2013 Fairytale Designer Collection
Two weeks is faster than some sets but is still a good run. I hope Rapunzel and the rest of the sets have "long" runs like Snow White.

The Snow White and Prince Charming couple is officially SOLD OUT on disneystore.com US site! Took 2 weeks but they are finally sold out! :wavey:

Oh dear... I was wondering how long it would take for them to sell out. Of course, we may see them pop up every now and again as we have seen with other dolls in the past, but 2 weeks is consistent with how long it took the 2011 Designer Cinderella doll to sell out online, and both are the first in their collections. Let's hope that it does not go crazy from here. I am sure that DFDC Rapunzel and Flynn will probably sell out a bit faster than DFDC Snow White and the Prince.

I can see all the sets selling faster simply because people seem to like Snow's set the least. But I sure hope it doesn't go crazy. We still have Snows and Rapunzels at my store.

In comapring the selling speeds of both sets, what was the edition size of the first Snow White? I've never had any interest in the couture line, so I don't even know.

As an aside, a new DS location opened up near my work this week, and they had both Designer sets for sale--and some Ariel LE 17" dolls for presale. How is that even allowed? The Ariel, not the designer dolls. Hm, maybe I should've asked this in the LE thread...

What I can think of in regards to those Ariel presales is that they knew they were opening that store soon and set them aside for them? I would love to get another Ariel. She's puuuurdy =)

I think they will progressively sell out faster. It's like a mob mentality or a snowball effect. Once people see that Snow is gone they will grab Rapunzel "afraid" that they will miss her (some might miss her if they are waiting to buy her until they have the money ready). After that resellers and collectors are going to start grabbing them as fast as they can whether they really wanted them or not. I have fun watching it happen. Of course that is after I have safely purchased my own set.

Of course I do not think it's funny when true collectors miss out. It's just the mob effect that is entertaining. I can imagine the resellers with like 20 Mother Gothel Dolls from last year just kicking themselves because they sell for much less than retail.

I just called all 4 of my local DSs and they confirmed that none of them had enough dolls for the people who showed up, so they sold out right away. Between all 4 stores, there were over 60 dolls. To compare against Snow, the fewest any store had left after her release was 4. Most had about 10 and one store had THIRTY left at the end of the day.

I guess Snow's not very popular. It's probably going to be a witch hunt trying to get Ariel and Eric. Rapunzel's also popular, though, right? I assumed she would sell pretty fast.

The 2011 Designer Snow White doll was also LE 6000. She sold out at record speed back then, because there was an apparent glitch in the online ordering system that did not limit the number of dolls per order as it should have been (it was limit 2 dolls per order at that time). So, yeah, a lot of sharks seem to have gobbled up a lot of the Designer Snow White dolls, which is reflective in her still relatively-low reselling price on ebay. A few factors that may have affected DFDC Snow White & The Prince's non-instant sell-out probably include: DFDC Snow White's braid does not appeal to the consumer, More people may be after the D23 Expo exclusive version, The price of the doll, among other reasons. I consider a sell out in two weeks to still be very successful for a higher-priced collectible at LE 6000. The retail stores still having stock in the USA may be due to bad projections of the target consumers in any given area or just that the remaining dolls may have glaring quality issues (and there seems to be quite a few of those out there).

As for the new location having 17" LE Ariel doll pre-orders, there may have been online order cancellations since the online sell-out, which opens the opportunity for there to be an allocation of dolls to that site. Also, I am sure that even when DS.com "sells out" they still keep some stock back to deal with quality control complaints (re: 17" LE Cinderella's shoes-DS customer service often offered a doll swap first for reported dolls with stained shoes even though 17" LE Cinderella was technically sold out).

I am sadly hoping that some of the dolls in store, eventually get clearanced and shipped to the outlets. I want more of these dolls, but can't afford them. :x

Snow White has officially Sold Out at the US Disney Store Website. For those of you wanting Rapunzel, be sure to get her before she sells out. She will definitely sell out quicker than Snow. Good luck to all!

I really hope that if they continue the Fairytale Designer collection (I'd be surprised if they didn't) they will do a "Frozen" couple.

I was really surprised that Rapunzel/Flynn didn't sell faster....there were more Rapunzel's left than Snow down here -- odd. We have kind of started a little ritual on those Tuesdays; get off work, confirm the store has at least 2 left, then drive an hour and a half to get one!

Thanks yeah, I looked for it on eBay.....but I refuse to pay outrageous prices to the sellers. I don't even remember disney store releasing that maybe the store I go to, never sold it.....

It's incredible how resellers even want to make a profit of the Freebies, such as the Brochures and the Gift bags. How pathetic! I really hope no one buys stuff like these from them!

Btw, I think it's safe to say that the Purchase of the entire collection will go smoothly! As long as you buy your dolls on the day of its release, you shouldn't have any problems. Belle & Beast and Ariel & Eric could probably sell within 2 or 3 days like LE Ariel, but again, if you buy them on its release day, everything should be fine.

@Shivatopia I totally agree on you with your Snow White Couple dolls theory. I think the price is a big hurdle for many to proceed and buy a set. Perhaps that's why Disney decided to go safe and make them 6,000 each.

And I have to wait until October to get my full set from DS.com

I don't think that these dolls will go on clearance at any outlet, do you?

I would guess not. I thought that if Snow and the Prince stuck around long enough, then they would go on sale on the website at least. But it looks like they are gone. None of the villains ever showed up at my outlet, but we did get the makeup, and wallets.

Personally I doubt they will go on clearance or be seen at an outlet. Some speculated that because Snow was being highly criticized that she would end up on sale and she sold out. I doubt that will be the case for the rest.

Likewise... it's going to be a long 1 1/2 to 2 months of waiting! I also do not see any of the DFDC dolls going on sale/clearance or making an appearance at the outlet stores.

Disney Princesses are just too darn popular for their own good and LE 6000 is really not a lot of dolls for a worldwide release. As a comparison to Mattel's current system for collector Barbies, their Pink label dolls never had a specific designated edition size, but I assume they are 50,000 or more; the Silver label (no longer used) dolls were LE 50,000 or less; the Gold label collector dolls are LE 25,000 or less; and their Platinum label dolls are LE 1,000 or less. Almost all of the Disney Store's limited edition dolls fall in the "Gold label" doll category with most of them in the lower quantity amounts, with a few actually in the "Platinum label" category (LE Alice, LE Queen of Hearts, LE Sgt. Calhoun).

Well, at least they will all have the same number. I just hope they are low #s.

Although in my experience almost all Barbies are easy and cheap to find now unless they are in the Platinum level.

I just hope all the dolls I get in my set are perfect, I'm worries that with all the defects and quality issues that people have mentioned that something like that will happen to one of my dolls. Thing is by the time I do get my orders I am assuming the individual sale of the dolls will be sold out.

I agree with Shivatopia it is going to be a long month and a half and I am worry wart so not only am I worried that I am not going to be able to get the LE Eric and Ursula on release but that the my DFTC preorder set may have quality issues. So nervous I just want the end of October to get here already LOL.

Also as a side question is there a reason why Disney does all these LE releases at the end of the year, I noticed that Disney is not the only one that does this, as I plan on getting the ps4 in Nov, pokemon in oct. Is it because we are coming up to the holiday season? Wish they would spread it out a bit LOL.
