New Character Key Pins (PinPics)
Shenanigans!

Hey look Pin Pics has cornered the market on something and is jacking up the prices!!!! Who knew!!!

I wonder if they will get these graded and try to jack up the price more?

This is kinda like the pin bags that they released earlier this week. Sure I want to walk around with a bag with an ugly logo on it.

But that fugly bag is a nice 1/3 of the cost of the same size bag at DLR...so they'll sell no problem..

I think these are ugly, the ones that WDW is gonna release look wayyyy better. these look like cheap cartoons to me.

We have had a few questions elsewhere reqarding the price increacse to our Character Key pins. ACME Determines what the retail price will be not Pinpics.com. Considering the last Character Key Variants were the same price as just a character key print without the pins, actually made them quite a great deal!! Its reasonable to say the cost of such large, quality pins would eventually have to be increased, just as PODM increased from year one to year two,
We would like to thank all of you whom purchased these works of art and hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

I will SAY THIS ONCE: We Moderators have no issue with legit discussion about things in the pin world, which this is; as we realize there are differing thoughts on these items. However, any discussion will be RESPECTFUL of the topic in question as well as others' opinions on the matter. That means there will be no name calling, foul language, etc; and we will keep the thread going, as this is a valid topic of discussion.

That being said, and this being the only warning we will issue: Any further issues will be dealt with swiftly and by the post, not the entire thread, so if you make multiple posts we have to address, it will be multiple infractions!

Might as well give me an infraction now. I think they are shady, and damn sure hate doing business with them.

Sad thing is, the have a corner on the market of these and that really sucks.

A sentiment like that is not an issue, at least in my point of view. You have distinct feelings on this matter, and saying it just like that might be a tad harsh to some, but it is a polite way of expressing your opinion, by saying "I think". No name calling, no altering their name, no foul language, and it expresses a point: they right now have a corner on the market in some of the aspects of pin trading.

Even though they are big pins the quality control on these pins are ehhh to me. I don't know if pinpics has helped improve the quality or if they just don't care but when acme was selling these directly at D23 the quality of the actual pins was kinda horrible to be honest. I had a MATCHED set of Snow White and evil queen character keys and had to break the set up cause the pins had horrible streaks and scratches on the surface. I had to go through 10 keys.... 10! And was still unhappy with the pin quality. My friend was the same about maleficent and aurora but because he is a completist collector he had to settle for pins he was unhappy with.
So to be honest I would NOT buy these pins unless I can see them in person and be shown quality has improved.

I don't mind cartoon versions of live-action characters, but the Vader and Luke look more like the Playskool Heroes figures with exagerrated features, so they're not as visually-appealing to me.

I kinda like the style, it reminds me a little of the Cartoon Network Clone Wars series…

Now I am kinda worried about the quality of the pins, I guess I was a little lucky when my Snow and Queen showed up they were very good quality.

I am kinda surprised by Acme's decision to have the variant keys (the pins) to be a PinPics exclusive, especially with the Star Wars stuff. Not every Star Wars collector knows about pins or PinPics but would enjoy something like this (and there is no mention on the Acme site about being able to buy them on PinPics)….

If you haven't checked out Acme Archives you really should ;) they have all kinds of cool art and it's not just Disney stuff.
