What Was Your First???
Back in 2003 my mom got me this pin set to start me off Pin 4793: Bambi & Thumper on Flowers 2 Pin Set it was so I could trade on cast lanyards. But the one I keep and love the most is Pin 40313: Jessica Rabbit - Standing she got it for me in 06 when I got my first Annual pass

Such great stories! I think know what got each other "hooked" is awesome! We are all here due to one specific experience...Unlike knowing what sucked everyone in, ha ha! :)

Got these on my 1st visit to WDW in 2006. I didnt get any more until I visited again in 2008.
I lost the LGM pin for a while, but I refound him sometime later and I was so happy ^__^

I'm pretty sure my first pin was either the my first trip to disney world pin or my 2006 disney world pin with cinderella and the castle on it. I pretty much knew I was going to collect them from the moment I stepped into the parks lol

yep still have it,a small tink from a set of 4 given to my daughter by a trader in downtown disney in1999
Pin 2138: JDS - Tinker Bell Mini Pin Set its the one bottom left corner

we still have that one ,even though we have the complete set as well
plus most of the other pins from that trip which we traded as a result of that first gift xxx

These where the first pins I ever owned. My Mom was a Disney Lover and would buy me anything Sleeping Beauty.

The 2 pins on the right are part of the Countdown to the Millennium pin series that came out at the Disney Store in 1999. My Mom wanted to collect all of them, I believe there is 101 pins in the series. She would buy them a little at a time but, eventually they stopped selling them and my Mom never got a chance to collect the whole series. So, I have been trying to get all of them for her so I can frame it and give it to her one day. I think I have over 50 of them but,...

... this is the pin that started it all. This is the one that got me HOOKED! LOL. Like many of us we probably started trading in the parks for Cast Pins. I seen this one on a cast members lanyard and asked where I can buy that pin at. Then he explained to me that I could not buy it but, I had to trade for it. So, I bought some cheap pin right there and traded with him. Soon after I went home and got on my computer and found out all about Trading, LEs, Cast pins and all sorts of things. I already had a bunch of pins that I had collected over the years that I really did not want but, I could trade them for ones I did want. There was my ah-ha moment and .... BOOM! a new Pin trader was born.

I used to work at the El Capitan Theatre and it was St. Patrick's Day and I wanted to wear something green. I went over to DSF on my break and saw this Mickey pin and decided to buy it. After that, I just started to slowly buy DSF pins and in October when they released Nightmare pins and I bought them all and I realized that maybe I collect pins.

I still have the pin, I've decided to always keep it because it's what got me started.

First pin was a free pin we received upon check-in to the Wilderness Lodge back in 2002

First Purchased pin was purchased during the same trip in 2002. It's a bit beat up, but I still have it.

There's a difference between my FIRST pin and the pins that thrust me into collecting.

I'm pretty sure that my first Disney pin was the Headless Horseman (http://pinpics.com/pin.php?pin=17709) or a Nightmare Before Christmas one. And I picked up a Disneyland 50th anniversary one as a souvenir when I was there in 2005, and a Disneyland Paris 15th anniversary one when I was there in 2008. However, my collecting sort of began (unbeknownst to me) with my trip to Tokyo Disneysea in 2009. I bought three souvenir pins of the Mysterious Island attractions: http://pinpics.com/pin.php?pin=61876, http://pinpics.com/pin.php?pin=67874, and http://pinpics.com/pin.php?pin=65935. After my trip back to Disneyland in 2012, I caught the pin bug and chose to expand those three pins out to a whole Jules Verne collection. I may also partly blame a Stitch pin (http://pinpics.com/pin.php?pin=82140) that I traded that Nightmare Before Christmas one off for. That 50th anniversary pin also expanded out to a souvenir collection of all the parks and tours and things I've been to, but that doesn't REALLY count since those are just souvenirs.

SO yeah, it wasn't any one pin that got me going, but kind of a slow evolution in that direction ^_^

This is the very first Disney pins that I purchased. It was a set of pins that came on a safari style hat that I bought when I was at WDW back in 2000.

I also bought these pins at the same time while I was there:

I also still have these pins and probably will never get rid of them since they were my very first Disney pins that I ever got.

Not sure exactly which one was my first, because when I visited Disney for the first time, I fell in love with pins and bought loads, but here is a taste of the ones I bought:
