I've kind of been assuming, when looking at pins for sale by members on this site, that they're all real. Has there ever been any incidents with scrappers here? Is it safe to keep on assuming the best?

I have had problems with scrappers and just poor sellers. Being a member of DPF does not necessarily make you trustworthy and neither does having a lot of feedback, but if you have a problem their are always the mods who can step in. Or you can put them on blast, because I'm sure no one wants to be exposed to everyone here for being a scam artist.

I haven't been here long, but there have only been a few incidents that I've seen. Mostly with people that don't follow through with the trade. It always seems to work out in the end though. That being said, I'm always very careful of who I trade with and deal with. I make sure they are talking here, not just selling here. If I've seen them on a while and have seen how they act, then I would even send my pins before they send theirs.

I am a person that always wants to believe the best in people but at the same time being smart. I probably wouldn't buy any pins from people who cannot tell me great feedback. I know that is with time but I just avoid buying hidden mickeys from anyone online now. But always be cautious and you have mod and admins to assist with any issues.

I second Amy. :)

I try to believe the best in people unless proved to me otherwise. From my experience, 98% of the people i've come in contact with here at DPF are kind, welcoming and informative. Don't be afraid to ask people if they know a specific username that you are having concerns over. Also, it would be best to just stay away from hidden mickey's all together when dealing with it online. Its probably your safest bet to not get scrappers.

And of course, The MODS are always available to help when needed.

You can trust a few of us. Judy, Debi, Dawn, etc. I'd like to think I'm a trusted member here. I've had a few incidents but I've immediately fixed them whether it be re-sending a pin in place of something lost, damaged or stolen or just plain refunding the person.

No, you can't trust everyone here. Even if it seems like they are a "respected" member.
Please make sure to look at feedback, if they have even one negative feedback and yours is perfect I don't think it is unreasonable to ask them to send their pins before you send yours.

Also, there are different layers of trust. When it comes to scrappers, picking them out can take some experience and knowledge. And even then, scrappers may not reveal themselves unless you have an authentic one side-by-side. So while I might buy a pin from a newer trader that comes on card, I won't buy/trade for a HM pin. I might not even trade those with older, experienced traders just because I don't know how carefully they check. For example, I probably won't trade DL HMs with WDW people just because a lot of the DL HM's that show up on lanyards in WDW are fakes. Yes, real ones can show up due to DL traders heading east, but if given an option I'd rather rely on a DL person for DL HMs.

I think there are very very few people (if any at all) that would trade or sell scrappers knowingly here. Even then, as it is said, the only way to avoid bad pins is to buy directly from Disney. It always helps to ask questions, post pictures and stay educated.

Certain pin categories are notorious for getting scrapped. It is also safe to stay away from those.

If all else fails, our mods have always been awesome in resolving my issues.

I am awesome trade with me!:hsd: seriously, each sit is different. I have never had a problem myself, i ask people use a DC#, if they are lousey responding to even nail down the trade then that says alot. I have only a few quirks here and mainly about someone not sending a pin, claiming they did...bla bla bla
oh and debi.......i dont know about her......HI DEBI, i texted you today and sent a pic of the beach!

Even with a trusted member, there is always the possibility that a scrapper or something non-legit could slip by ;P
