Very pretty custom-work on the doll!
wow!!!
Disneyfreakingprincess: If you end up selling the US set (or UK set), I have a friend who deboxes who thought he got the set cuz of a pending charge and no cancellation email. Then, he contacted them to find out where his set was after reading people getting their blast-off emails and was told that his order was cancelled and then they sent him (as they were on the phone) the cancellation email.
Sorry, sorry!! it has been a busy week with school and my mother in the hospital. Indeed I got both sets! the email was already strange because it was about the platinum dvd set but I called them that day, and the stupid lady said it was cancelled. but my aunt who lives in CA brought the doll with her, they charged me indeed a free doll would have been nice lol! one was with creditcard (the one from US) one on paypal (the one from the UK) I got 2 sets true because I did not expect to get the one from america, but I am sorry someone from my country is getting her I just feel really comfortable to give the doll in person no shipping panic or anything that they get lost. my sister collects my little pony's and she orderd so many times and the package just disappears. but I forgot the shipmagic one in america but i did not dare to call them because they said it got cancelled lol. I am selling her for the retail price I had to pay in america still freaking 800 euro's but always better then 1000. please note I did not get it in the netherlands throught the disneystore.com because that would be insanly expensive with import! my aunt took it with her on the plane. and ignore my spelling mistakes I am so tired D: also I really hate the disneystore.com 750 without tax lol that's not a normal thing in the netherlands to show it without tax so the price was a shock when I checked out x.x
I'm just happy you got to at least get the set. I felt so bad reading about you missing out on all the Batb dolls. Enjoy the set! It sure is a pretty set!
After I got the set I cried lol guilty! but hey it's my favorite movie. I still hate it that I could not get winter belle because I love her too! but I am only going to buy moana this year because my wallet doesn't like doll season
My Platinum set finally arrived today. My forwarding service in the UK was having some technical difficulties, so it took a while for them to mail. But everything arrived safely, and I'm so pleased. My verdict on using paypal + a forwarding service is a good one. DS UK did a fantastic job with the packaging, the shipper inside the padded larger box was perfect, they didn't even need to be repacked by my service before making the trip to the USA. The US and Japan sites should take a lesson from them in this instance. It's a beautiful set in person. Very heavy, hahaha. I'm slightly afraid to put it on my wall shelf.

I used Borderlinx which was recommended to me by a friend, but it looks like they are starting to have some problems with their UK hub (which is why it took so long for my set to get here). I'm not sure I would use them again.Who is your forwarding service?

Yes, I'm glad it worked out. The friend that referred it to me has used Borderlinx for years without issues, but it still made me very nervous (and the processing delay didn't help). It worked out for the best, however. There are plenty of services out there though, so I'll probably try someone new if I ever need to use one again. I'm just very relieved that the set arrived with no dents or damages, Disney has me worrying about that lately.WOW...well at least it all worked out. But I can see the problem that people would have is if everyone used that forwarding service since it would be the same address but different "suite" number"...would Disney cancel orders at that point?

Just FYI: They don't list the price with tax because in the US the tax rate (as well as what is taxed) varies by state. It's not a national/federal tax so they need to see what state it's going to and then apply that state's taxes. NJ is 7% (everything but clothes). Delaware doesn't have state sales tax. NY is 8.75%. Etc. Yay, 'Merica!
So on another note I wanted to ask other collectors' opinions regarding the platinum set. I ended up getting the Batb platinum set as a gift (very grateful here) and couldn't help manage to compare with the LA Alice platinum set. I feel as though the LA Alice is heavier and is way more detailed than the Batb set. I am left wondering if Disney always makes their LA sets more detailed than the animated ones? I feel as though the same is true for their limited edition LA dolls and the animated dolls. I find that LA dolls always have these extra little accessories and details that aren't quite the same on animated dolls.
I've noticed this too, and it's why I'm such a big fan of the LA dolls even when I'm not a fan of their movies. My theory is the fact that their design is based on a real life garment (and in the case of AttLG there was a lot of intricate detail in those costumes). In comparison, animated clothes are more simple by necessity so the animators can draw them quickly. Even though the limited edition dolls elaborate on the design, they're still working with a simple base which must remain recognizable. Real life clothing is not hindered in that way, and the much larger scale allows more room for detail and design features - which the doll makers do their best to shrink down to 17 or 12 inches. That's my best guess at least.
It could also be because the LA movies don't have the same guaranteed following of people to buy the merchandise, so they go above and beyond to make the tie in products as appealing as possible. Goodness knows they could wrap Elsa in a used tea towel and staple it shut and she'd still sell.
Hey everyone! I know I have been gone for a while! But I wanted to share with you my custom 17' Yellow Belle I made since I wasn't able to get the platinum set! Hope you all love her as much as I do!

Maybe it's Oakens sun balm.
I think she is a pretty and well made doll, with nice details.
