This new structure sounds as a wee bit confusing for me, but I personally wish I could set my preference by pin. If I am trading for a loungefly or other common OE pin, I am fine with auto approve for any pin that is authentic and doesn't have major flaws. All of these minor blemishes are making me crazy. If I can't see it without a magnifying glass or if the "flaw" can only be seen at certain angles, then I don't think of it as a blemish or flaw but a production imperfection that is just par for the course. I guess some people are looking for perfection, but I feel like there are a lot of pins that I would set to: auto approve authentic with minor blemishes. Now if the flaw is something that can clearly be seen without looking for it, I would definitely want to see a picture.
For the rarer LE pins, I would be pickier, especially if they are potential traders, so I would set my approve preferences a little higher. But being able to auto approve minor blemishes should speed up the process for those of us who are not seeking absolute perfection.
And on that note, I would love to be able to get a note when I go to trade with people who frequently decline pins for these minor blemishes. So if I am offered a pin by this person in the future, or I want to offer something on their table, I get a little warning: This person frequently declines pins for minor blemishes. Why waste all our time?
All that said, I feel like there needs to be a blemish rating system from minor (production imperfections that are only noticeable when searching for it or using a magnifiying glass) to major (can clearly be seen without looking). I think that gets to a grading system similar to what
@ViciousLady mentioned.
