Designer Princess Set....Need answers for a problem...

We just sold a set of Designer Princess pins because we just never could seem to figure out what to trade for the the set. We just got notified by the buyer that there is tarnish on the Jasmine along the edge and on the back. We have never removed them from the box since we purchased them at the Expo, so we are quite bummed and perplexed as to whether anyone else has had any problems with these pins. We know that initially there were reports from other people who had purchased the set at the Expo, of Tiana's dress being pitted on some...But has anyone else seen tarnish or discoloring on any of the the girls but especially the Jasmine....:anxious:

Mine had some little imperfections. That is what most pins have, some kind of imperfections.

I've not removed my pins from my box to check, but unless there's some kind of HUGE problem, I don't usually care what the back of my pins look like. I've received quite a few pins (especially DA era pins) where's there's been some sort of "flaw" on the back, and it's never bothered me. And by "flaw", I mean different colors in the metal or smudges or what-have-you. Holes and problems with the posts are a different matter...

In the end, it's up to you how picky you want to be...you're the one that has to live with it Just realize that something you might consider a flaw might not bother others, and isn't always the sellers fault, if it's the way Disney sold it.
 
Also, Since it is just a tarnish issue you might be able to have it buffed or use a buffing cloth on it and remove the tarnish yourself Hope this helps! It still is a Stunning collection even with the flaws here and there. Seems like most pins coming out have some sort of flaw now a days... :/
 

+ 1. Especially being that the imperfections are on the back, I personally wouldn't worry about it if it were me. As long as it doesn't affect the way the pin looks in my display, I just accept that not every pin will be perfect especially given Disney's never ending quality control issues.
 
Totally not the seller's fault! I just don't want to have bought something for hundreds of dollars and because of the defect, I would have a harder time trading/selling later or worse

Question:

Is this a pin that can be sold as new? I haven't done anything but removed it from box, put it on a cotton towel to take a picture of the back?

I am so stressing about your being unhappy with this sale/purchase and as I have told you, I want you to be happy. I will refund your money totally including the shipping cost...As I mentioned, I have never removed the pins from the boxes as I rarely like to touch my pins to keep finger prints off...I don't want anyone to be unhappy with any trade or sale we ever do!!! Just PLMK what your decision is. It is all I can do.

Someone please tell me are Disney manufacturer defects still okay and item is still new?

It's from the designer collection, I don't think you're going to have any problem selling/trading it, even with an imperfection on the back that won't be seen when on display...
 
Just had a look at Jasmine from my set. She does not have any imperfections. Thank goodness...
 
I personally think that complaining about the edge and back of the pin is a little much. Does it distract from the way the pin looks without looking at the back? If it were me that received the pin, I would have to think about if it really effects my view of the pin and if so, how hard would it be to find another set at the same price. Also, what if this happens with the next set too, then what?

1) I didn't start this thread.
2) I mentioned twice now three times "It isn't the Seller's fault"
3) Is it wrong to ask and get opinion about the condition of the pin?

From the feedback it sounds like Disney manufacturer defects are okay and item is still new? So let's try it!

My designer pins were traded for one at a time and iv tried my best to get pins W/o defects, and let me tell you there are a large number of them with either sharp edges or pin holes in the them. I would not worry about the back of the pin being unpolished. It's still a new pin straight from Disney. hope this helped a little
 
We need cool heads to prevail here. Greg and I started this thread just to see if there are any known problems with the Jasmine (specifically) or any of the other pins. Please let us keep to the topic of pin condition and not get into any sort of situation where the stress level rises.....We just want everyone to be happy and well informed. We have never really sold pins before and I just am stressing that the one time I do, there is a concern.....I totally understand Sweetpin concerns that she wants to make sure her pins value is not lowered by the tarnishing on the back. I am concerned as well. Thanks to everyone for their information.

You might want to try using a little bit of baking soda and water on the back of the pin to see if that removes the tarnish. It's non-abrasive and won't scratch. I used it on one of my pins and it worked.
 
I don't think the back of a pin will really affect its value, especially this particular set. If it was a less sought after set, then it may affect it in the long-run, but I truly believe this set is going to hold its value if not increase over time. With that said, most of my little sister's pins from the set have some random imperfections as well (little dips and IIRC a bit of tarnish on one).

The one problem with this set though, is that not all the pins in it have equal value. The Rapunzel/Ariel of the set are on the upper tier of the price scale, while the Snow White/Belle/Jasmine are in the middle, and Aurora/Tiana/Mulan/Pocahontas in the lower tier. Since Jasmine is a bit more sought after and less available, I don't think you are going to have a problem reselling it with the manufacturer defects. Just keep in mind it may not bring in an equal value to the Rapunzel/Ariel or even Belle/Snow White. As time goes on it might, or if you find that one special buyer looking for it though, it might.
