What Time will you be lining up for the Beloved Tales Dsf April 13th release
its threads like these that start the massive hysteria and the 2 night camp outs lol. Why even create it? Who cares what time we all get there! Lets just all look out for the DSF post on Facebook and see what they say and take it from there..geeeezz

And they've actually enforced this and gave a crap when? Um, never. I've been cut in front of, watched people leave and come back, etc. DSF does what they can. But I almost garauntee you that if they say no line ups until 8pm, people will cut at 8pm. For this much money, people just don't care. Even if you do an "unofficial" line, the security guards are told not to honor it. It's first come first serve at the posted time. I have followed to rules and the rules always let you down.

If they do anything like the Valentines Day Chocolate Boxes release it will be interesting. They cut the line off allowing people to come way later and get them, then they cut it off again and let people that came the morning of get them. Like 14 people that came morning of got those pins because of the line cut offs and people not returning on time.

I really hope they limit it to 1 set per person and say the line opens at 6am Saturday. That way you can get there without traffic jams crazy road raged driving. I highly doubt you'll have 300 people there at 6am so the inflow will be somewhat controlled after the initial line up. Some will go to WDI instead also so that will help thin it out. No campouts! and no hype!! Tell security to move people along at 6am and no "un-official" line next to budget-rent-a-wreck. Wander Hollywood if you want to come early, waste your time in the cold. Line ups at 6am!!!!

+100000.

Folks who want them bad enough will line up early. Folks who would like a shot at them will line up later. Folks who don't care and are hoping for anything will arrive at the last possible moment.

These are the times that folks will line up for every release. Just make it a FAQ already

Seriously, no one is going to give out a specific time so that everyone else can one up them. Just figure out how much time you would like to invest and go then.

They do enforce it because Jesse came to keep me company and he wasn't allowed to even stay in line with me because he came later and wasn't buying pins. He ended up letting him stay (and yes he did leave and no he did not purchase pins) and left early for work before the 7AM no more sleeping bags rule.

There used to be a group of people that hyped DSF releases just to panic people to try to come so they'd sell out. Knowing that sell outs would make them more desirable. This release is good enough to hype itself without anyone egging it along. These threads usually had one saying 8am, then oh, 8pm, then oh, you'll miss, so 6pm, then 3pm, then "Live from Hollywood" starts at 1pm and everyone rushes from work and the line is full by 2:30pm. When it comes to releases like these it's all who is the first gullible person with either no job or enough vacation time to go however early. Then word gets out it's started and the dominos fall.

I use to be one of those that did "Updates" from the line up..and i look back at it now and wouldn't do it again. First off, it causes people to look at their phones while driving!! BIG NO NO! . I say, people should just get there when they can, no need for "live updates"..it just adds to the panic and commotion.

So they did let him stay eventually, doesn't that kind of prove they don't really follow their own rules? I know, he didn't actually buy pins. He's honest. I understand you just wanted company while in line. I don't see anything wrong with that. But not everyone are as honest as you ugys. I suppose the unofficial order of buyer sheet of paper helps with that...although...Which brings me to my next point, and not directed at you guys, so please don't take offense.

So now, we as a pin community, have decided to take it upon ourselves to say who is in line and where they are on a sheet of paper. Yet, we all know someone left for X number of hours and came back at the chocolate box release and people covered for them. So how does that piece of paper even mean anything? Noone is willing to call said person out in the open on the forum. I'm sure if I did I'd get an infraction or some ban or something just like last time I called out a cutter. Apparently even the thread of an angry mob of people standing in line for hours on end isn't even enough to scare some people straight. There is no way to keep people honest at these releases. People without morals will go to any lengths to get what they want or to make money. I don't get how people think they are above others that common sense doesn't apply to them. Greed has many faces I guess. I just hope DSF comes to some sort of conclusion about how they will do releases that forces it to be fair for all. Until they do, we all get to play the guessing game of how, when, who.

I'l caveat my first statement that I don't mean the one release where you guys had birthday parties at the overnighter. I know that was just meant to be fun. There were plenty more than just that one that were hyped up.

Back to the "Live" threads. I'm torn. I like the updates to know how it's going but at the same time I think those create hype and panic. I know many people have friends and texting and back channel communication makes insider info for the groups of friends valuable. The "Live from" threads broadcasts that info for all to see and makes the info known to everyone. Also it's probably fun for the non-locals to read along and see what's happening.
I think the only way to stop the panic caused by the line counts is either to pick a time to let people come (and don't allow "unofficial lines") or go to online random selection with all the criteria I've previously layed out to avoid people from manipulation the system. The point I always come back to.

Online random selection with sign ups 2 weeks in advance, notice of picks 1 week in advance, and you must sign up for a log-on / shopper number in person with valid ID and show valid ID at pick up. Stagger line up times for 1-75, 76-150, 150+ like 10am, 12pm, 4pm. Post at 2pm how much is left over so 4PM second chance line knows if it's worth a shot or not. Allow kids to use parents ID's for their number and allow out of towners to fax in ID if they want to sign up. Delete accounts with no shows, etc, etc.

There were a pretty decent number of people who cut in front of my girlfriend and I at the Oz release. It's only the second release we've been to because we live in PA. Luckily enough, we were there at like 4 AM. and were close enough that it didn't matter, but it was kind of ironic to see that sign at the front of the line claiming how strict DSF is about their rules. Please. I'd say there were at least about 8 different people who jumped in with friends in various spots in line 30-45 minutes before the pins went on sale, and they were definitely not there at any point from when we arrived.

Realistically, I had totally expected it to happen, but it sucks for whoever was like 145 in line and all of a sudden became 153 and missed out on the surprise pin. I just hope whoever goes to the BT release has a calm, peaceful time haha =). I know if I was out there for this one, I'd probably be there at least by Friday evening.

Yes they let him stay, we explained that his sole purpose there was to keep me company and that he was leaving before the pins were even released and he was okay with it. We also tell people around us (in front/behind) that he's just here for the night and not purchasing pins. So it doesn't prove that they don't follow their own rules, their rules strictly say that anyone found cutting or saving spots (none of which we were doing) will be kicked out of their place in line.We don't know if you go straight to the back or if they just plain kick you out. This is why we went to the main security guy to ask if him staying was okay.

As for the pin community, people know each other. Yes there are always new traders and So Cal has a lot of traders (old and new) but most people are on alert on who is around them and behind them. I have several times seen people in the front (which almost always is the same group of 20-30 people) say something to someone cutting behind them.

As for your comments on the chocolate box release, we do not know who you're referring to nor do we really care (as things are in the past and nothing can be done now but improve on how releases are handled), but they explicitly told us that we were allowed to leave the line for bathroom breaks AND lunch breaks. Granted, who knows how long they'll let you eat lunch/dinner, but you were allowed to leave for hours just not something ridiculous, like say half a day.

Right, but 6+ hours and missing a line check and having friends cover for you? Dishonest.

In case anyone doesn't know what rules everyone is referring to:
  1. Saving spots in line will not be allowed, please notify a store manager if this occurs.
  2. No cutting in line.
  3. No "in and outs" of line, except for bathroom use and meals.
  4. Each guest, age 4 and older, may purchase up to two (2) of each LE 300 pins, one (1) each of any LE 150 pins, and one (1) each of any surprise pin. (Per Day)
  5. Walt Disney Company Cast Member discounts will only be valid for the cast member's allotted set.
  6. Pin Trader Delights will be limited to two (2) per person, per day. Phone orders are not available for Pin Trader Delight Sundaes. All Pin Trader Delights must be purchased at the Soda Fountain Restaurant.
  7. The walkway must remain clear at all times for staff and deliveries.
  8. No tents, sleeping bags, canopys, etc. in the area until after 10:00 PM. Camping gear must be cleared out by 7:00 AM the following morning.
  9. Restrooms will be available at Disney's Soda Fountain during operating hours. Stage Door Security restroom will be available from the close of the Soda Fountain till 8:00 AM. From 8:00 AM till the opening of the Soda Fountain, guest may use the restroom at the theatre.

And of course:
Please note - all information and rules are subject to change at any time.

Lol people have been talking about this since they flyer came out!, I have had pm's, texts, and FBM, from so many people asking me. From what I was told they dont want more than one two nights of camping out. They want to avoid the Valentine's boxes from happening again. So lets not go crazy making a rush mob to this line. I hope everyone is safe and sound when they do line up
