Disney Store Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion - 2016

These are my thoughts EXACTLY! The designer hag they made last year cost half as much as LE Beast - and a fraction of platinum Beast! - and yet they had the budget to make a custom body for her? Beast even has a classic doll they could get their moneys worth with, but the hag doesn't, she's a one-off! I'm not even asking Disney to sculpt a complete furry body (painted to match the tub scene ), though for the price of the platinum that wouldn't be unreasonable. I'd be happy if they just had the decency to make a plush body like they already do for the extra large characters of Ursula and now the Queen of Hearts. C'mon Disney, this isn't that hard :/

Gaston is back on the UK site for anyone that might have missed out. Got all the way through to check out so hope this helps if anyone was looking for him.

Sigh. Any deboxers have display and maintenance tips? I was forced by circumstances to be out of state on 9/20 and got the last of all three dolls. Gaston is ok, a livable plastic ding, but... Jeez.

Belle's box is in awful shape - The plastic is trashed and the inside left side when you take off the cover is all mashed and crumpled. Thank god the doll itself seems ok.

Beast is better and far worse at the same time. The box isn't crushed, but there are two big brown paint smears on the inside of the plastic. Even worse, they match... The spots on the fronts of his frontmost claws that are very noticeably missing paint.

I can't even look at them because the damage bums me out so badly. They've just been sitting in their bags. I'm pretty much just going to have to debox, it's not like I could return them, or with the damage even sell them on in good conscience without taking a huge loss. I'm not sure what to do with Beast though, it's not exactly an inconspicuous spot missing the paint...

you could at least make a complain in disney so they know that they have a problem in their quality control. Take some pictures and send it to them. Thats terrible. To think I freaked out when I saw a tiny dirt in my belles face.

Oh, how sad, I'm so sorry for you!
I agree with Mcandy, you should make photos and complain about it. Maybe they'll give you a gift card or something.

Quasimodo
may be able to help you, I think he did many grat customs and gave even LE dolls a makeover. They all turned out great. Maybe he can give you some tips what to do with those spots?

Did you pay via credit card? If so, I would suggest disputing the payment and letting your credit card company know they gave you damaged merchandise. Otherwise, I suggest contacting Disney Store online and letting them know

I didn't buy them online. These were in-store pre-orders.

I asked before I left to go deal with my late mother's belongings if I could have someone else pick up but they said no. And when I did come in to pick up they didn't give me a chance to look over the dolls, not that it would have mattered even if I hadn't been too tired from a week of manual labor in 100+ heat followed by 20 hours of driving the next day to insist on it because they were the last ones and of course you can't return LE merch and at that point even if I'd been able to I would have had to get them secondhand anyway at inflated cost.

No more pre-order dolls. What makes it even worse is that I was first in line at the store but last to be able to pick up. If I can't get it right then and there, no way. These dolls cost way too much to have this kind of experience.

I know for a fact that Disney has replacement boxes. I called my store because I couldn't pick up my dolls until September 27 and asked them if the leftover dolls had damaged boxes. They told me that TWO of them were but that they had called the Disney warehouse and they sent them replacement boxes so I am certain they can do it for you as well.

Gosh I'm so sorry to hear that, I would be able to fix the paint on beast, If I were you I would buy some acrylic craft paint to touch it up with a small brush if it's a small area, and to get the paint off the plastic case, Rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip should get that paint off and not scratch the plastic. I'm going to have to do this with my Belle Gaston designer set because there is brown paint all over where Belles basket is.

I would also like others said contact Disney, because you're right they cost too much to have those kind of defects.

I had a similar situation happen with Prince Phillip, where I didn't get to inspect the box before purchasing, and they gave me a box with paint on the plastic and it absolutely torn to shreds. They ended up making me return it despite the fact that it came back on DS.com a week later. I wasn't too torn up, because I didn't really have room for him at the time.

At the very least you should make a stink with the Disney Store on their Facebook page. I was the last one to pick up at my store and my Belle's box was pretty banged up and worse, the plastic was cracked. I raised a stink and they are sending me a $25 store credit (or at least they said they would). Even if they only give you credits for Belle and Beast, that would still be $50 in store credits.

Definitely make a stink, say it isn't the Disney way, etc.

BTW, people from the US have been receiving their Platinum sets (ordered on the US site) for the past week. It looks like the LE #s are low (under 150) so the UK should be 175-500.

Looks like many boxes have issues with them

What kind of problems?

It came damaged. Banged up box, cracks in plastic I can stick my fingers through.

So I sent them an email with pictures requesting a replacement. They had it, yay.

So they said they would send UPS to pick up the doll. I asked for the return label (doll shipped to my work and they wouldn't tell me when UPS would show up). It was supposed to be here by Friday, at the latest.

Label didn't arrive by email (or any other means) so I call this afternoon. They tell me the shipping label request has been put in again and I'll get it by Tuesday. I ask, so once the doll is en route (assuming i get the label on Tuesday), will my replacement doll be shipped?

They check records, replacement doll has been cancelled, I'm like WTF? They check records and say replacements are usually cancelled if item isn't returned in two weeks. I say, but I only just got the damaged doll and sent you an email on 10/4/16.

Put on hold, another replacement doll has been saved for you. Ok.

So anxiously awaiting the label to return the damaged doll.

Oh, and there was an issue with the payment so I didn't even get the doll until the prior week (wasn't shipped out until Friday September 23 so, of course, since I'm in CA, it took a week to get here.

I just had the same problem with trying to get a UPS label for some non-doll related items that arrived broken and damaged. Been waiting all week for the label and every time I called customer service I kept getting the run-around. I finally contacted their Facebook page today to complain and my label was sent to me within minutes --so you might want to go that route if you don't get it soon. It's ridiculous that it takes a week for a label to be sent via email--- every other online company I have ever dealt with issues out labels in minutes --- not days or even weeks.

I'm sorry to hear your doll arrived damaged.

I don't understand why they just don't make extra boxes so that if there is a problem they can just send those out instead of a complete new doll. This either means they made more than 5000 of those dolls or they keep a certain amount on the side in order to switch with broken ones. That would also explain why so many collectors couldn't get their hands on her.

But I know they do replacement boxes. My store had to get two boxes replaced because they were so damaged when they got them.

they replace dolls if they have unsold ones. I heard of people who complained for damaged dolls/box that was given just a gift card or offer of a refund because there is no replacement. Some even would rather keep the doll than not to have any and be happy for the gift card. You can also have a look out in fb groups for box being sold by deboxers usually 30-35 dollars. I find it odd when people sold the box for 35 and just the dress for 100 and that makes 135 even more than disney charged for a whole doll which is 119 lol..one was even selling the box with naked belle for a hundred. It would be wiser than to sell each doll piece by piece because you get more haha

still no blast off email from the UK D: getting nervous because the whole drama thing from america

So you got the platinum set from the US and a platinum set from the UK. Did the Disney store charge you the platinum set from the US? Cuz if I recall they had canceled your order so I am curious to find out if they still charged it

Congrats on getting the sets! It's a very beautiful set indeed.

I told them I either wanted a replacement doll or a box (they'd have to send me three parts basically, both sides of the box & the plastic since both sides were damaged (crack/ding that went through outer box, went through plastic and into inner box, all damage is on the same side and I see a ding from UPS on that same side).

I did get the label TODAY, after I sent them an email yesterday reiterating the conversation I had with the cast member on Saturday. So, it will be going to the UPS store tomorrow!

Also, this isn't the first damaged box I have had from Disney and I know it won't be the last. Everytime I have asked for a replacement box first, they tell me no boxes and no dolls. This is the first time there has been a replacement.

I know they keep a set number of dolls behind in case of damage (not sure why they don't open up the boxes to make sure there isn't damage to begin with). I also know I'm not the only one who has gotten the damaged box before.

I assume the replacement boxes are kept specifically for in-store sales of dolls?

disneysfreakingprincess: did you get the blast-off email from Disney UK? Cuz almost all of those have already been delivered within the UK. I know some people in France just got theirs this past week (Thursday/Friday)...

She got more than just the blast-off she got the US set delivered (the one that was initially canceled) and the set from the UK store I am curious to find out if they charged her for both seeing as one of the orders had been canceled initially. That would be so lucky!

wow!!!

Disneyfreakingprincess: If you end up selling the US set (or UK set), I have a friend who deboxes who thought he got the set cuz of a pending charge and no cancellation email. Then, he contacted them to find out where his set was after reading people getting their blast-off emails and was told that his order was cancelled and then they sent him (as they were on the phone) the cancellation email.
