Hey,

I tried to register for the Sept 13 event this evening, and it looks like the Friday event is already sold out.

Is that true? Why would Friday sell out but Saturday wouldn't?

Is it worth flying in to just do the Saturday event? I'm wondering if maybe I should just pass on the event this year. I mean, what's the point of showing up from out of state for just a single day?

Anybody know why (or if) Friday sold out in record time?

SOLD OUT?!?!?

Say-what.gif

Oh no!!!! DOES THIS MEAN ALL THE PINS AT THE EVENT ARE REALLY POPULAR? BECAUSE NOW I'M GOING NUTS OVER WANTS THE 2 PINS I WANT (mainly the 1 I want)...

Friday is also a special day at the parks as part of the limited time magic promotion. Magic Kingdom is open until 1 AM and there's supposed to be villain themed surprises. I think a lot of people were planning to be there for that anyways.

I did not get in on Friday at all. I am looking for anyone who is not really looking to go on Friday..I already found one for my wife..now I need one for me..I am willing to cover the cost of Friday and pay for you Saturday...I will also let you have the gifts from Friday as well...we are doing Saturday, but really wanted our 2 year old to see the villian meet n greet...my wife is in but I would really like to go as well..any help would be appreciated..Thank you, Chris

Don't remind me, please. Since I couldn't get a ticket for both days with access to the full RSP less than 2 hours after the event tickets went on sale (I think just the Saturday ticket with only part of the RSP offered is offensive and insulting, even though the price is reduced), I probably just won't go at all. It'll be too much of a hassle to drag my pins across the country for just one day of trading - and since I'm not going to the event, it'll be cheaper to just buy what I want from the RSP (that I couldn't get for myself anyway even if I did go just Saturday) on the secondary market and plan a trip to WDW during better weather.

Someone posted on the events forum that when they called event services they told them that the Friday event was very exclusive. I'm wondering how limited the crowd on Friday will be. From the past 6 events I have attended there has been on average between 1100 to 1400 people attending. I have never known anything to sell out except the breakfast and dessert options offered at the past events. Those were limited to to 450 people. So I'm wondering if Friday will be in the 500 persons range? That would explain why it sold out so quickly.

If there is something off the Vinyl RSP you want let me know- We have one full RSP not being used for Vinyl Day possibly two

Yeah, I was really (and am still) frustrated. I had a really bad allergic reaction to some medication yesterday and it ruined my day. I knew I was missing registration but had heard not to worry, that it never sells out. So, last night when I was finally feeling better and I went to register...... Oh well.

That was my guess exactly- that Friday was limited to 500 people, and Saturday is more open.

Kupo, I wouldn't assume that just because Friday sold out that the pins are automatically popular- the event usually gets somewhere between 1,000-1,500 people...them selling out Friday if they limited it that much is no surprise.

such a bummer, especially when they were not clear ahead of time that this would be the case. It is a bummer for some that want to go and live close but it is an isult for those who already planned their vacation for the year around this only trading event and now have to go or eat the tickets. With this only the second event since nov 2012 its just sad and frankly discouraging. I hope all those that were able to staly home from work or sneak off on a cmputer to register have a lovely time, ill c ya around down there and take lots of picS!

I did get in for Friday, but this was my line of thinking as well. I'm paying about 300 airfare, hotel stay would be worth 2000 but thanks to DVC will only cost me the value of the points so say about 400, 113 registration, Disney food for 6 days, and WDW admission or upgrade my DLR pass to a Premier, so say at least 250. There's over $1000 already and I haven't even bought a single item. All for the privelege of being there in person. It DOES make an awful lot of sense to just trade for or buy the items you want on the secondary market - it comes out a whole lot cheaper.

I actually got both friday and saturday :hsd: i have never been to a pin event and im excited to go now i hope i get picked for some of thei s i really want

I ordered the Potential Prospects and Final countdown pin. My friend on Saturday, ordered the potential prospects. If we both get it, I will cancel mine as she gets the AP discount. We are co oping 4 and 4, between us both, I'm sure we will get one set. :)

I'm kind of confused. Did they sell tickets for each individual day of the event rather than a package? I thought all of the pin events were a packaged event. I feel the need to double check about the Tiki Room event to make sure I'm going both days.

Yeah, it's the first time they've done this...and apparently, it's working. I've heard of quite a few people going both days (and some that would have, if Friday had allowed more people). Good for Disney, I guess- they got people to go from paying around $100 to almost $200 (and more, if they do Vinyls, too). We'll have to see if all the extras they get on Friday will be worth it for them.

If past experience with their food extras, like the dessert bar, and gift items are any indication, I think I'll be fine keeping my money. It might be worth it to some people, but overall, I'm usually not impressed with Disney's efforts to giving you "extras".

The one thing, from years past, I will MISS THE MOST is .... the DESSERT BUFFET !!!! LOVE that Disney chocolate :-) Sugar makes Tiggers bouce higher!! Will just have a buy a Disney cupcake while I am there - YUM!!
