These PinPic Trade requests are getting silly. What are some of your stories.
When I was brand new to PinPics, I was totally guilty of sending out the MOST lopsided trade requests ever - simply because I didn't really understand that some pins were much more desired/expensive than others. I was just trying to trade pins I had for pins I liked the look of... :facepalm:

Now I try to send out fair trades only. If I'm offering an easy pin for something a bit more difficult to obtain, I always include a note that lets them know I'd be happy to trade several of my pins for one of theirs, and encourage them to check out my trades list to see if there's anything else they're interested in.

Not that it matters in the long end, though. I'd say I get one answer for every 35 requests I send out. (And that answer is "no thank you" most of the time. :lol:)

I was being sarcastic in that post you must have not caught it. Some people seem to think that they can trade anything for those pins. Idk how you keep your sanity as listing those as traders, the amount of requests would drive me nuts

Yes, I did miss the sarcasm, which so often happens online. It was much worse when I had all of them listed. Now I only have a few good ones left and 1 or 2 not listed and a few more in my collection. But indeed I get offers, usually lopsided ones daily. The funny thing is I can't even trade my Reveal/Conceals for other people's.
 
Here's a question for some of the veterans....

I just started trying out the trade assistant in Pinpics this week. It was so cool that my first request and offer were from Canada and England, respectively.

I do understand that not all pins are created equal but there are some categories that I'm not quite sure what a fair trade would be. For example, I adore the Mickey Circus Sideshow pins. This year at Disneyland there was really no equivalent, at least not an event only, limited release, mystery box equivalent. If you can’t offer an equivalent, what would be a fair trade for this?

Just my opinion of course, but you can always offer older harder to get pins like your mystery stamp pins. Try to find things that have a similar trade to wants ratio, or like others have mentioned put a note in the comments section that you are willing to offer more then one pin.

Mention in the comments section at the bottom of the request page that you are willing to trade more then one pin for their set.
 
:eek2: I had a very strange request today. Someone offered me Maximus from the DLP Tangled Booster set in return for my entire DLP Tangled Booster set. Not sure how they work that one out! :eek2:
 
Just today yesterday on pinpics I requested to trade a rack pin for another rack pin. Today I looked at my emails and the person had emailed me and asked me if I would trade an LE 1000 pin for the same rack pin. I was like no are you kidding me!!! :eek2:
 
Please keep in mind that we are dealing with a multitude of traders, from beginners to veterans, from children to adults. I know that I really appreciated the patience of the more experienced traders when I first started. I still remember the name of the trader that helped me. At first, she accused me of being a shark. But, once I explained I was new and apologized for offending her, she eased up and helped educate me. She still has my deepest appreciation and I always check in to see if I can help her out periodically. I also remember the crusty ones - I also have some of their grails, that they would looooove to have; such a pity. Muwhaaahahah!

That being said, I always try to look at the other person's traders in the hopes that I can find an equitable trade for what they want. Most of the time it works out great and I get a new pin-pal. Occasionally, it doesn't work out, either because they don't have the pin of interest or they're not so honest. By the same token, when someone offers me a trade that is grossly in my favor, I always give them a heads up and/or try to add to the offer so its more fair to them. I believe big time in Pin-Karma. :)

I respond, often with a counter offer. I try to put in my notes when sending out requests that counteroffers are totally welcome since we can only offer ONE pin for something. Often I'm trying to get them to look at my traders and see if I have anything else they might want.
 
I frequently receive HM trade requests for my PODM, DSF, and WDI pins. It's not just about the monetary value, it's also about the time spent attempting to obtain and or try and trade for those pins. I will consider a trade if they do post in a note that this is just to open up a trade with me for consideration, and they would like for me to look at their available trades for a bit more fair trade request. What I don't like is if a person is intentionally trying to take advantage of a newer pin trader who may not be aware of the value of their pin ( as I have seen some pin traders do in the park).
