2013 Fairytale Designer Collection
HAHAHA omg- I laughed so hard. that's brilliant. Fortunately I didn't have to deal with the online ordeal. Although at my own store I didn't luck out, my friend grabbed the one doll I wanted at her store, so I was very lucky :)

There are only two Disney Stores in Michigan, and one is an outlet. The other is very close to me, so I am blessed for that. However they didn't receive any of the Designer Princess merchandise. Not even the notecards! And for the Villains, they just got the makeup and stuff. No dolls. So I was not cursed in having to attempt to buy them in that way. But at the same time I kind of wish I could have experienced it! Lol. It was a nightmare all around it seems. The first doll I tried to buy was Mulan. I thought I would buy her when I got out of class that day, but to my dismay she was sold out. I was very upset, but decided to buy her second hand for a little over retail. For the final 5, I took school off to buy these dumb dolls online xD (my best friend and I were insane). I decided I would get Pocahontas and Rapunzel, and she was getting Jasmine. We sat there, in front of our laptops, counting down the minutes and tearing up paper. And then THAT happened (video is a perfect description). Needless to say, we were in tears (over dolls, so sad). She managed to get Jasmine (yay!) but I only got Tiana (she was the only one left by the time I got through, and now she is my favorite). A friend of mine who got one in person was kind enough to sell me Pocahontas for retail. She got in a fist fight over it!! It was insanity. Some guy tried to pull her back by grabbing her purse so she let him have it apparently. Insanity.

If my store doesn't get this next set, I will be very disappointed. :(

How do we even know the date they will be on Disney store? Do they announce at d23? Did they announce when they did the pins?

I believe in the case of the princesses the dates were announced and the line was revealed during the expo. Like people have mentioned here before you were only able to get the pins if you were at the expo. There were no other opportunities to get the pins or preorder the lot if you were not at the expo. Also I believe that if you preordered the lot at the dpi you got the lithographs? But I am not sure if that is correct but I do know that these were also exclusive to the expo. After the expo the dolls were released one by one for the first five weeks and them the final five on the 6th.

in the case of the villains as it was an off expo year they were announced online in July and the dates were revealed on the Disney store through a notice on the website. I believe the pins were released the same time as the online preorders for the lot of 6 dolls but these sold out in the US within a week or two I believe.

in this year's case I strongly believe that disney will release the dolls again during the expo or at least give you the opportunity to preorder them at the expo and I think once again the pins, the unique doll (in this years case the snow white set) and the lithographs will be exclusive to the expo but what I think they might do differently is release the line online for preorders as well this year which they didn't do during the 2011 princess line which wasn't really fair to those that could not go to the expo. I noticed last year (villains year) on the UK website disney did release the line for preorder as well which was unusual as they usually do not release pre orders.

I certainly hope that they don't make the majority of the non-doll, highly-sought after collectibles exclusive to the D23 only! Though it is true that the Designer Villains did not have a D23 Expo to be unveiled so it was a moot point for that collection, I am pretty sure that the people in charge of the merchandise releases know that not everyone can make it to the D23 Expo. It's "exclusive event" moves like that which contribute to the horrid eBay mess that plagues collections like these... I guess we'll have to wait and see!

That is a good point Shiva, which is why I'm sorta torn between the two. Whilst going to the expo will not guarantee that I get these items it gives me a higher probability of getting them if they were exclusive to the expo. Now I'm not saying that D23 should make everything exclusive to the expo but it would be nice to have something exclusive (which in this case I am assuming is the limited snow doll) just to reward those that were able to get there as like you said it is and exclusive event.

That being said in regards to the things like pins and lithos I do think that Disney should at least try to make it available to the public as well be it through a sale of a few on the Disney store or as a prize to a competition that way they still keep their exclusivity but still gave the public a chance at them. As like you said not everyone can make the event.

i am just hoping that Disney really enforces the one item each per customer to prevent scalpers from buying a bulk load then on selling them.

I think that it isn't a good thing considering the whole purpose of this line, but I'll still buy them if I like them though.

Hey all, according to Holly's Dolls blog https://www.facebook.com/HollysDollys, the DFDC dolls will be more film accurate and not as "designer" as past collections. I am personally disappointed if that is true, how do you feel?
I feel a little saddened. :/ Since I missed out on the two designer collections, I would have loved a different style of designer dolls and pins. But I'm sure whatever they've done is beautiful!!!

At the very least we should get some really high quality dolls, and just like Nightmaremermaid, I will try to buy them if I like them enough.

I'm sorry disneygirl333, I missed out on the first line and had to get my favorites on eBay. I was hoping they would do designer princess from a different era for those that were unsuccessful in the original madness.

I'll still wait to see the official images but worse comes to worse, I just won't get these haha xD I'm curious what they mean by "more realistic" I mean, were the original DP's not realistic? I thought in terms of designer dresses they were pretty accurate, I mean, it isn't like the dresses were crazy like some of the DV's were. IDK, I'm kind of confused now o_O I'll just have to wait to see them...

If they are really more "film accurate" then this would be my FAVORITE collection ever... really can't wait for leaked images.

I'll be bummed too if that's the case.

The only couple I wouldn't mind seeing done as more film accurate is Ariel and Eric, just because I would love accurate looking dolls of them with decent hair and face molds, and in a nice display case. I don't know which company made them, but the original fairly nice dolls that came out when the movie was first released (Eric; Ariel as a mermaid; Ariel in her pink dress with a soft body core) are the only ones I own from TLM, save for the Designer Ariel and Designer Ursula. I loved those dolls as a little girl, but even then I wished they had actually looked more like Ariel. The Eric one was a bit better.

Definitely would have no interest in the others though, unless they were out of this world fabulous. Too costly for me for just an upgraded version of their regular looks.

OnceUponADream did you own the Tyco TLM dolls? I had them too and I loved them! They made the best and most accurate outfits, including the nightgown, and pink dress with Sebastian on lettuce on a plate LOL

That would be a little of a let down, the point of a Designer line is that... it's Designer, something different than the character would normally wear. I like dolls that are very character accurate, but that kind of thing would be great for a line all its own.

Could you describe the mermaid doll? The pink dress soft body was made by Applause, the original release dolls were also made by Tyco. I still have mine, I was obsessed

ladyroselie I think they made cute outfits too :)

You know, if it is going to be more film accurate, then I think it would be really pretty if they did it like they were inspired by the Fantasmic! floats. All posed really pretty and lovey dovey...and just coated in *s*h*i*n*y*! :D
The only one that I might be interested in is the Belle+Beast combo. I really hope they break the mold and do him actually as the Beast. I'm pretty sure that I would just throw my money at them if it was actual Beast.

I am confused. This set is supposed to be called Disney Fairytale Designer Couples but they are going to be more movie accurate rather than designer? I don't know about this. So far this just sounds like a bunch of rumors. I am waiting for the official news from Disney Store or some pictures before I believe it.

Probably the wisest course of action :)

I really hope they are rumors, and the set includes Tiana/Naveen. My little sis needs a new pin to add to her collection :D Plus I hate when they exclude certain princesses from sets.

I don't know about pins but there are only 5 sets of dolls this year probably because of the price, Snow White, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Tangled. They may continue with the others next year depending on the success of these.

It's called Fairytale Designer Couples, not Designer Couples, so it needs some allusion to the story... so what's better than some movie inspired outfits with a twist? :p Plus DS can't seem to win people want more accurate outfits then people start complaining when they haven't even seen the designs :wat:

I'll want Ariel and Eric regardless :hsd:

No love for Sleeping Beauty? Oh, well.... I'll still want Snow White and Beauty and the Beast though, but granted BATB will probably be one of the most popular/harder to get ones.

I hope DS continue with it next year as it would be great to see Aurora and Phillip (as well as the others) to tie in with the re-release, fingers crossed! So combined, for 2013 it would already mean 10 Designer dolls.
