If anyone knows who the person is I traded with it would be helpful, all the info I have that would be helpful is, he is the one who antagonized the homless guy that pulled the box cutter, he was wearing a blue sweater and had thick glasses, he hung out mostly with Rumtumtugger, if I got the name right. I don't know if he is a forum member or not but if he is I would like to PM him.

I traded with him for http://gallery.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=79256&sid=1491.1360093945.v2 it was so cute, I was having so much fun I did not look over the pin that well, till last night, I found lots of dips in the enamel, and some streaks, I looked on pinpics but there is no scrapper information on this pin so I am not sure if there is a scrapper made for this pin, but I will take pics of the one I received in trade to show the dips and lines. im so bummed because I think it is a scrapper. I need to learn to be more observent before making a trade.

If anyone knows who this is can you PM me, I would like to PM him if he has the backer card for it, because that would help ease the questions I have.

you can see the dip in the enamel on the tire and just above the tire and below the headlight there is another subtle dip you can barley see it, and all the streaks in the enamel, I just don't know?

I doubt its a scrapper as it most likely is just a manufacturing error pin. Not every pin that look bad is a scrapper. Disney does sometime release pins that are not up to standard and manufacturing errors do occur.

I don't want to cause problems or start a huge argument, but part of the problem in the hobby today is everyone assumes there are scrappers or counterfeits of every Disney pin. Outside of the Hidden Mickeys and Mystery Pins, there are probably very few percentage of pins that are actually scrappered or counterfeited.

Most likely the guy pawned off on you just a bad looking pin that had manufacturer defects. That's actually just as bad in my book if he didn't let you know about them, but it doesn't make a pin a scrapper.

I am sorry that happened to you and I hope you get in contact with the person as he most likely knew the pin had defects in it.
 
I agree with most of what nWoJeffDW said except for blaming the issue on the other trader.
All traders need to take responsibility for what they are accepting in trade and should look at the
pin at the time - not a few days later. What is an issue for you - as far as condition is concerned -
may genuinely not have been an issue for the other person. Only you can decide what you are
willing to accept. Clearly condition is a MAJOR issue for you - so you need to take extra care
and responsibility for screening the pins you accept in trade.
 
I have passed up plenty of pins on the racks at DLR and have a few in my collection that I missed before purchasing that have dips like that in the paint. Just ones that missed quality control or were deemed okay to go ahead and send.
 
thats how the pin was. im person you traded with. ill give you a dsf backer for it. i thought u liked the pin thats why i traded you the pin. i do not trade pin that are scappers. I hate scappers. i was happy with the two pin that we traded that night. i did not antagonized the knife incident. it was not a box cuter. the guy flipped it out on me and people saw that it was a knife

It's ok I'm not trying to start a battle about the incident, it was the only thing I could remember about you because I had never met you before or knew who you were. I was just trying to find out if you were a member here. Thanks for responding. we can PM each other from here on out.

I've seen pins like this from DSF on several occasions... There's pics of the Lilo & Stitch BT pin somewhere that mentions a lot of the pins had similar problems (especially the lines, I see those a lot). I doubt it's a scrapper, just a pin with some imperfections on it...
 
I have purchased some scrapper looking pins off of the rack at DLR. They just look like that sometimes. Wish they would stop manufacturing in China.
 
When I trade in person I try to remember to introduce myself & hope the trader reciprocates w his or her name. The pin trading community is small enough that you will probably meet again. It's nice to make acquaintances
 
I paid $300.00 plus two $25.00 pins for my Rapunzel Designer Princess pin. I had my hubby put it away so I could open it Christmas morning. I was very disappointed to see a flaw toward the bottom of her gown. The member never noticed it when she/he received it. I was offered a complete refund, but decided to keep it.
The only thing that I'd like to suggest when selling or trading a pin, inspect thoroughly before selling or trading and let the trader or buyer know of any defects.

Very top right hand corner on one of the drop down options should be close thread or you can comment again and checkmark the close thread option. Glad you got this resolved!
