The painting is The Swing, which is what inspired the artwork in Tangled (and I guess Frozen?).
I really hope that's fan-made cover art. It's such an odd collage of promo images. We always see these fake covers before Disney movies come out now...

The painting is concept art for tangled I think, as the painting the swing by Jean-Honoré Fragonard was used as inspiration for tangled
! It's by Lisa Keene (I think) so it's just a little homage to tangled

Eew. After seeing the movie and all the promo pictures, these just look bad. The color scheme doesn't really speak to winter either. And I totally agree that the hair is not pretty or fitting, especially in black. I love the actual final designs. And the scene where she runs on the water and her pink coronation cape just flows so gloriously and amazingly...oh sweet baby Jesus! Perfection. If there was anything I'd have added to her, it would have been like one scene with her in an over sized, white fur cloak.

Agree 100%! I am far more pleased with the way Elsa's final look is. If she looked like either of these, I don't think I would have liked her anywhere near as much. I know it is a superficial judgement, but we are visual creatures! But in any case, you are so right that the black, red, and white is just so not "winter!" Like I said: I love me some Liza Minnelli, but that look would not have worked for Elsa.
The picture of her with the same hairdo but in white is better, but too much like Periwinkle in the Tinker Bell franchise. Elsa with longer hair in the braid is the best look for her!
Yep yep yep! If Elsa looked like either of these, I really don't think I'd have bought a doll of her (...unless she was the villain of course.) The final design, I love every detail. She could have been a total bore of a character...and I still probably would have bought her because she plays completely in to my aesthetic.

I am so glad they moved away from the spiky black hair. I can see an Ice Queen with dark hair if she is in pale blues and whites, but I can't see her with a short flame hairdo and not with those fiery reds. I am so much happier with her long icy blonde hair and all the blues.
As for the merchandise, do you think they will get most of it back in stock? I want to get a few Elsa things that are now sold out. The mug and her tiara. I'd think they would restock because the movie only JUST came out so it is normal for things to be moving off the shelfs quickly and should be restocked because the interest is at a peak.

It's so hard to tell with Disney Store merchandise. The first version of 12" LE Elsa doll will most likely show up again, as they will probably make a more simplified version around or after the DVD is release for the cheaper Classic doll price-point. The other merchandise is so hit-or-miss, but as RapunzelSalat mentioned, the film did just come out so the restocking of items hopefully will happen... The snow globe of all the items has the least chance of coming back, but you never know.
Fun fact from The Art of Frozen: in an abandoned sequence idea, Hans was supposed to give Anna a snow globe. What significance this was supposed to have in the film is anyone's guess!
I thought y'all might enjoy seeing my Christmas present for my 4 year-old step-daughter. I always pick one thing to be just from me and the rest is from Daddy and me.
It's a 1/2 size first act guitar. It's all plastic but not bad. I don't expect her to become a world glass musician on it but I hope it inspires her to love music! I'm changing the strings because I hear it really improves the sound and I want nylon strings instead of steel for the little monkey. It's super cute in person!

Yeah it would have been cool if when she had let her hair down, it was completely loose and blowing in the wind, even furthering the 'let it go' thing. She could have just braided it after.

Very true! That would have been the ultimate "let it go" moment for her to have completely loose hair at least for a few moments.

Well I finally broke down and bought myself both 17" singing dolls. I was hoping they'd go on sale but didn't want to chance missing out, so I snagged 'em! Just feel guilty spending so much on myself right before Christmas. But I can't wait for them to get here!!!!

Gosh we cannot keep frozen in stock in the Emporium! We are sold out of: Costumes, wigs, tiaras, both olaf plushes, sven plush, all dolls except toddler anna, snowflake wands etc etc etc

Yeah... Frozen is a hit. My store cannot keep anything in stock either. We had about 30+ of the classic dolls that are pacakaged together, and they sold out in less than two days... Same with the Elsa and Anna dresses... well, heck... same with most everything we have!!!!! (with the exception of the pink snow boots... its kinda hot here.

The UK store cannot keep Olaf in Stock!! I keep going on to see if he's there and be never is!! They also have sold out of the snow globe, 12" Anna, Sven and other stuff I can't remember! Hopefully cause it's such a success they'll start getting some of the US stuff in stock
