A Fairy Tail of a Pin Haul (post those pins)
Some great trades! That Splash Mountain pin is awesome...

Here's my haul from the boards and trades. New HMs, park packs, mystery boxes from the event and a quiet few APs. Will be sorting out which will be keepers and what will be up for trade. A few are already spoken for. Had a great time at the event and it was so nice seeing @timeerkat @MerlinEmrys and @TiggerSue among others again this year!

Awesome haul! Love the NBC set. I'm still searching for Zero myself. Congrats!

So it looks like the boards were pretty good again this year. A bunch of HKDL, Park Packs, AP / PP stuff, and new HMs as a backup, if you are having trouble scanning for something you really want. But lines sound a little longer.

That's a good assessment. Though I think there was a little recency bias with those who griped so vocally about the boards being bad. The new HM flyer circulated like wildfire within the first 30 minutes of the event (had to be a solid coordination between the pin team and DPB). So people complained that ~all~ they saw was the new HMs. Which was truer perhaps of the small boxes the longer they lasted, but definitely not with the big boards.

I just think it was something you knew was new and, since there were a good bit on the boards, your eye was drawn to it.

After going to the event 2 years ago, where there weren't Disney seeded, HMs at all on the boards, and after the few seeded pins you were pretty much left with scrappers, I ranted about how they used to A. Release 10ish pins of the upcoming set and B. Have the current set widely available. You wouldn't hear me complain about a ton of new ones. So I'm glad to hear they did that again. I was pleasantly surprised that they had them last year, even though I only traded for 1 because of the quality of the rest of the board. So after last year, I can see if there were less "bigger" pins it would feel disappointing, especially if you aren't a HM person.

Here are our board picks from Fairy Tails. My daughter didn’t know what to pick so I suggested big and shiny, or Mulan. I think she did pretty well.

I didn’t do a lot at the tables, but finished up with some last minute horse trading. I’m gonna miss my horse! Thank you everyone for meeting me and letting me put faces to names

You got it! Yesssssss! I was just wondering if you managed to make that trade.

Some great board picks! Lot of DSSH!

Not where you think. She decided she was going to keep it. This literally happened in the last hour.

Last minute trading = best trading! I know all of us at my table were bum rushed in the last 30 minutes by people who were tabbed out and made some fantastic small trades.

Per usual, if you got a board flip, there were a lot of good options. Of course, people will always grouse about what they consider "good." The first three boards were did flipped right after our group pulled so that was a let down but at the very least, even before a refresh I was able to pull new wave HMs or some random APs off the board. And I usually traded them in line or at the next board. The end of day one we started hitting flips and the boards got much better. Same at beginning of day 2 but by the end of day 2 they'd clearly run out of anything but those AP Character Popsicles. My second to last board was a flip and was almost all popsicles. The last board had nothing left, one new HM and that was it. I even heard complaints from the Best in Show people that the second day pulls weren't great. Clearly they have some kinks to work out. I also think selling extra tabs in the RSP may have contributed to the longer lines. As to where they'd normally die down towards the end the day, people with extra tabs were still in line. Personally, I spent pretty much the entire day both days to use my six tabs. Luckily I was hanging out with cool people and we were able to keep each other entertained and who'd watch spaces in line if we needed a break or wanted to go to the tables or complete the scavenger hunt. It takes a village.

I thought the boards moved much faster on Saturday than Friday. I think what slowed the boards to some degree was the cast members had to remind guests to have pins ready and the tab off the lanyard. I liked the boards and thought they were really kind to up collectors. My sister got half of the Up anniversary boxed set and three of the Up park packs (which have been super hard to get in trade) from our board trades. I agree that the smaller boards should be refreshed more often though, especially if one stands in them for 50 minutes.

I spy many large, shiny pins so I would say she did well.

Scrappers turn up at an event like this?
Interesting...

On the regular boards, they take the two pins the people are handing in to trade and put them on the boards. So there could be scrappers. Especially if it has been a while since a refresh.

Ok my turn!! I woke up so early... guess I’m still on east coast time!

Here’s my whole haul!

This includes zaps from @jprincess and @swcref!

Closeup of my board pulls and trades

And I finished the black and white short films HM set! Love it!!

It was so fun to see everyone again and to put names to new faces! I told @Ajk that I’m a little faceblind so... hopefully I’ll remember what everyone looks like by next event
