This doesn't make sense, you sell on eBay and are best buds with someone who only goes to new releases to flip pins.
Tell me how many pins have I sold on eBay? 5 since the beginning of the year for a whopping total profit of about $50 over my cost. Get your facts straight before you accuse someone troll! I rarely sell here and I rarely sell on eBay. 6 posts huh? I can see you add a lot of value to the forum.
FYI, I don't sell my pins right away, I don't flip pins the second I get them for cash. I don't presell. I don't offer to pick up pins and then in PM's ask for crazy high amounts. I hold onto my pins, even if the prices are falling, to try first to trade them. I have so many DSF releases from the past. I try to trade but the newbs just want to buy and sell and hardly ever trade which makes it hard for me to keep hording pins from every release. Eventually I, like everyone else, have to sell a few. And you weenies think it's ok to come and attack me in my BST ad? That is against the rules first, but also way off base. I still have a full set of Oz pins. Why? Why don't I dump them? I would rather trade. I trade at least 8 times a week on Pinpics. I have almost every PTD for trade from the last 4 months except a few I couldn't make it to on my own. I'm not flipping them. I'm not there pushing DSF to release Kevin. I never list a DSF pin within a week of buying it. I don't buy excessively beyond my 1 and a trader or two. I don't need to make money off pins for a living or to supplement my income. I do just fine.
Also, I assume you are referring to Killian when you say my "best bud." Killian is a friend yes. He resells yes. He pays people to stand in line to buy pins yes. But you know what else he does?
He TRADES!!! He has zero emotional attachment to pins, it's a business to him. So once you know how to trade with him you can get pins from him. I can take 3 pins that don't trade well but sell for $60 and get a $55 pin from him no problem. He is making $5 on the swap and I am getting a $55 pin for 3 pins when everyone else wants a single $70 pin in trade for it. I missed getting the Pascal pin trader delight and no one would trade one to me but Killian.
He is a resource I have to rely on for pins I cannot get because he is level headed and he trades fair. I wish more people would trade like he does, break it down to value. We both use eBay usually to value our pins and we agree on values very easily. So many people buy a pin for $15, it's selling on eBay for $50, but they want $65 in trade value for it, and usually won't let you piece together 3 or 4 pins. Heck, Killian will let you trade him 25 hidden mickeys for it, he doesn't care that it's Stitch, Rapunzel, Jessica. He cares about dollars. I commend him on his ability to stay true to his purpose.
He doesn't favor one person over the other. He doesn't hold pins for people who will never get that grail they say they will. He doesn't take his profit and then pay stupid amounts on eBay for pins and jack up their prices. He is smart with his money, as it is his only source of income, and he knows when to say "no" and how to be patient.
Killian also doesn't cheat the system to get pins. His "employees" stand in line just like everyone else. He doesn't cut. He doesn't lie to people. He doesn't show up, leave when you're not allowed to, and then return like others on this forum. He doesn't whine to DSF staff when his guys sleep in and miss their spot. He sucks it up and accepts his mistake. Does he buy a lot and sell a lot? yes. Does he get good info from CM friends? yes. He also shares some of that with me which I am thankful for. Did he buy 83 boxes of character connection pins? Yes, but there was no limit to them, he did nothing wrong in terms of the rules. I try to help him understand how that affects the rest of us and how now they limit it to 25 boxes, but he is still new and learning. He's no where near as bad as that website store in Florida that has 20 people at every release and whipes out entire stock of almost every decent release there. I haven't seen him ask tourists to go buy LE pins in the store for him. And I have also never seen him shark an unknowing person into letting go a very valuable pin. The profiteer himself won't take advantage of people. That is what you call character people.
Another thing he's good for is he doesn't presell! That's a huge no-no on both his and my list of not-to-do's. So many DPF members already selling the DSF BT's for April, or trading them, or offering them in the auction house, or making people hold grails for them in case they get them. I have serious issues with that. I don't know how that is even allowed honestly. People think some of these DPF'ers are so nice but they are often the ones cutting, lying, paying friends, dragging half asleep kids, etc. (I know, many of the kids want to be there, but some do not, everyone in line can tell which way the kid feels.) Those DPF'ers just aren't as open about making money at pins as he is. Killian is often the first or the only one to text me when a new PTD comes out. He values my advice and opinion. He's not my best bud, but he is more decent and less drama than many on this forum, including you sir. Enjoy that popcorn, don't choke on it. I hear popcorn is a natural colon cleanser, maybe it'll scrape you off on the way out.
Another thing you won't see me do is attack someone in the BST for their sales practices or their sale prices. I see someone trying to sell a Brave egg for more than you can buy it on eBay but I don't have to make a comment. My opinion on how to work the pin trading world may differ from yours and that is fine. But the difference is I share my opinion in the discussion threads in hopes that people will see my point of view and maybe even change their way of thinking because they agree with me. I don't have to agree with everyone all the time. JohnJay and I are a classic example where we completely differ on some points but totally agree on others. I am fine if you think asking $200 for a set of pins that can't be bought seperately for less is absolutely obsurd. Think whatever you want. Just remember, 3 strikes and your out.
That is unfortunate the thread went to this so quickly... pins are sold all the time both here on DPF and Ebay. Some are good prices, some aren't and it sometimes it depends on the person; one price may be suitable for one and too much for the other. This hobby has been and is getting more expensive and it seems like selling pins down the line is the norm to keep up with the hobby... sad, but true. I am doing the same w/ the DSF Jessicas and if ppl don't agree w/ my prices that's ok too; I can't force them to buy anything and who knows maybe my prices aren't good or the pins aren't popular. I both agree and disagree w/ prices on pins both here and Ebay, but I keep that to myself bc it is solely an opinion. (I'm not looking to get into the middle of this, just putting in my 2 cents bc this is common practice and there shouldn't be drama when this occurs otherwise this forum will be a hot mess 24/7 :/)
