UPDATED 1/4/2014: Some More Pins to Be Cautious Of.....

If you have seen my last pin comparison thread, I had speculated that the 2012 DSF Christmas Box Pin Set had been counterfeited. Here are some more pins to keep an eye out for....These are from the same seller that i had referenced to before (Although I can't say their name, please PM me if you want to know). I have included Pinpics and DisneyPinPlace ID numbers for all pins so that no matter what site you use, you will know!

I have labeled the sellers A, B, C, etc. so that I can keep track and also you can see a trending pattern with the sellers.

I have heard that sellers A, B, and C might have ties with each other. As I look at their listings now (Completed ones), they say that they all are gone until December 27, 2013. Each one of them. Also, I have heard that 2 of these have had the same return addresses and sometimes they use the same photos.

Seller D sells a lot of the Jessica costume pins off of the original card for around $8 usually.

Seller E is from Kentucky and in their stock photo has a Disney Parks bag behind the pin, usually on original card but no plastic.

Seller F is from Anaheim, CA but they use Pinpics photos and what is concerning is that they use another person's watermark pic as their own.

They also have the same titles compared to two different IDs. Two of the Sellers IDs have the same descriptions while one does not. This leads me to believe that they MIGHT be the same person with three different accounts (all in Anaheim, CA). They all use pinpics pictures and sometimes do the wrong watermark..so it is concerning. I will label those Seller G and Seller H.

Seller I is a Chinese seller selling a lot of the Sorcerer hat pins especially Evil Queen.

Seller B: 16 times it has been sold using a stock photo. Only one other listing did not belong to the seller and the other listing came from China :facepalm:


There are some I have not listed and these don't even have PinPics Scrapper warnings ( maybe comments but no official warnings). So, you can't really depend on if there is a warning or not anymore. Let me know if you have any questions. Please do not think I haven't done my research. Some people seem to think I make this stuff up, but I really don't. No, I can never be 100% sure that they are selling bad pins here, but I have bought from one of these sellers before, and they blocked me after I told them they gave me some bad pins. It really speaks wonders.

I unfortunately think this set has been scrapped. There is a seller from China selling these that have been very well known to sell scrappers and other sellers previously mentioned. So, that brings us to Seller J.
One seller has a pin for sale that I believe to be real. Their's has a black screened code on the back of their pin, while the one from China has no code.

I would be cautious of buying this set on ebay. All of the pins are sold separately too and not on the card.

I appreciate the info.

Before I went on vacation in late August, I started saving certain Ebay sellers sold listings, to go through them and see how frequently certain low edition pins have been offered by them. But then when I got back, that project fell by the wayside due to freaking out about new Pinpics, which now I'm working on an organizational system for my own pins/research, so my Ebay seller tracking has completely fallen by the wayside. Only so many hours in a day.

It's an important task that should be done to make sure pin traders are as well-informed as possible.

I will try to find a good thread that is already made about how to tell scrappers and stuff..I am not an expert myself, but I am sure there is something in existence.

And it really is a shame. Shame on the people selling these. I would never in good conscience sell a scrapper to someone. And yes, those Costume pins are really bad. Just so many sold over and over and over again.
