Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
I am....hoping that somthing comes out, if not tonight soon. I just got into collecting the 17 inch last year and want more lol

If they make an Esmeralda, they should include the tambourine and goat. If they make Jessica Rabbit, IDK what to give her (a microphone?), If there is Mulan (ahhhh) PUT THE GOSH DARN COMB NOT A FAKE LITTLE HAIR TIE! More power to them if something of brother bear comes out I LOVED the moose even if they were timon and pumbaa rip-offs.

I'm starting to think that maybe with all this speculation it is going to result in our expectations being higher than it should be. Also I find that the anxiety of waiting for the next doll to come out has resulted in to a lot of reading in to things from places that may not even be a source or have anything to do with the release.

Hopefully Disney will release some info soon just so that we can have something solid to work off of.

Another doll line for designers could be designer heroes with Quasimodo, Phoebus, Taran, Arthur, Merlin, Roger, and Peter Pan. They coordinate with Megara, Esmeralda, Eilonwy, Cruella De Vil, Anita, and Wendy.

I know it's just wishful thinking, but if they ever did create a Phoebus, I would probably pass out before I had a chance to order him.

I know the desperation, I do! I just think if we are completely REALISTIC we know that they won't put money into anything that they know in advance won't be a big seller :) yes Mulan would sell to an extent, but she is at the bottom of the princesses (sales wise), I think they know they most likely wouldn't sell 5,000 dolls of her at $100 a pop... Even other characters that aren't selling out like the designer villains.... That's why I think it isn't likely that Disney would make ANY dolls that they know would be iffy sales... Not trying to be a rain cloud, just keepin it real ;) seems like many people here actually believe -- not just hope, but believe that Disney is going to make illogical sales moves. I know I'm no Disney, but I had my own doll making business before and I know for a fact that obscure characters don't sell.

Disney has made many surprise releases without warning when it came to pins. I missed out on so many LE 100 sets because they were released without warning. Since the past few years a doll was released in March, I felt it to be More logical to release a doll last night than say in two weeks. I hope we can get a little advanced notice when something is on the way.

To a certain extent I do agree, like I said before a lot of the speculation is starting to make this thread sound a lot more like a dolls version of AA where those who are addicted to dolls can get their little fix from venting due to no doll release, instead of an informative one. But I can understand why people are getting antsy around now and it's because as I'mNitBad stated above, in the past few years that they have been doing LE releases they have always released one at around this time of year. So the fact that people thought there would be one on the 12th makes sense as there were several DVD releases on the same day as well.

By the way, Disney released China doll before the movie even came out and at such a huge price hike so even that was a gamble by them and quashes the theory that they would not put their money into something they know would not sell in advance or of the lesser known characters as no one knew who China Doll was or if she would even become popular as she is not even in the original Oz. Granted she had a low edition size but this would have been because she was so expensive and they also had Calhoun who did take a while to sell but eventually did.

Also dolls are not just released to commemorate diamond edition releases as this was not the case for Tiana, Rapunzel, Alice and Merida. Also there was no information leaked when China Doll came out a few weeks ago. So I can understand why there is more speculation now than ever due to people believing that we are due for a doll very soon.

At the same time I can also understand why you would believe that some of the speculation was starting to sound desperate but like I said that is just a persons way of venting out their doll absence fix, so at the end of it it really has nothing to do with being realistic as a lot of people always mention in their post that it is unlikely but they can always dream, so its probably best to just let people speculate all they want with the hope that Disney will release some information soon.

On an unrelated note, does anyone feel hype and excitement for Disney Infinity? They got pre-order stuff on the site. It looks kewl.

Please try to keep posts (within reason) to the subject matter of the thread. I can recall there being another thread about the Disney Infinity game in the Disney Chat section if you wanted to raise your post there or you could always raise a new thread.

I may have missed it in the previous posts, but one thing that I think needs serious consideration is money right now.

As much as I loved it, last year Disney had a practically absurd amount of LE Doll releases. It was pretty almost impossible to go a month without a doll release or a pre-order for a doll that would be coming out. I think this impacted the sales - some people simply could not afford it. I was very thankful to have been able to get all of last years releases, but not everyone could. This I think is part of what resulted in some of the dolls taking so long to sell out. I definitely wish there would have been a beginning of the year release - somewhere between January and March other than the surprise China Girl. I think it'd make sense to have one LE 17" regular edition release each quarter with one surprise doll, or something like that. We had 6 of the 17" dolls last year on top of the six designer villains - that's a hefty amount of money in a short period of time because of how close they were released. Maybe they should space some out to summer, because if I recall correctly all of the releases were generally Spring, Fall, and Winter.

+1 to a lot of what people here have been saying. (Especially Polaris)
My only additive to the mix is that there were some anniversaries for a few major movies. Snow White had an anniversary for which they released a classic doll of the Queen. (They stated so on the website's product page.) I personally would have preferred/LOVED a Wicked Queen LE.
(I swear...collecting these villains feels like such a gamble because my only two grails...they haven't been released and might not even be made!) O.0
Plus they bought back their share and/or all of "Who Framed Rodger Rabbit?" and it just so happened to have been its 25th Anniversary. Jessica has always had a huge fan following. Sure they are saving the anniversary festivities till April 4th(?), but I'm not giving up the hope that they'll possibly release something.
No matter what...Disney won't be able to win. They release a certain amount...it's too many for some. They release a different amount...it's too few for others. They use a new fabric...it's too cheap for some.
The Snow White doll came out what...6 years ago? Even though that one doll came out so long ago, the consecutive years were fairly regular, and last year had a ton...part of me feels that they are still trying to find the right formula.

I agree with the above, I'm one that's easy to please and usually very grateful when something comes out... I just appreciate what they've made :) maybe because as a doll artist myself, I know what goes into it so I can appreciate simplicity or gaudiness... ;)

Thanks for posting the link, Anna!!! I was recently able to view the movie, Brave; I loved it! How odd for the LE doll to be back on the website, but I hope my order goes through!!

Weird... I'm beginning to wonder how limited these dolls really are...? Why in the world are we seeing Merida again? 6 months later she's back..? I'm guessing they hold a certain number of them back in case of returns/exchanges, etc. and it's been sold out for so long, no more returns...time to sell the rest!

I think you are right jrsinger, this rerelease of stock would be a result of either stock held back just in case of returns, or because there are a specific limited number these could be the dolls that were returned that Disney replaced (created extra dolls to replace those with defaults or replace/fix the defaults on the returned stock).
