Thank you all for the amazing donations we received for the DPF Fundraiser...

We are coordinating all the necessary things to get this going ASAP...

The latest donated pins are shown below...

The donation time for option 1 has ended, but the others are still available if you so choose...

Option #1 Deadline is over for this option...

The Original thread for donating a single “Grail Type†of pin… We love nice exciting items here!!!

Option #2

Join the DPF Prize Team and commit to sending some consolation pins to members near you… These are simply Rack Pins shipped locally… That’s it nothing big…

Option #3

Join in the March Madness Game in the Pin Games section… Here you commit just a nice single pin in a fun game with the possibility to win back pins and still make a donation at the same time!!!

Option #4

Direct Cash Donation to DPF without any involvement with the fundraiser - If you would like to bypass this fundraiser and would still like to donate to our beloved site, you can do so by sending a donation through PayPal as a gift to the following account...

orders@disneypinforum.com

Please indicate on the Notes Section of your Paypal transaction the the money if for the DPF Fundraiser... We will receive updates as to what was donated so we can keep the tally raised up to date for all to see...

Thank You for your support and for taking the time to read this…

I'm opting for option 2 and possibly option 3. Even my traders aren't of grail quality. And the couple that may be, are not in my possession.
We had an outage today again for a short time.

I wish I had a grail type pin to donate, I really do. I am sorry. The most I can contribute is some consolidation prizes. :(

What about those of us still waiting patiently for Option 4: Donate money directly to the forum?

I don't have traders. I buy pins off ebay (or occasionally off the forum). Rather than spend money on shipping costs both to me and then to whoever I'd be sending a pin to in options 1-3, I'd like to just donate that money directly to fixing the server.

Please don't assume that anyone who hasn't sent a pin yet isn't interested in helping the forum.

+1 I agree...I just think it would save a lot of time and energy if we just donate money or we auction off the pins....

Thank You Meggles! I thought the same thing. And 100's answered the poll? There are 2 pages and I didn't respond. I never saw it as a matter of fact.
I will become a DPF Gold Member as Cicada has tossed around that idea.
I'm also going to play in the March Madness game with the two pins I won in your game, Moe. I hope this all works out for you. Your intentions are honorable.

+ 1,000. We have overloaded the forum with auctions & games. Just look at page 1, there are more auctions and games then anything else.
It wasn't like this when I joined a year ago. Do I enjoy them! Sure, I do, I enjoy watching them as I never really have anything worth bidding.

Add me to the Option 4 group! Seems simpler and more direct to me.

I would also add that IRL, like so many, I am overwhelmed with fundraising causes, all worthy, as is this one. I wish I could contribute to them all. If only time and resources were infinite, it would be easy to do, but alas, such is not the case. It does not mean I don't care about this forum and all the great people who make it what it is. :)

Thank you, Moe, for creating the option of helping send consolation pins... I don't have any grail type pins, but I do have some nice LEs and rack pins that I'm happy to share... Glad you had an option that let me help out too. :)

I love the pin forum and all the wonderful friends that I have made. I think this is a great idea, but not everyone has grails and if we do, they are part of our collection.
With all the members we have, if you asked for ten dollars each, we would raise 1,000's.

I agree with the money thing! (: I'm new to pin trading and I don't have much to give just yet, but I would love to donate to help out! <3

Whoa, Moe. I think this thread is asking for trouble. As much as we all commend you for organizing this fundraiser... There is no way you should be pointing fingers at anyone who doesn't choose to contribute, no matter how much time they spend on this site. It is their choice whether they want to send a pin to your fundraiser, donate money straight to the source, or do nothing of the kind.

I personally have sent in a couple of pins already. I'm one of the people who opted for option #1, but that was before I knew there would be an option #2. I only have 50-75 traders at any given time and most of them are relatively "easy" pins - pins from mystery packs and booster sets. I sent in a few of my better traders, and I was happy to do it, but I was a little crestfallen to realize afterward I could have sent a few of my usual pins out as condolence prizes instead of getting rid of most of my "better" pins, which are still probably nowhere near grail status for anyone.

Also, please keep in mind that even though your fundraiser is the only one currently helping DPF itself, there is more than one pin fundraiser going right now on the forum. Danny (
Stitch2814) is currently collecting pins for a very worthy cause, as well, and has been collecting them for a while before your fundraiser got started. I contributed pins to that cause, and I know several other members have as well. Keep in mind that although a lot of us would like to help a lot of causes, we don't all have means to do it, and sometimes we have to pick and choose who to help.

I hope none of that came out sounding mean. I love you, Moe - I just wanted to speak up for some of the people who haven't donated.

There's no reason for anyone to feel guilty if they can't give a pin, for whatever reason, or if they are choosing to donate money instead.

Sara I am not offended by any comments made they are all constructive...

First off I never mean to point fingers as that was not my intentions like I stated in the original post, this was just a reminder that time is running out...

The direct donation of money is wonderful and I promise it will be option #4 when it is available... We need to be sure we have the proper account information and determine how to track and transfer the funds first...

The reason I chose a game option, as apposed to just straight out asking for money is that I feel asking for money never works... Sure some will donate $5 or $10 and others perhaps even $100 or more... but in order to raise significant funds, the best way has seemed to be these games...

If you choose to participate in the game, you can still waive the consolation prize which will save time and shipping fees and have a chance at winning a very nice pin as a thank you for your participation...

We will know better by next week what was donated and what will be the best course to raise the funds...

If I missed any concerns please re post it and again I apologize if I offended anyone as you know I love you all and that is not ever my intention...

Throwing my thoughts into this one. I personally think that if you straight up sold the pins individually it would be a better way to raise money. Not sure what the difference between "games" and "auctions" for money would be, be they buy it now prices or a certain amount of time till it ended with the highest bidder winning the pin. If there is something preventing an auction style thing, there clearly isn't something stopping flat out sales as they are on the site daily.

I am fairly new to collecting and do not have much in the way of donating, especially if in fact I am then being asked to buy pins to raise money which is in essence a double donation to the site. That said I have money to spend and would gladly do so to support the site ...BUT the thought of spending more money on yet another "game" which I have personally spent hundreds of dollars on, to end up getting pins that I could buy for substantially less is not something I will do. The unknown has become a danger to my wallet and russian roulette with my money is over.

I love the effort you are putting in Moe as it is surely a large commitment and you are a great guy to step up. I also genuinely enjoy using this forum and would be happy to support the much needed improvements. As it was never tabled to the group as to what the consensus would be most comfortable doing to raise money the outcome is of course unknown. Would there be more money raised asking for a donation straight to the site? Would more people be willing to send $5,10,50 etc before they would spend the same money on a game? I have personally noticed that the people playing the games tend to be the same group of people, not everyone can spend what the entry fees are and still more are simply not prone to gamble or take chances with their money. Would there be more interest to bid on pins or purchase them straight out? If in fact the goal here is to raise the most money possible all of those questions should be asked. Yes you may get a few games with a full list of players depending on the cost but I do not see the $1500 games selling out over and over as more games die unfilled than actually go forward.

Just my two cents, not trying to be negative just throwing out suggestions. I would really appreciate that if anyone has something nasty to say about my opinion, keep it to yourself. It would be really nice for people to be able to join in a conversation without the fear of being attacked.

I do understand all your concerns and we are taking all suggestions into account before any decisions are made on how is best to raise the funds... I feel the large team of individuals involved is very knowledgeable and we continue to reach out to those with specialties in specific areas as I did with a member this week to give values to all our donations... They are now going to be working with their own team to determine the true value of what was donated and again we can then better understand what course of action we should take...

You should never feel any fear of bad comments for putting your two cents in... We are all one big family and everyone's opinions are important...

I had no idea about the option #2, rack or decent but not insane grail pins for consolation prizes. I saw the title of that thread and figured I wasnt on a team, nor could I volunteer time for a team, so I did not look at it.

As with several others on here, I have to say I really do not have any "grail" traders that I can afford to donate to this cause. I will merrily look into the option #2.

I also still really like the idea of a paying membership.

Thank you for encouraging us to voice our opinion :)

I too am in the same boat with the folks who prefer to donate money. I have to depend on Ebay to hunt for great traders and it is easier for me to part with $$ instead of pins.

And while some of the games on the forum are nice & easy with a small number of spots (I loved Marisa's and Cindi's games and prizes), the bigly ones are intimidating and complicated for me, so I tend to shy away. Hence, a more direct approach and K.I.S.S. method would be my choice to raise funds.

And since we refer ourselves as "DPF family", I can't help wondering where the family elders stand on this. If Cicada and Bricklayer already posted their input somewhere and if I missed it, I apologize.

I am one who is waiting to donate money vs pins simply because it appears (to me) that all that is wanted is high level grail pins- which I don't own-

As for the 'auction/games' personally I think more money would be raised in a bid/ auction style format vs game. I am not a fan of games simply because despite the reassurances they are not 'rigged' towards friends it always seems that time and again those are who wins.

Just my 2 cents

I just don't have pins to give AND money to contribute toward the "fundraiser" part as well. I would rather financially contribute then send in mediocre pins for this. If I didn't just have surgery with a whopper coinsurance fee I would be all over this more.....just really really bad timing.

I 100% agree. I sent two pins in that were decent traders but not grail worthy in the first round. I had no idea there would be an option 2. I would have chosen option 2, if I knew it existed. I don't have "grail worthy" anything really. Even in my collection. I know you put up this post with the best intentions, but I am afraid some people may take it the wrong way.
