2014 Designer Dolls - Fairytale Collection Part II

I just did a couple of quick comparisons online, and I actually find this phillip to be very movie accurate.
I think the reason why people think he's different is because of his slicked back hair. In the movie, he doesn't have it that way.
Either way, I think you should definitely get it, because I don't think you'll ever see another LE Briar Rose. And also keep in mind that these dolls always look much better in person. So honestly... I say get the set!

Cinderella's prince bothers me... The difference between the art and the actual doll is jarring....
I think the set would look better if Cinderella didn't have that sassy sultry look on her face. It just doesn't fit. It's like the prince is the geeky nerd who goes to prom with the most popular cheerleader in the school. :lol:

But the dress is just beyond comparable to anything that Disney has put out (12" dolls). And I'm glad that she didn't get a very stylized necklace. The one she has on now is perfect.

I agree with everything you said. Facially I think he's very good, he looks slightly more realistic and 3d than his 2d drawing as to be expected but he looks very close to his movie look. He's very handsome and I love his outfit. I think his hair is what makes him look different but it is very nice and fits the theme. Overall he is my favourite Prince of this collection. And I agree I doubt we will see another LE Briar rose. I personally love this set and I'm sure will be even more stunning in person.

I like the Cinderella set her dress is amazing! But I agree with what you said about her prince he looks like the geek with the prom queen. Tiana is my least favourite set tbh.

Hmmm...note cards? I may have to get those. . Anyone know how much they cost last time and how many notecards to a box there were? The Briar Rose shirt is tempting too. Far too many choices, not near enough money.

I'm trying to remember how much they were. I ordered the 2011 set and last year's set and you get 20 cards in them- so you'll get 4 of each princess this year (which is lots). I prefer the cards to the lithographs personally because they're a bit smaller and you can cut off the front art set and arrange them all into one larger frame. The lithographs take up too much room imo. Also I just looked up my order history and the cards were $14.95 so I'm assuming they'll be the same price this year

The cards will be $14.95 unless Disney raised the price. The note cards for the designer set & art of ariel collection were both $14.95 last year.

Good to know, I forgot that art of Ariel released cards too (I only got a mug from that collection), but if other note card sets are retailing for $14.95 then that's some consistency. I think if they left the price of the dolls as they were then we shouldn't really see an increase in the merchandise prices

I was going to try to get the Cinderella set, but then when I looked at closer pictures online, and actually stared at the picture, I realized that. . It's really a shame, because her dress is gorgeous. I've seen other LE dolls that have the crazy long eyelashes, but they didn't have this, like, I don't know, 'come hither' look or something. I think it might have something to do with the way her eyes are positioned. Anyways, I think I'll just get the mug and maybe the journal, instead, since I think I like the concept art for the Cinderella set much better than the actual dolls. Sigh. . At least I'll still be able to enjoy her gorgeous dress, and she has a sweet look on her face in the concept art.

you know, to be completely honest... I really dislike Cinderella. She's one of the most least interesting Disney princesses and Disney is just pimping (Excuse my language) her as the mascot of the line. She is definitely in my bottom 3 princesses. With that being said, I would definitely without a doubt purchase this doll set just because of the dress. I don't think you'll ever find a better version of her dress on any doll. So while her expression might ruin it for you, don't forget just how stunning and accurate her dress turned out to be, especially when compared to the other 9 dolls of this series.

Also, It might just be the angle. You never know..

I'm a bit upset that the set with all dolls is North America exlusive

Just my luck but I will be travelling on the 23rd of Sept from US back to Switzerland on the 24th.

In US it will only be in the store but I don't really want to buy it there and take it all the way back home.......
In Europe it will be online from the 23rd on but I'm not sure if I can log on that date from USA haha...

So I just hope Tiana won't be sold out in Europe in the first two days cause I really wanna get her

Does anyone remember how fast the couples last year sold out in UK/Germany?

Last year the first couple took a month to sell out and Aladdin also took ages! Belle and Ariel were quick to sell out though!

To be honest, I'm not sure if we can compare this set to the set of last year. True these are less popular characters, but the whole doll hype (especially scalpers wanting them) has gone up a lot. Just look how fast Aurora sold out compared to previous 17" dolls.
The dolls used to last days, but now they last minutes.
I would not count on Tiana being available for two days - not even a whole day.

Does anyone remember if the lithographs sold out quickly online last year? I know my Disney Store got them last year but I don't want to chance it and not be able to get them. I really love the artwork in this collection.

I agree. I think the dolls will sell a lot quicker this year as there are more collectors and unfortunately more scalpers! :-(

That is true! . I figure if I see someone else who got her, and they have in-person pictures and I like her face, I'll be kicking myself for not buying the set initially. And of course, if the set came and I still didn't like her face, I could always just ignore it and concentrate on the gorgeous dress (like you said ), and if it bothers me that much, I could trade or sell the set. I would just really hate to find out afterwards I'd have no problem with the face, and then have to pay $500 on ebay or something.

all of this reminds me of last year. I didn't know about the Fairytale collection. I walked on into my Disney store to go see some Ariel stuff (Still kicking myself for buying 0 Art of Ariel stuff!!), and I saw Snow White and Prince on display. I looked at it, fell in love with it. This was late in the day, I asked if they had any left and they had 1 left. So I thought, sure lets do it. I got in line to purchase but then I thought "ah.. 130$ Is quite a lot to spend and I don't have a job.."

WRONG CHOICE, ORCHESTRAL.

Now it's going to be that I'll be there an hour before opening!

I'm not expecting them to stay online for days, especially not the more popular ones of this set, however I don't think it's going to be really tough to get any one either. I know Frozen has made people rush for dolls and most likely driven a larger amount of scalpers to the scene, but there should be plenty of time for everybody who wants one and is prepared to purchase. I was hanging around for the LE Aurora and I had plenty of opportunities to get her (I didn't because I was only observing), and even after she "sold out" she came back online for a little while. Also, the 17" LE heirloom line is much more popular than the DFDC line so I wouldn't worry too much about getting the doll you want. Just plan ahead and be prepared.

It's just not fair to others who are actually determined to get a doll. Please don't depend on eventually selling the doll or trading the doll for someone else. And this isn't directed towards you at all. I'm just letting it out.
I believe that if you like the character, then that should be an automatic for you to want her. Especially Briar rose. I know a lot of people who hate aurora but love briar rose. So I would base my decisions on how connected I am with the characters. Also, if the doll looks good, then go and get her!

Cinderella and Mulan are SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL!

I hope i will be able to get my beloved Pocahontas, Cinderella and Mulan. Probably Briar Rose, too. October will be so damn expensive. Disney Store what are you thinking? I will be broke if i can mange to get them. Would be nice to pick up Tiana as well but since they are so expensive i can only afford the ones i really love.

My only problem with Mulan is the face and the hair. The hair is just way too long. But like Cinderella, this is the closest fans will get to a movie accurate representation of the dress. I'm glad that they included the really long sleeves. She's missing the umbrella though.

What REALLY annoys me is when people purposely get on there and buy as many sets as possible for the express purpose of reselling them at insanely high prices. :sad: But anyways, I am about 95% sure I want the set, since I really would hate to pass it up. . Plus, Cinderella is one of my favorite princesses, so there's that too.

I don't have a problem with people doing that. I've been iffy a few times on certain dolls but was able to make adjustments or just ended up liking them in person. For example, I was really iffy on the DFDC Snow White- I was never much of a Snow White fan and I didn't like her braid. I was going to order Rapunzel and decided if SW was still available when Rapunzel came online, then I'd just order the two of them together. When I got SW home, I pulled out the braid and I love her now, she's so pretty! And DFDC Belle I was iffy with too- I loved Belle growing up and I liked the doll except for the weird half ruffles on her dress. Got her and I don't even notice the ruffles now because I like the doll so much. I think if you're unsure about a doll, you should go ahead and get it because if you regret it then you're going to pay a lot more on the secondary market to obtain it. If you decide you don't want her, I figure it's not hard to find a collector who'd buy it off of you, and you can sell it for what you paid for it if you would feel guilty about making a profit.

I heard people say that they would buy multiple Auroras so that they can sell them on eBay and then use the money to buy their precious Elsa. That is so unfair.

See, there's a thin gray line when it comes to these Designer dolls. With the LE17 dolls, you know what your getting. But with these designer dolls you have to pay attention to the details when you get the actual product.
But hey, if the doll was available for over a week, then it's safe to assume that anyone who wanted the doll, ended up getting her.
Really glad that you don't regret them though.

well, the 17" Belle's hair is way too long as well (compared to her movie design, though her later updated design she seems to have longer hair as well) - seems like disney prefers to give their dolls too much hair.
To be true to the match maker outfit, Mulan's hair should actually been in a bun in my opinion.

These dolls are so tempting! I think they look better than alot of the 17inch ones. Didn't get any last year as I only wanted Aurora and Phillip. But seeing Cinderella's dress and Mulan I'm wanting to get them. I'm not a fan of Mulan but she does look amazing in this doll!

I'm not a doll collector but I keep coming back to this post and staring at Mulan. That set is beautiful. I like the dress but more than anything I like that Shang's face actually looks a lot like Shang! I don't feel like they've taken too many liberties with him. Usually I feel that all male dolls are just bland generic Ken replicas. I wonder how I could justify this purchase to my family... >: ]

Luna_Ray - heehee, glad there are others out there like moi. . Glad you ended up liking Snow White and Belle. Yeah, I am just so afraid if I don't get the set, I'm going to really regret it. Besides, if I don't like the set, I would probably sell it for about what I paid for it; I'm sure it would make another collector really happy.
