I have recently purchased this pin and it just came today.

Pinpics description says "She has a sprig of holly in her hair - the berries are a red jewel."

The picture on PP does not show a red jewel for berries, but I am guessing that it is the concept art.

Does anyone have this pin in their collection? If yes, can you please post a picture or let me know if there is indeed a red jewel for berries?

My pin came on original card and in its original baggies. I do not want to fuss, but I paid good $$ for it, so I would like for it to be in good shape. I would like to find it out for sure before contacting the seller.

Any help is appreciated & thanks for looking :)

Thank you Suzziesue. I have all others from this series and they all have their tiny jewels. So, probably this one should have it too. I just want to make sure before contacting my seller.

Jessica was in this series also and Yes there should be a red jewel in the holly. It's so small it's almost like they shouldn't have done it - however I do remember the original concept art for this series showed the pins were SUPPOSED to have the dresses totally covered in jewels - but they must have changed it to only the part in the hair for some reason.

These are the pictures from PinPics:

Even though they are tiny, the jewels are clearly visible for Belle & Cindy. I do not see any jewel for Ariel. How can they do this to an OCD collector ... LOL ...

See, I think a jewel is clearly visible in the Ariel. I just think it looks like a clear crystal, not red.

I remember starting a thread with this very question a LONG time ago (might have even been on DizPins forum). :)

I also have this pin and Ariel is missing the red jewel in her hair. I asked if this was a flaw with all of them (because the PinPics picture looked like she was missing the jewel as well) or if mine just so happened to be missing the jewel.

Someone replied that their Ariel DID have the jewel in her hair...so either...

-The jewels easily fall out and both of ours just so happen to be missing them.

OR

-Perhaps many of these pins didn't come with the jewel at all due to a manufacturing error, but according to at least one person a few years ago their pin did have the jewel...so maybe some came with the jewel and some didn't?

I have every pin in this series and they all feature one red jewel (except Ariel). I am personally inclined to believe that many of these pins simply did not come with the jewel because based on the PinPics pictures of the pins from this series they all clearly look like they have a red jewel except Ariel. And although the jewels on these pins are tiny, they seem pretty well-glued on and not loose or anything, so I don't know why so many Ariels would be missing jewels and not others from the series.

Also, my Princess Ball Jasmine is missing the jewel on her headband and it looks like there is some leftover glue residue from where the jewel was. My Holiday Dress Ariel looks like there was never any glue on it to begin with.

Hopefully someone else that has this pin can chime in, but that is my theory. :)

Becky!! Thank you so much!!

Mine does not have a glue residue either and I find it rather odd that the picture on PP does not show a red jewel, although the description clearly states so.

I am inclined towards this one:

So, it must be a manufacturing error.

Did you get yours directly from Disney?

Wow, this is a very interesting thread. This is one pin I do not have yet, though it's high on my wants list, so it good to hear that some people have the jewel and some do not. So if and when that day comes when I do have this pin hopefully I won't freak out too badly if I don't find a jewel, lol! Just out of curiosity though, since this thread has brought up a few examples with no jewel, do you think a note on the pinpics description might be warranted here? Or no, since we don't seem to be entirely sure if it was a manufacturing error or if the jewels just fell out?

I had this pin..was beautiful..but no jewle..but the weird thing was..it looking like a clear crystal in there
But deff not red

The plot thickens!

I think it might be a tad premature to warrant a PinPics change, but there are two other people trading this pin on PinPics with email addresses, so I just emailed both of them asking if their pins have the jewel or not...so hopefully they will respond. :)

If more people come forward with missing jewels I would definitely say a change to the description is warranted...but since only three of us can confirm that our pins are missing the jewel so far I wouldn't say that is enough to warrant our potential theory of a manufacturing defect as a DEFINITE answer...but it's definitely looking more like it. :)

pinpics was just updated and...

The definition of the pin mentions a "red jewel" but the picture of the pin shows a blank space or clear jewel.

My pin has no jewel in it. Can somebody who bought this pin from Disney confirm if the pin indeed comes with red jewel?[/TD]

One of the people trading this pin on PinPics also responded to my email and said that he purchased his pin from Disney and it did not come with a jewel.

So I think it is safe to say...

Some of these pins came directly from Disney with the red jewel, and some of these pins came directly from Disney without the red jewel. So if you happen to come across this pin and it is missing it's jewel it seems to be a common occurrence for this pin. :)

I meant to pop in sand say "Thank You" to everyone who helped with this. Beck, a special big THANKS for going out of your way to help with this. I did pay a lot, but it is such a rare and pretty pin; so, I decided to keep it jewel or not.

Happy hunting friends!
