33 pinocchio pins
I think we can all agree that grabbing a pin from someone's hands is uncool. No one's contesting that.

but thats how u have to treat others to get just the right movie pin...and all the ppl want the pin...so the pearson that act like this is looked at as being so nice and helpful. at least everyone that buys,,,,not the ppl that had the pin taken away from them..... neat story...always more truth that sum like to leave out.....
can we also agree buying 35+ 50+ pins at a time is also uncool and if you buy a couple for a friend sell them at cost not for a profit no matter how small if your going to do a favor for a friend do them the favor its a friend
As long as the Cast Members are doing their job and not letting people buy more than 2 in any given transaction and making them circle back around to get in line, there should be ample opportunity for people that are there to get pins. If they aren't doing their jobs....well, that's a matter to take up with Disney
I have seen a seller out of FL sell about 40 or so of them for the bargain price of $24.99. How do they sell them so cheap yet after Ebay & Paypal fees still turn a profit? Only answer I can come up with is that they are jiggy with CM's who can buy those at half price. Or they are CMs themselves.
I totally agree. I think people just need to stop throwing around the term "shark" so much. Not willing to trade an older pin at cost? Sharking. Trying to buy new pins to trade them for older stuff? Sharking. Reselling a pin you bought? Sharking. Wanting to trade up a bunch of smaller pins for an LE? Sharking. Wanting to trade an LE down into multiple pins of less worth? Sharking. Shark shark shark shark. The word has no meaning anymore. Haha
If you don't want to trade with someone, or you don't want to buy from a particular seller, that's cool. But I'm admittedly getting kind of tired of people labeling anyone who doesn't agree with their exact trading style a "shark". It's a collectibility-driven hobby. We're not all going to get what we all want all the time, at the price we believe we should be able to get it. It wouldn't be any fun if we could.

As someone that can get completely shafted if people don't do this....sorry, I just can't agree to that. If we were talking an LE 100 - absolutely, I 100% agree. An LE 2000....not so much.

I kind of chuckle because if a CM give a family some fast passes or ushers them to the front of a line, that's a magical experience. But if a CM lets someone break the rules a little bit and buy a few more pins it is outrageous!!! (Don't freak out because I said a few and the conversation has been about 35 - I say a few more pins because I doubt any CM is letting this person buy 35 pins all in one shot. This person is probably moving from store to store and making numerous transactions.) Anyways, I know the scenarios are completely different....but I just find it ironic....
also they are le 2000 but theres really only maybe what 400 good cels if that33 / 2000 = 60.7
So, it's technically it's like this person is taking 1 pin out of 60. A lot worse than taking 1 pin out of 100.
And not that many stores offer these PoMH pins, even in WDW. This person would probably have to use other people and go to every single store IF they aren't being helped by a CM to cheat the system.
also they are le 2000 but theres really only maybe what 400 good cels if that
I just think this is the definition of sharking. And it's not like they're even trying to hide it.
I just can't wrap my head around this so I have to ask....
Right now you have this pin listed in your sale thread for $50
Pin 80503: DisneyStore.com - New Orleans Halloween Masquerade Set - Jiminy Cricket as Dr. Facilier Only
The retail price of that pin was $24.99. So that's $25 above retail. The eBay selling in question is selling $19.99 pins for $24.99 - $5 above retail. So, they would have to sell 5 pins to be dollar for dollar on markup even though their markup is 25% of retail and yours is 100%. So, what am I missing here?
Why do they get the label of shark just because of volume when when almost every other seller on eBay right now is at 100%+ markup? Why aren't people angry at that?
I actually paid 32 for it in a co-op when it was originally released and was asked by multiple people if I would consider selling it. I didn't by 33 of this pin, nor did I use Ebay, or buy it just for the purpose of selling it. In fact, it's almost been a year since its release. This argument can be made for anyone selling pins, yet I'm glad you targeted me. Thanks for the attempt.
Still, 18/32 is a 56.25% markup and I didn't count tax for the pins this person bought either.
So as long as you don't buy it with the intention of selling or trading and just decide to get rid of it, then it is ok to mark a pin up? That....it just makes no sense to me. And, buying one LE 125 and selling it would represent 0.8% of the pins available. Buying 33 of an LE 2000 would be 1.65% of the pins available. So...that would be like them buying two or three of an LE 125 which people do all the time. The only difference is that they usually mark them up way higher.
And I am not targeting you. You targeted this seller by saying they are a shark and I am defending them. A shark is someone who takes blatant advantage of someone else and at this seller's prices I can't see how that is anywhere justified. They are providing a great service to a lot of us who don't live near the park. So, some people who do live there might not get exactly what they want all of the time because of it....boo freakin' hoo. They have a Disney Park that they can go to on a regular or semi-regular basis. They have perks I can only dream about. I just don't have a lot of sympathy for this scenario.
And, as I have said before, I have no problem with anyone selling a pin at fair market value even if it is at markup. But to criticize someone giving a lot of disadvantaged people the chance at a pin at a fair price while selling your own pin at markup is hypocritical.
Bottom line, if this seller didn't buy these then someone else would have and judging by the other prices on eBay they would have tried to get a lot more out of them.
can we also agree buying 35+ 50+ pins at a time is also uncool and if you buy a couple for a friend sell them at cost not for a profit no matter how small if your going to do a favor for a friend do them the favor its a friend
Like Erudolf, I think that as long as someone is being limited to 2 pins per transaction, it's fine.
YOU ARE A WORD SHARK! Shark used to have a specific meaning. Now, like scrapper it is used for everything. If you are Kleenex, I guess thats good since people use it as a generic term for even scott tissue but Pin Shark HAS been abused and is just a word now. The meaning it once had which was meaningful is gone.....
