2018 Pin Releases
I'm not going to comment on what people pay for pins, because I'm saving it all for a PhD in human psychology. :p

But with regard to Cheshire latte and Mickey donut (a nice snack, I must say) ... those were first - in - series pins. And I think some folks bypass those because "I'm only going to collect the characters I want" or what have you. And then a few releases in, the series just strikes a chord and people decide to retroactively collect the whole thing -- but now they have to backtrack and find the (probably sold out by that point) original.

That's just my speculation about these 2 particular pins. Also, because we are so cool and knowledgeable, I think we underestimate how many people DON'T know about new releases, and then those people see one of the pins somewhere and ask about it and then scramble to find others.

All of which brings about panic. See opening comment re: human nature. :D

This reminds me of the Beloved Tales Series....

For those who buy Acme/Pinopolis pins, I just received this email:

Price Increase Announcement
April 6, 2018

Dear valued Pinopolis Pin Game Customers,

We wanted to inform you that we are having a price increase that will take effect April 16th, 2018. All pre-orders April 15th and prior will not be subject to the price increase (including "Fantastic Lands" LE 100, "Classic Cutout" LE 500, "Princess Profiles" LE 300 and more).

As you may already know we are in a transition period as we phase out our pre-order process and shift to fulfilling orders immediately, or having exclusive releases that you will be able to purchase directly at your local pin master. We appreciate your loyal patronage. We assure you that this small increase will facilitate the ease of production moving forward so you can have the pins you love, with little or no wait.

Thank you again for your loyalty and patience! We love our customers and we look forward to bringing you many more stellar releases!

Sincerely,

The Team at Pinopolispingame.com

Yes, **sigh**... thought they were already expensive enough. :(

I saw via Instagram that there is a new CM exclusive Bug's Land 15th Anniversary pin, LE 500 (sorry I don't have the pic to share). Seems kinda sadistic to give that a pin since it's closing this summer :P

I'm just glad they're moving to not doing pre-orders. I've been waiting on that Genie pin since September.......

Like, I get this is a big production and takes time. But 7 months is a little silly......

Hopefully it'll go more smoothly with only in-hand sales.

Agreed... Pushing out a month or two maybe, but multiple series being pushed out multiple times... it is... ummm... yes, silly. When the early releases get delayed it would seem later releases would be posted with a more realistic timeline... kind of a lesson learned process.

Their whole process has made me really glad that I don't collect the majority of things they release, and of the things that I *do* collect (well, thing, since I think the only ACE pins for my collections have been Lion King) none have been NEED to haves. But we'll see how things go once they switch to only selling things in-hand.

I’m waitong on several as well.

Did a co-op with some IG folks for the little mermaid set (I’m getting Ariel), the Elsa pin, the taste of royalty Aurora, the Maleficent cut out; and maybe another Ariel pin. I’ve lost track it’s been so long.

I’m not impressed with their turn around, especially since I’ve seen fantasy pin creators turn pins around in 2-3 months. I wonder if it’s the same factory that allegedly moved.

I'm sure since it's officially licensed by Disney, there a longer approval process and procedure. Huzzah bureaucracy.

But still. More than half a year?? (when they already have my money....)

That’s what I’m getting at. 6 months is ridiculous. They know those pins will sell, so they should have been proofed and in production before they were on sale.

And I know bureaucracy. I’m part of a big one!

I found a listing on eBay for a good deal on some Hong Kong Pins that were released recently. I don’t see a Deals thread anywhere on the forum, so not sure if I can post a link here or where would be the best place to put it. It’s like $40 for the random 5 Pack, when people are usually selling them for $20 each. Just don’t want someone to miss out. lol

Heads up to anyone buying pins from other people on facebook and such:
Check the Shop Disney Parks app and the Disney Store website before you buy something that's new-ish. I've been seeing a lot of things posted for sale lately for 2x or more what the original cost is and they're still available on the app and/or the website.

Shop smart!
