PTD Discussion Thread
DSSH may be putting the PTS pins on hold, because they are having the same supply/shipping problems that the Disney parks have been experiencing. The cyclones off the China coast and the two recent hurricanes near Hawaii were disruptive on shipping schedules. 20,000 West Coast dockworkers have been working since last May without a valid labor contract. Work slowdowns are a valid labor tactic to use to speed up contract negotiations. It does mean that we, consumers, may not get our foreign goods (Disney pins) in a timely manner.

I'm trying to remember if they stopped PTDs last year around this time. I remember going the first weekend in December but I think we just did the Toys for Tots, not any PTDs

Looking at Pinpics listings, they didn't stop. But Oogie Boogie was released on Dec 7th and didn't sell out until Dec 27th. So it may have felt like they stopped, because he hung around so long.

It's going to feel weird not seeing any PTD updates for a while! Even though I don't collect PTDs as a whole, I enjoy seeing the new releases as I never know which ones I will be wanting myself! Are the last ones for the year all sold out now?

Yep. DSSH posted this on their Facebook page on Monday:

As of yesterday, we have sold out of our last Pin Trader Delight Pin Set for 2014. Check back in January to find out when the Pin Trader Delight Sundae will be returning.

Nope, the only thing we know is that they'll announce something in January.

I hope they keep the multiple at once format. If only because then it makes my trips out there more worth it. Also, unless it's an Elsa or someone from Up, they last a good while so I have a chance at getting them.

IDK, I have my doubts about the four in one release. The PTD have turned into some "let's flip them as fast as we can" game and it's really hard to keep up with them if you can't access the store. It's actually really chaotic imo, especially on Facebook. Undercutting, selling as fast as possible, no one that wants to trade, etc.

I do enjoy the variety in characters and pins, because one PTD was starting to get boring. Especially if it was one that didn't sell out for about a week or more.

If the Buyers would stop buying, the Sellers would either have to stop buying or start trading.

I kind of like the 4 pin release at a time but I'm also grateful for the break ... There are quite a few PTD's for trade Here

The "Let's flip it as fast as we can!" game started before the four in one/two per day. People would camp out at DSF ALL DAY when it was one at a time but as many different styles as you wanted in a day. It's just a bit more pronounced now. It's actually been easier to keep up with when it's four at a time because you have to wait for all four to sell out for it to change rather than just one. So the sets last for a few days, rather than multiple pin flips per day (except for the times when it was a Muppets or Chicken Little or high LE unpopular random like Honest John).

My new year's resolution: hiking up the giant hill in Griffith Park to offset the ice cream... :)

(My husband isn't impressed hahaha!)

in order to post in the marketplace you need to have at least 30 posts. It is not hard to do. Just talk about whatt you collect, etc.

Are there any left in the store? Thanks!

PTD's? ... No

This was posted on the DSSH Facebook page Dec 8th.

There is a problem with that for those of us that live nowhere near a park or other outlet for pins. If I wanted a pin, I'd have to buy something as a trader here on dpf/facebook/ebay and then try and trade for it or (and this makes more sense to me) just buy the pin I want outright.

That is indeed the problem. I'm always torn inside between wanting to trade (it's so much fun), and the reality that buying from sellers outright costs less time and money in the end for people like us. I still believe a lot of this would be helped if there were more available LE releases to purchase online within the US. Yes, I know there's an argument about bots and such making it unfair, but right now we have almost zero chance of obtaining good traders directly from a Disney store. At least if they had some, there would be a chance. I don't think the random secret releases on Monday mornings (or whenever they are) cut it either.

Living so far away from everything and also being in the US, it's really just a money sink. An enjoyable one though.
