DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion

Does anyone know if there is something I can do about this?

First off, congrats! My intense love for the movie makes me regret not trying for her.

You should contact Disney Store. I'm sure they'll compensate you. Either call their customer service # or email them. I prefer phone. Those are pretty serious scratches for a $500 doll!!!!!

Enjoy her. She's very beautiful :)

Does anyone know if there is something I can do about this? Scratch 1 picture, scratch 2

It looks like a soft plastic scratch remover could work for this application. I've used brands such as Meguiars and Novus to remove fine scratches on acrylic and other plastic based surfaces on both the interior and exterior of my cars. This may be something you could look into. If you do go this route, be sure to test whatever product you have on a surface similar to the soft plastic coverings on these dolls.

Otherwise it's a fantastic piece you have there! The scratches don't look that bad at all from your photos - coulda been worse right? =P

Just saw on Facebook that wedding Cinderella arrived for someone and there was no double-boxing! Just the same standard brown single lonesome box :(

Good grief! $500 for a doll and Disney can't even put the thing in an extra box with packing? The DS gets so many complaints about damaged shipping and still they never change a thing. SMH.

Thanks for the suggestions, Quasimodo and JPM3. I sent DisneyStore an email, but I'm not expecting much. I am truly just happy I was able to get her at all. The scratches aren't deep at all. I've been given a few suggestions on things I can try, so I'll let you guys know if I have any success. :)

I'll also take more pictures of her tomorrow once I have my camera back. I can only take pictures with my cracked cell phone camera right now, hahaha.

My wedding Cindy arrived! She's 068/500. Lowest number I have! Good news and bad news. Good news is that despite no double boxing, the outer box of the doll arrived in perfect condition. Bad news, the clear plastic cover has scratches on it. The plastic was protected with tissue paper, so these had to have happened before packaging. Does anyone know if there is something I can do about this? Scratch 1 picture, scratch 2

It's kind of annoying, but honestly I'm just happy I got her. She's so incredibly gorgeous! And her box is gigantic.

Congratulations! She looks beautiful. Sorry to hear about the scratches. Is it the same kind of plastic as on the other 17" dolls?

She is absolutely stunning in person. I'm just sitting here staring at her. The scratches are a bummer, but not the end of the world for me. As far as I can tell, the plastic is exactly the same as what is used for the other 17" dolls.

I just wanted to share a pic of how Cinderella might've looked without that oily face. I restyled mine and removed the shimmer. She's still in progress, but I'm not ashamed to show her... Even if she didn't turn out the way I envisioned.

I really hope Disney's done with this shiny crap. It ruins the look of the dolls and isn't easy to remove.

Wow, your work is so beautiful! She looks stunning. :D

hey, thanks for the heads-up! omg lol, i don't even know if i want them anymore. i kind of just set my eyes on the limited edition cindy and was like "you are all that i need". hahaha!

i will go eventually to toys r us and check them out. i really love mattel's packaging but the doll itself is not as glamorous to me anymore. i also don't have a lot of room and i want to be really selective with what i buy so i don't regret it in a day of just staring at something and then being like "k, done".

which reminds me, have you heard anything about the ihome carriage speaker? :c i commented in the cinderella thread but no one heard anything about it. that's like the last thing i want from this line, apart from the expensives i either can't afford or don't particularly want.

For sure :) I think if you have an LE doll then no point in getting the Mattel versions. I didn't bother with the LEs so I'm just gonna pick up a Mattel version to keep. I also don't have a lot of room for displaying dolls so I preferred the smaller Mattel version to the 17" LE version.

I'm not sure about the ihome stuff (I'm not even sure where it would be sold). It's super pretty though- that carriage! I don't really own Apple products, but I want it anyway lol. I'll keep an eye out at Best Buy, and I'm possibly moving soon to a city with an Apple store (I think there's one, I'll have to double check), so I'll check in there as well if that follows through.

Cindy arrived today...wow, so fast considering my other super slow problem. The shimmer does not bother me...If left in her box she is running down the stairs right? Stress of beating the clock striking 12. It's moonlight meets perspiration ;)

So glad you got your Cindy. Congrats!

yeah that makes sense! i really love her dress though, so i'll see. i don't really have too much time to go. i was thinking maybe picking up the mattel wedding one but the dress is nicer on the disney store version. i might just abandon the idea and go for the mac cinderella stuff. i really want a compact. i like the packaging.

i think they mentioned toys r us and amazon. i couldn't find them anywhere online though. :c

oh good luck with the possible move! c:

My Cinderella arrived and left through customs yesterday so she should arrive tonight. Will have to move maleficent to display her as only have space for two dolls to display at the moment

Oh Disney Store...will you ever learn? LOL

You would THINK they would take just a little extra care with a $500 doll...but honestly I'm not surprised.

Congrats! She is gorgeous and I cannot wait to get mine tomorrow! :)

I am so sorry to hear about the scratches. :( A $500 doll should be practically perfect...but Disney Store quality control is terrible. I have been ordering various things from them since 2008 and it seems not much has changed. Luckily they don't look too bad and hopefully you can't really see them unless you are looking for them. I do wonder if they held any of these dolls back for replacements, or if one arrives damaged you are just out of luck? I would much rather have a few scratches than a crushed box or something like that, but it is disheartening that there are any flaws at all on such an expensive doll.

My Blue Cinderella arrived about an hour ago and she is beautiful! I am super happy that her box is pretty similar to the other 17" dolls so she won't look strange displayed next to them. I love her ball gown and her glass slipper in the background, although her curls are kind-of covering it at the moment. I also think her shiny skin looks much better than the recent Frozen dolls (which didn't necessarily bother me either, but I think it translates better on Cinderella). I am really loving this doll and am now even more nervous/excited to see Wedding Cinderella in person tomorrow! :)

since i missed out on a grail snow globe, i am legit contemplating just putting that money towards a wedding cinderella (the 12" disney one) and making her into a smaller version of the limited edition one. repainting some of the flowers with fabric paint, gluing some jewels, etc.

also so stoked that disneylimitededitiondolls on tumblr re-blogged my cindy photo. that was really cool, since i'm on that blog a lot now.

My sister is most likely doing this for me since I'm so bummed about not getting wedding Cindy and won't pay the ridiculous eBay prices. I got a 12" cheap off of eBay from someone who only wanted the prince. You guys should compare to see what works when making

There is someone on FB who is trying to get people to all go in on a hand made wedding dress (made by a seamstress) for the 17" doll (in case you bought an extra 17" ballgown doll). Obviously, you'd have to restyle the hair, etc.

Do a search for this person's name: Christopher Cabrera-Vasquez on Limited Eddition Disney Designer Dolls (yes, the mis-spelled one). The dress is costly ($312) but it's an idea?

Disneystore wants to replace my Wedding Cinderella doll, which tells me that they did keep some for exchanges. I don't know how I feel about this. I feel like worse things could happen if I send her back. :(

I think a good deal is done by hand, as opposed to an assembly machine. At least that's the case with most vinyl dolls. I'm sure they use various machines, but I believe they are hand operated and there's a lot of hand assembly and detailing. It's just done in a country that pays theirs workers much less than most of the rest of the world buying the dolls (otherwise we would be paying over $500 for these dolls). Also, you have the pre-production work and cost. There's a really good video on Youtube from last summer about the design creation process on Sleeping Beauty LE. As a doll geek and general art lover, I really enjoyed it (but I watch all the Tonner doll videos too): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6HbLtpg9WE Another good video on the creation process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXdk2R21_Hs

There are actually a lot interesting videos on YouTube about the doll making process. There's just not a lot out there on specific lines.

Thanks LMB925 for posting those links! Those are great videos. I think much more is done by hand than I realized.

Congrats! beautiful and exquisite! I don't think scratches would bother you much since she is such gorgeous!

My grail Anna just arrived today almost the same time as Kristoff. It just makes today a perfect day for me! A wonderful day! And only Q215 Elsa is waiting for custom clearance now.

I'll let Anna stand in my office. Every time I feel tired, I'll just look at her and it would make me feel much better immediately.

That's a really tough call. If you return it you might end up with something wrong with the new doll or it could get lost or severely damaged in the post. But for the amount you paid, you deserve something in perfect condition.

Disney should make extras of their plastic covers with every doll release to ship out to anyone who needs it. The covers are the easiest part to get damaged and should be the easiest and cheapest thing to replace. They aren't numbered like the doll. I'd think it would save them money to be able to send out a new cover rather than to have to replace or accept the return of a good doll with a bad cover.

Oh so beautiful! I'm so envious of your Coronation Anna!!! I want her! Which Elsa are you waiting on--the new one or one of the older ones?

I am waiting on the Q215 Elsa, the new one. I want a SQ Elsa but is beyond my reach now.

I think you'd better not send her back for a replacement if she is in perfect condition except some scratches on the cover. The box may be better but who knows how the new doll's condition would be? I personally care much about doll's condition rather than the BOX.

I agree with cxn4689. I mean, if you said it doesn't really bother you to much, then I would just keep it and not risk sending it back. Its such a beautiful doll, I would hate to see it get lost, or the replacement that is sent be in even worse condition :(
