I wanted to make a special thank you to Steve and Brenna (TheOtherSteve and Mad_For_Alice) (even though they said they didn’t want any credit :) ) for their amazing kindness towards another stranger.

Being a pin collector now for the past three years I’ve seen some dramatic changes in the way new pins are being dealt with. Three years ago you could hop on disneyshopping on a Sunday night and grab a few nice pins or head down to DSF two weeks after a release and get the latest pins. It’s now sadly changed into who can get the pins first and who can sell them for the most.

I understand times have changed and disneyshopping has really stopped releasing pins, but honestly, it’s getting too expensive for anyone newish to really keep up.

So moving on, as an avid villain collector (my name just says it all) I was so excited about all the new villain merchandise coming out. I just knew there was going to be pins made, it was just a matter of when. I had been checking every Sunday night/Monday morning in hopes of them being released but nothing. Then one Monday morning I woke up to not only find out they were released, but that they sold out and were going for hundreds on ebay already. I know it was a total surprise to most of us, but this is just what I collect, and I missed them.

That day I believe, I had been posting that I missed out on getting the pins, not even that I wanted someone to sell me them or trade them, just that I was sad I didn’t get them, and I received a message from Steve saying his friend Brenna got an extra set and she wants to sell it to me at cost.

Total shock! I couldn’t believe in this age of pin trading that someone would not be in it for the money but for the pure happiness of trading and getting the set to someone who would appreciate it.

This is what pin trading is all about people! Getting collections of pins into the hands of people who want them, not to make hundreds off of a set they don’t even like.
Again a special THANK YOU for the special gift that was in my mail today. Best mail day ever!

It truly is what pin trading is all about :) Making friends and helping each other! Especially when most traders don't live near the parks or don't have enough time/money to collect the pin they desire the most.

I don't have loads of money or loads of pins but the first chance I get or if I get a good trade/deal I definitely remember the kindness and try my best to pass it on :)

Oh yes, and congrats! Cheers to those two whom helped you <3.

Wow! Congratulations and so generous and kind of Steve and Mad_for_Alice! I love this forum and glad you got the pins (esp. b/c of your username lol). Also I hope I can meet you and other Bay Area/ Nor cal traders (didn't even know about the Davis event!)

This is a super wonderful story. When I got into pin trading like 5-6 years ago, I had a friend who had traded years before when he had worked at WDW so he taught me everything, sadly the way that pin trading has gone has really turned him off of the hobby, myself as well. I would prefer to buy pins off of ebay now that I live too far away to buy them because trading has become so cutthroat. I too completely missed out on this release and while I hold no illusions that I will find some generous benefactor to sell me the set at cost, I think it's really great that this happened to you. Makes me think that there are still a few good people out there in this hobby. Coming in 2nd to Alice my villain collection is my biggest collection and those pins are beyond lovely, I don't believe in pin karma but I do believe in random acts of kindness and this one was a doozy.

I am totally blown away right now... Everyone knows Steve is an amazing member here and his generosity and help to all the members is un-matched... Well until maybe now... I say this only because I know how much Brenna truly wants this set for herself... Don't beleive me look at my auction and see their bid... She told us at the last pin trading event how much she liked them and how she wanted a set for herself... Unfortunatly we had committed the set we had to auction and our other to another trader... But she never ever mentioned that she already had a set in hand and in the kindness of her heart did this amazingly wonderful thing for you... I knew there was something special about her and her boyfriend the moment we met them that night... was not sure what it was... but you could see that special something in their eyes... They definatly got the magic inside of them... I knew it... Congratulations to you and to the forum for having two amazing members like this...

That is a wonderful story and I can tell you from personal experience that Steve is one of "those" people - you know - the kind who likes to help people and doesn't expect much in return. Thank goodness for people like these who truly have the pin spirit and are helping to keep pin trading alive. They truly have the Disney Way when it comes to generosity.

YES Steve is the best,I recieved my Villian set today and it cost me the price of the pins and shipping
no over charge at all for the pins, they were retail what disney charged...I cannot thank Steve enough!
