Warning: This may be a silly newbie post. If so, please feel free to point and laugh and call me a silly newbie. <3

As I've stated in previous threads, I'm not necessarily new to the Pin World, but I am new to the trading side of things. (My mom and I started collecting when the Disney Store did the Countdown to the Millennium, but they were for our own enjoyment, we never, EVER thought that trading would take off the way that it has!)

Can someone give me the skinny on Jerry Leigh? I did a Google Search and found the website which just looks like a wholesale website, tried looking it up on Wikipedia and in other places. CrushedBubbles posted a new group princess pin for 2013 in another thread, and it's a Jerry Leigh pin. They don't seem to be "rare" necessarily, but I'm curious about the distinction. Everything looks "official", but I'm curious about this manufacturer/store/entity.

Anyway, that's all. Just looking for some clarity. I did manage to get my grimy little paws on said group princess pin (yay), but I like knowing things. Makes me feel special.

Thank you guys!! xo

I'm sure someone here will give you the "big" skinny on Jerry Leigh. But they manufacture licensed Disney pins. They can be found in gift shops around both USA parks and sometimes in the gift shops at LAX. I think price-wise they go for about 5-7 dollars....

In FL you can find his pins in the WalMart's near WDW property! Some are very nice and the prices are resaonable and they are tradeable in the Parks.

I'm roughly an hour away (without or little traffic) from DLR and I found a bunch at my Walmart but haven't seen them lately. Which I'm sad about cause I want more traders.

Haha, Dawny, you're so cute!! <3 This place has made it fun to be a newbie!!

And thanks for the heads up guys! I was just wondering what the distinction meant!! And now it makes a lot more sense. So are the two Rapunzel pins different? (On pinpics there's a Jerry Leigh Rapunzel that looks identical to the one sold at the parks...)

Yeah they are: I don't know the size difference, but here are the three that look pretty much the same except size and glitter :)

UGH. SO SILLY. I knew about the Disney Store variation, but now I need a Jerry Leigh Rapunzel, too!!

Thanks for the info!!

Hi there, for inquiring minds who want to know...Jerry Leigh is a company who is authorized and has permission from Disney to design, manufacture and sell Disney pins. They sell at various stores as mentioned above, I've found them in souvenir/gift shops in the hotels all around DLR (my home park). They don't do anything fancy (3D, etc.), but they have some nice designs. You can do a search on Pinpics, just check the box "Jerry Leigh" and enter, you should get most, if not all, the pins they've released.

The DS one is big. like jumbo-ish.
The Jerry one has more glitter and is literally a hair smaller when you hold em next to eachother.
The park one has less glitter, I think it is the least pretty.

I had all three for a little while. I liked the JL one better that then other 2 oddly enough.

oh, and while the jerry lieghs may all be open edition. I find that the artwork and the paint colors is usually prettier than the other stuff. They get some of the less typical positions and pin styles.

Actually the Jerry Leigh Rapunzel has no glitter, and is the smallest of the three. :)

Not the best picture...but here is a side-by-side comparison of the three identical-but-not-identical Rapunzels...

Rapunzel_Comparison.jpg

Left- Disney Store LE 250
Middle- Disney Parks
Right- Jerry Leigh

Differences that I can see...

-Disney Store has two pin posts, the other two have one pin post

-The hairbrush on the DS pin has no detail, the Disney Parks pin brush has the most detail, and the Jerry Leigh has a little detail

-The Disney Parks pin is the only one with glitter, which is only on her hair (hard to tell from my picture), her hair is also darker yellow than the other two

-Disney Parks Rapunzel has pupils, the other two do not

-Disney Parks Rapunzel has detailed fingers on the hand that is holding the brush, the other two do not

-On Disney Parks Rapunzel the brush continues below her hand, the other two do not

The Disney Store Rapunzel is obviously the most sought-after because it is the largest and has a low edition size, whereas the other two are "open edition"....although the Disney Parks one was recently replaced with this pin
pin93357th72
...so I guess that one is now technically "retired", but still fairly easy to obtain.

In my opinion, the Disney Parks pin is the nicest of the three, because it is by far the most detailed, and the only one with glitter hair. :)

And Jerry Leigh pins (in Florida) are sold at the two Wal-Marts closest to WDW, and I believe I have seen them at a few Disney outlets as well...although the Wal-Marts always have the largest and newest selection. :)
