GUIDE What material to use in your pin book (cork, coroplast, etc)

GUIDE What material to use in your pin book (cork, coroplast, etc)
Thanks for the information!

Im thinking about using coroplast but just not sure if i wanna make a binder or use a trading book.

As far as cutting coroplast goes, is the cutter really something worth getting? Can thr boards be cut with a fresh razor blade?

I used a little X-acto type knife from the dollar store. Worked fine!

I know this is an older post but I deciding what to get for my insert. But for anything like Coroplast or Foam Boards or even Cork Boards. What thickness do you guys get so the pin on both sides won't damage each other?
In another thread someone detailed how having two thinner corrugated plastic boards was best for the inserts, since the fluting was denser. I went with two 4mm and that has worked well.

Thank you for replying! I was scared no one would answer. I will give it a try since I bought the recently new pin bag from disneyland and would love something sturdy so it is easily to flip while having the pins be easy to put on and take out. ^^ Also is it easy to cut with scissors or no? It is my first time using this material.

I just tested it and yes, cutting with scissors isn't too difficult since it is pretty thin! If you have a cutting mat, it might be easier with a utility knife / box cutter, though.

Thank you! I will give it a try tomorrow. Trying to get my pin book ready for Wednesday since I am heading to the parks want to do more trades at Frontierland. ^^

I use coroplast in traditional disney pin bags. I find one layer sufficient but it is slid in the pocket made by the padding so might be thicker overall then when used elsewhere. I could see doubling it if being used without padding.

I use an exacto blade and it works very well. I just extend it over the arm of my sofa, put my knee on it to stabilize it, and slice. I made a template piece to control the sizing. It's super easy when going with the grain and easy enough against it. I do find that rounding the forward corners makes it MUCH easier to slide into the pocket.

I use an exactoknife
Thank you for the tips and comments. Will give it a try soon and see how it holds up!
