Idea for Pin Trading in Disneyland

I somehow doubt Disney will be willing to set up 2 "official" trading locations. as I stated in my thread asking about DCA locations, i think disney might be willing to make 1 new official spot in DCA for us. If we all got together, picked a spot we thought was decent, and would be agreeable to Disney we could petition and write letters asking for an official spot. DCA is not as busy, has more spots that would be decent for us and have little reason for disney to decline.

Even at its busiest, during the summer that carsland opened, the area by Taste pilots and fly n buy had "elbow room" and would be a great official pin trader spot.
 
That's the thing. That is a great spot in DCA! Can even be the official one. But we could have a unofficial spot in Disneyland just whenever. It depends on how it works, I am saying this without even being there... Just based on video!

That's just ridiculous! Maybe the reason is because of the behavior of some of the pin sharks? Some guests might have found them too aggressive or made them uncomfortable? We absolutely should have our unofficial spots though.
 
So will anybody be at Disneyland tomorrow trading in an "unofficial" place? That is the only day I can go. I have to have my travel car back on Friday unfortunately. Since I only have one day, I am only going to Disneyland and not DCA.
 
Really? City hall said nowhere in either park? Really? Are/were sharks that big of a problem? For the last 6 years we've had annual passes and would go to dland 4-6x a year. I always found it a little odd that I'd see the same traders at the park no matter what day or time we went. Of these traders, I can honestly say that only a small few I'd avoid. The majority, I was happy to see and hoping that they would be there. Often the majority would warn me about the traders to avoid. I just don't understand how having a pin trading area (or two) hurts dland. Having an area helps promote something that they sell in almost every store at the park. I can understand the awkwardness of having someone go into a store to buy a pin to trade to someone at a trading table, but I've really only seen this with guests who want to trade for a pin...but they have no pins to trade. :)

and this is exactly why I said we need to have spots in both parks. for the locals, either park will do, but for us out of town peeps, sometimes we can only hit one park. usually, if we only can do one park, we pick DL. so a DCA-only official pin trading spot wont do any good.
 
So I say we have Fly n' buy as our DCA spot and the for Disneyland we have one of two choices. Option one is to all write Disney a letter asking about our old spot and maybe even starting a petition if push comes to shove. Or option two which is have another unofficial spot at Aladdin's oasis... Either one works for me but there really needs to be a decision. I say we try option one first and if need be I'll make the online petition but we start with the letters.

If anyone gets a chance to test out one of the places in the next week, try it then we could see if either worked then if not we refer to the other option with the letter and petition.

City hall also said pin traders were leaving trash behind @ the LGM pin trading location...If we get a new spot pick up your trash people...

That is crazy! We lost the spot because there were a few people who left their garbage behind... I really hate when good things get lost because of a few people making stupid chioces... I am sure we can find some soluition though!

please keep in mind that CM's will often say things that are not entirely true.
I remind everyone of instances where:
  • CM's told us that the trade spot in BTMR was the new permanent spot...
  • And when they said Westward Ho tables got removed because of fighting? (it was a fire lane and fire codes required that space be clear folks)
  • Oh and the time a CM told me that Cast lanyards would be gone totally soon. (that was 2010 btw)

While yes, on occasion I noticed a bit of trash of a cup left behind, it was far less that the amounts of trash guests leave behind in many other places around the park. I sincerely doubt "trash" was the reason they removed our spot.

The spot by LGM being used for the guest services currently makes sense. It's a tucked away corner with room for the cart, CM's and a small line. Currently, those GS carts are temporary. They may change the program given time. If they do, it might become our space again, or not. It might become a permanent kiosk after the holidays. I do not know. But they chose that spot for a reason, and they just don't care what we pin traders do in the interim.

I truely think it is time for a letter to be sent by each and every one of us. If having trade tables and an official spot is so important to us, surely we can take the time to write a real letter to the powers that be.

I am willing to hand deliver these letters to the Guest services office on main st if folks want to send them to me. And the more we get, the greater the impact will be. I am going to work on a thread specifically asking for letters. With names or titles for those whom should be addressed. Give me a few days to gather the info.
 
I agree it is time for the letters, once you make post a link in here and obviously post a link in yours back to here so they have an idea baout our discussions...

lol. I would like to say how surprised I am. But its always a few bad apples that mess it up for everyone.
