pin Buying/Trading Questions!

Hello!
Annoying question here! I will be in WDW when the 13 Event Gaston pin is released. I really, really want to purchase it, its very exciting for me seeing as I am a Gaston collector!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what time I should arrive to purchase the pin? I have never been to a pin release before, ever, so I am rather nervous! I also don't exactly know...where...I am buying this thing! Is it under the pin trading hut in DTD? I feel so silly not knowing, but I have to ask! :anxious:

Also, I have quite a few scrappers sitting in a bin on my floor. They are staying far, far away from my trade book. However, I was wondering if it would be frowned upon for me to bring with me to the park, and give to children who like to trade pins. So long as I marked the backs with black Xs, would it be okay? I gave some pins away last time I went, and I liked the feeling it gave me, and I would like to do it again. But I just want to make sure I wouldn't be committing some horrible grave sin before I do it! It is to my understanding that us traders know what the black Xs on the back mean, so is it okay? :eek2: If not, I won't do it, and I will simply make the crappers in to an art project of sorts!

I always go to the Pin trading store at DTD, a good stock of em there. Line usually starts forming around 7:30a.m. day of, but being there by the time they open (9:30 I think?) Should be good enough. It takes them a while to check people out so the line moves slow.

I went to DTD for the Maleficent 13 release. I arrived at 7:30, but they didn't let us line up until 8:00am. You should be good to go if you get there about that time.

I'm gonna be there for the release as well, but I'll have you know that they usually have enough even after the release date. So you should not feel rushed. I bought the Hook one two days after it was released... Now watch this one be the one that sells out in 10 minutes.. lol..

I believe that it's only released at Pin Traders in DTD. We lined up early (8:00 am) for Maleficent but I know there were still some left late in the day maybe later. The store opens at 9:30. The earlier you are there the quicker you're out. But you could probably walk up at noon and not stand in line at all. That's just a guess based on previous releases. If you're trying to get to a park quickly I would get their early so I could leave sooner. You would probably be OK going to DTD that night after the park closes but again just a guess. They are limited to 2 pins per person. They'll let you in one door next to the cash registers where you have to purchase all the LE pins. When your facing the registers if you look behind you to the left there's a glass front box on the wall that has all the LE pins available. I don't know if you've seen one of these 13 pins. It's not a clear picture. It's like you're looking at them in the dark through a cracked mirror. Very different from your normal pin. LE 750. Good traders right now. Good luck!

Sorry I meant to mention that we got there around 8:45 for the Capt Hook release and were not much further back than we were for the Maleficent release. It all depends on the popularity of the villain.

I would NOT bring scrappers to the park. My suggestion would be to destroy them or find an alternative use for them outside of the parks and pin trading.

Thank you so much! I will probably arrive around 8:30 or 9 in the morning, I want to get out soon so we can make our way to the Magic Kingdom!

Lol I can't imagine it selling out faster than Hook or Maleficent, but I will definitely arrive early just to be sure! I didn't know they were such slow sellers, that really lets me breathe a little!

Thank you for the input! I was going to use them for a craft project but I figured I could try and give them to little traders, but the more I think about it, the more I see how that probably isn't a smart move :rofl:

I work about 10 minutes from Down Town Disney, so depending on my shift that day I was going to run there before or after work. I'm hoping to go before work so I have more of a chance, but if not, I think some will be left over. Gaston is my favorite villain EVER, so I just gotta get one~

I'm pretty sure there will be some left if you don't wait in line~ At least, that's what the lady at the WDW PTN told me.

this post has really opened my eyes, I never realised people queued so early for pins!
